I think Ferrell is dull as dishwater in big budget action films. He's good in smaller films though but hell no to him poorly leading another big budget film.

TheWrap just updated their article, and Phoenix's publicist is insisting that talks are over.

That said, he could still be in contact with Marvel.


At this point, I think its between Cumberbatch and Reeves. Phoenix just seems to be too indecisive, and Farrell isn't worth the risk just because he has heat going into "True Detective".

Cumberbatch feels like the better choice of those two as far as ideal age and fit for it, IMO, but him signing will be based on how much he and Marvel willing to bend for each other to make it happen. And Reeves is a great choice, but might not commit long term and isnt ideal as far as age

So its an interesting turn of events.

I know this is insane. Just cast somebody already and stop teasing. Now just who in the hell is Hardy supposed to play in Xmen??? I hope it's not Apocalypse??? Is it too much to ask to get an actual person of color for him and not another white guy playing an Egyptian. Bad enough the Ridley Scott's Ten Commandments flick put to of whitest guys in roles that are racially inaccurate but I hope Singer and FOX don't throw Hardy in there. I will not see the movie or at least pay for it. I won't be seeing that Ridley Scott mess for sure. I can't believe that Hollywood is still doing casting like it's pre civil rites. I haven't looked up the film but I also could've sworn I saw Sigourney Weaver in the trailer. WTF???? Really!!!

I am really cool with Keanu Reeves as Strange. But if Isaac is wanting the role… DAMMIT MARVEL JUST GIVE IT TO HIM ALREADY!!!

Reeves is up and down with the projects he chooses, but he's getting good notices for John Wick. And I believe he directed recently too, a pretty darn good movie.

47 Ronin was a disastuh, but I think he's got way more presence than Theroux or Farrell.

Strange is the guy who is supposed to be the MCU's Iron Man 2.0. Do you really want Reeves being the next face of the MCU? Right now I'm sending good vibes Issacs way.

Dang, I hope McGregor isn't out of the running because I think casting Ewan for Strange would be be freakin' brilliant. He could hold his own with RDJ for sure. Cumberbatch still seems like a boring pick and I don't really want Phoenix, except for as Mordo, perhaps. I'd be OK with Therioux or Reeves but feel they wouldn't be as good as McGregor.

While I agree that Phoenix is probably the most purely talented name on the list, the right person to play Strange (and in Marvel's little cinematic sandbox) also has to want all the crap that comes with it.

Phoenix would be a train wreck during the press rounds for this movie. Plus, who knows if he'd want to return.

I think Keanu's a pretty left-of-field choice for this, to be honest, and now that he's been mentioned, I'm really all for it. He seems like a really super cool guy and one that would have fun with the fans during press rounds.

Was McGregor mentioned in that new article? I didn't see his name in there. I would like him as well. Classy actor who isn't a block of wood like Reeves. Groot would definitely have more emotional depth saying 3 words then Reeves as Strange.

True, Phoenix didn't want all the came with it unfortunately.

Keanu may be a nice guy and good at pressers, but I'm more interested with what he can bring to the role, not if he'd be a good drinking buddy.

I personally think he's a long shot at this point so I'm not too concerned, I'm still hoping for Issac.

I'm for McGregor, he would definitely fit in with the other Avengers and bring depth for Strange. He would add a bit of *diversity*. Cumberbatch might also work, idk, i just like the idea of Strange being from the UK for some reason.

If this movie happened 20 years ago, I would say Pierce Brosnan. And if it happened 30 years ago, Sean Connery. So in my mind, Dr.Strange=James Bond. Meaning, he needs to be charming and suave but also have an underlying intensity. Like a mix of the dry wit of Daniel Craig's Bond and the silky smooth charm of Connery. McGregor can bring something similar i think.

Yes! We can be #TeamKeanu.

I'm of the opinion when the guy does something with a good creative team behind him, he is awesome! And he really knows the industry, judging by the documentary he was a part of a year or two ago.

If he (or Oscar Isaac) want the job, give it to him!!

Hmmm… maybe if Keanu gets it, Alex Winter can be cast as Wong?
