Doctor Strange Casting Poll **NEW** - Part 2

Marvel films aren't given their own forums on SHH unless fans mount a campaign. The usual rationale is that there are space limitations. FF, Ant-Man and GOTG didn't get forums for a while after they had release dates.

On the other hand, Justice League had a forum as soon as there were rumors about it. That's how it goes here.
Yeah, this isn't true at all.

I've been trying to think of actors that would be legit surprises that no one saw coming. For some reason Jay Baruchel popped into my mind. He's goofy and could add a quirky twist to the character.

As a big Doctor Strange fanboy, NO. You need someone with a lot of depth, enigma, powerful presence and a hint of danger.

A big deal why? Paul Bettany played Jarvis and Vision. Is Vision and Jarvis the same in the Mcu?Cooper used a bit of an accent with Rocket as well.

Well that's kinda interconnected. Also seems natural to me to have him as Vision. The Jarvis AI given a body and mobility and called The Vision.

At this point after seeing casting choices we thought questionable an them proving us massively wrong almost everytime, I'm open to anyone getting a shot. The guy they choose is not gonna be some fanboy fave, Marvel doesnt cast like that.

Here's one for inspired casting and one I think nobody has suggested.

Daniel Radcliffe. I think the guy would kill it.

Sorry Dude, you're too late. I already suggested this, no one supported it but at least I'm no longer the only one on the football field.

I don't care if he played Harry Potter or that playing another Wizard/Sorcerer is to cliche, I think he'd be a good fit. I know the studio would probably not get behind it and Radcliff himself may not want to do it but you never know he may. The only downside to me is his age. I think he's just to young right. We're talking about Dr Strange being contemporaries of Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver. Realistically Strange is supposed to be a world class surgeon and Radcliff would look to be just out of med school. I know it'll never happen but I wouldn't mind it.

Yeah I tend to agree.
His Harry Osborn was great and he was great in movies like 127 hours. But he does have the tendency to sleep walk through some of his movies

He could kill it as Strange if he puts his head into it but it isn't a risk worth talking for Marvel

Yeah he's a good actor and until now I couldn't quite put my finger on it but you just summed it up. He sleeps walks through some of his roles. It's like the guy at the same job for 20 years and he drags himself to work everyday to do the same boring job. That's how Franco comes across in some of his films unless their's a good director that gets an inspired performance out of him. Even if he puts his head into it he's just not strange to me. It'll be like casting Halle Berry(whom I love but she's only good in certain roles) as Storm, well maybe not that bad but just a step above.

I will always see Radcliffe as Harry Potter, it's the face. He can put on whatever accent he wants, he's too recognizable.

Matthew McConaughey may not be a bad choice. I remember his name being thrown around in fan circles about a year ago. Granted, his Southern drawl may seem misplaced.

Leonardo DiCaprio wouldn't be bad either I think.

What does height have to do with anything? Strange's talents isn't in his height or physical stature.

He is too short man, probably one of the shortest male actors around(10 cm shorter than RDJ)

And yes height matters,he is not Bruce Banner who eventually turns into the Hulk or Tony Stark who will get into a suit,he will have to come face to face with a lot of characters including the villains,we dont want the staff carrying boxes everywhere during shooting

Doctor Strange needs to look menacing(which a guy of 165cm won't),he needs to have a menacing aura around him along with sounding arrogant and badass.Basically a less-wisecracking/more mature version of Tony Stark

And imo Daniel Radcliffe is overrated(along with the other primary cast of the Harry Potter series) and he doesn't seem to have a charisma

Another reason is that he is too recognizable, and if Marvel doesn't care about that, they should cast Michael Fassbender

There should be a little RDJ emoticon that can be used to end an argument whenever people comment on an actor's height. Ton Stark is like 6'something - I honestly don't remember because even in the comics itself it's not really that big of a deal. He also has the sort of personality and presence where he walks into a room and people take notice. RDJ only has one of these qualities, and can anyone here honestly say that they would give that up if only he'd been the right height? That's crazy.

There are very few times when precise physical appearance is a make-or-break quality. I mean, okay, for superheroes there is a general requirement of "being fit" but for a character like Doctor Strange not even that is REALLY a do or die. To me, having an actor who presents the right persona is so important that I just don't understand why people get so caught up in what they look like. If I don't "feel" the character and connect with them on that level, what is the point of them even being there, and a few inches here or there will not change that.

Marvel wouldn't pay Leo his 20 million asking price and he wouldn't want to sign a 6-9 picture deal.

This could be his entry into the genre but I doubt he would want to be tied down for multiple movies

I am pretty sure about one thing, when this movie starts to build hype,a lot of hatters(non CBM readers) will accuse Marvel of trying to ape Harry Potter, despite Strange being around for 50 plus years

I think RDJ's height is overplayed
He is 1.75,while not exactly tall,he ain't no dwarf.I wouldn't be worried even if Tom Cruise played Iron man(1.70)

Radcliffe is 1.65,to put things into perspective,Johansson in 1.60.And Doctor Strange in the comics is supposed to something like 190 cms

I agree with you,but from where do you find the persona the persona in Radcliffe? He has the charisma of a plank! Emma Stone outshone him in most of the later Harry Potter movies.

If he had the acting chops comparable to Phoenix,I could have looked past it.

Tell me one thing Radcliffe brings to the table? He is complete mismatch, have you ever heard of world class neurosurgeon who looks 25?

I don't particularly think Daniel Radcliffe would be a great choice, but I also don't think his height has much to do with it.

It's happened on occasion before. Jackson as Fury, Weaving as Red Skull, I'd even throw Anthony Hopkins as Odin in there too. It's rare that they'll cast actors that everyone (almost) unanimously wants for a role, but it has happened before. It just hasn't happened for a main character...yet.

My top 3, in no order

Jason Isaacs
Oded Fehr
Timothy Olyphant

Oded Fehr would be good. I always liked him in the Mummy movies.
