Perfect. Just perfect.

Keanu Reeves? Wow I think he'd be great (never expected to see his name in the mix). But I thought everyone thought he was a terrible actor?

FISTBUMP!

I like it when we agree on all the things :cwink:

:hrt:

Yes! We can be #TeamKeanu.

I'm of the opinion when the guy does something with a good creative team behind him, he is awesome! And he really knows the industry, judging by the documentary he was a part of a year or two ago.

If he (or Oscar Isaac) want the job, give it to him!!

Hmmm… maybe if Keanu gets it, Alex Winter can be cast as Wong? :oldrazz:

Coincidentally I watched Point Break and Speed back-to-back last night.

Yeah, Keanu is not a good actor at all. If it was between him or Farrell, I would definitely choose Farrell. After In Bruges, Seven Pscychopaths and Saving Mr. Banks I love Farrell.

Keanu isn't a terrible actor, he just has a limited range.

Really want Keanu to get it. Kind of feel like there's too much Cumberbatch as of late and Colin Farrell is awful.

i think we've established every actor not in a big movie franchise already, has been linked to Strange.

90% of these probably haven't even talked to Marvel let alone in negotiations.

Whilst I agree Reeves isn't a bad as actor as suggested by many, he definitely doesn't get me as excited as imagining what Mcgregor, Isaac, Gyllenhaal or even Ethan Hawke could do with the role.

What Reeves has, along with his presence and likeability, is an unquestioned amount of iconography.

Assuming he nabs the part whilst he may be the most limited, in dramatic range perhaps, actor portraying a Marvel Superhero currently on the big screen (certainly in the MCU) for most cinemagoers the man who was Neo, Jack Traven and Ted Logan will have instant credibility due to having headlined films in this genre before successfully. We know he can do comedy intentionally well (assuming they decide to lighten up Strange in the way they did Stark) so I'm not completely against the thought of him doing it.

Cumberbatch is still a great choice.

People are just being contrarian by rejecting him.

Hipsters. :oldrazz:

My top 3:

1) Oscar Isaacs

2) Justin Theroux

3) Benedict Cumberpatch

I'm cool with any of the frontrunners, honestly. Cumberbatch and Phoenix are probably the best of the lot, talent-wise, but Reeves or Farrell could be great too. They're both better actors than people give them credit for.

You want an actor forced to test themselves. Guys like Cumberbatch do this **** in their sleep so its like par for the course, ho hum you know he'll do good. Reeves....now you got my curiosity.

Gyllenhaal is another one of those really good actors who I'm unsure is right to lead a big budget special effects film. If he's allowed to play the character as a full fledged weirdo maybe. That's where his strength as an actor lies.

Some new names (just to put them out there):

Rob Lowe
Chris Pine

^That's it. That's his range.

I genuinely don't know why people are getting excited about Keanu here. I love Bill & Ted, Speed, Point Break, and The Matrix as much as the next guy, but has there been a SINGLE ROLE in which Keanu Reeves has given a performance that substantially added to the film? Where he performed, not just adequately, but exceptionally, and that you could not easily replace him with a better actor?

I see it totally the other way - give me an actor who is [effortlessly] perfectly suited over an actor less well suited [who then has to work harder] anyday. Why cast an actor who very may well may be nowhere near as good, just for the sake of thinking outside the box? Sometimes so-called 'obvious' casting is just that - obvious because the actor is almost perfect for a role.

Well, I think Speed 2 is a good indication that a franchise won't necessarily be improved by swapping out Keanu. Perhaps that movie would have sucked anyway but the point is, Jason Patric (though a good actor) was a downgrade from Keanu.

Additionally, I can't see ANY other actor in the role of Neo in the Matrix series. Now, that may just be because I'm used to Keanu in the role, but the thought of Will Smith (who was originally supposed to play the character) as Neo is just awful. And I like Smith... but I can't see him as that character unless they made a bunch of drastic changes.

Additionally, Reeves has had a number of roles in smaller films that he doesn't nearly get enough credit for, such as his abusive redneck character in The Gift, his semi-sleazy lawyer in The Devil's Advocate or his well-meaning doctor in Something's Gotta Give.

Well Reeves has more box office appeal then Cumberbatch. I wouldn't mind either of them to get the role. Cumberbatch is a fan boys dream and the guy is wanted for everything. i like him too. I think he'll be good but Reeves would be awesome!!!! Reeves knows his limitations and he can do characters that suit him. I can get behind him as Strange but not say a Magneto or Batman.

Noooo. I like Pine a lot but as Strange??? Rob Lowe just screams tv actor to me. I know it's silly and he's not a bad actor at all and the guy has done a ton of films but I'll just be seeing Rob Lowe up there.

Well said except I'd like him to get the role. He's one of my top pics now.

Plus the last thing Marvel needs is yet another white guy named Chris.
