Doctor Who - Regeneration 5

I'd say it's definitely a cult show in the US, like just about every other successful sci-fi property that doesn't start with "Star."

Maybe if they're just talking about US.

But a show thats been on for 60+ years doesnt seem like a cult show to me. Plus in the UK Doctor Who is a household name

Entertainment Weekly is an American magazine.

I'm just saying, there's an obvious reason why an American magazine called a TV show that's only got cult status in America a cult TV show.

I just realized that TORCHWOOD is a DOCTOR WHO anagram.

I just realized that TORCHWOOD is a DOCTOR WHO anagram.

BBC loves their anagrams. They came up with the codename "Torchwood" for Doctor Who back in 2005. They wanted to prevent leaks before the first episode aired.

Similarly, when Karen Gillan landed the role of Amy Pond, she had to tell people the role was for a show called Panic Moon (anagram of Companion) until the BBC officially announced her casting.

Jenna-Louise Coleman had to tell people she auditioned for "Men On Waves," an anagram for "Woman Seven" (as in, the new woman for season/series 7).

Sucks that we can never have a Who/Torchwood cross over. Or see Amy interact with Jack, that wouldve been hilarous.

Why can't we? Martha has appeared on Torchwood, and Gwen & Ianto have appeared on Who.

and there was a sorta-crossover when Jack jumped on the Tardis

No kidding.

The finale season 2 part episode pretty much summed up RTD's era.

I just hope Moffat makes his exit or Smith's exit more subtle/quieter.

Was that from the entertainment weekly article? It was a big deal for Doctor Who to make the EW cover

I'm not sure, but I doubt it because of the "Canada!" logo in the bottom. EW is American I think. I found it by accident searching for something to post in the "Funny Pics" thread in "Community".

I'm calling it right now: the end of Moffat's era will be just as schmaltzy, but it'll be punctuated with a sense of excitement for what's to come instead of sorrowful regret.

Ya but it would be interesting (to me atleast) if the Doctor could appear on Torchwood. Which of course will never happen.

The tone of Torchwood is so radically different from Doctor Who now that I'm not sure a crossover could even work.

I would like to see the lighter Captain Jack of old show up in Doctor Who again.

TV Line:
Forget the traditional gold: Doctor Who is getting something really special for its 50th anniversary.

To mark the auspicious occasion, the BBC has commissioned a 90-minute event called An Adventure in Space and Time, reports BBC News.

The one-off special, written by regular Who scribe Mark Gatiss, will chronicle the real-life birth of the sci-fi franchise in the early 1960s.

“This is the story of how an unlikely set of brilliant people created a true television original,” said Gatiss, adding that he plans to explore how actor William Hartnell — the first Doctor — transitioned from hard-man roles to children’s hero.

An Adventure in Space and Time will air on BBC Two in 2013.
This hasn't already been posted, has it?

A tv drama spanning a couple of seasons chronicling the birth of Doctor Who would be great!

End of Season 7 premier of "adventures of space and time"

Casting director- alright what's your name?

"Colin baker"

Some sad news. Mary Tamm's husband passed away hours after her funeral. Died of a broken heart. :(

I wonder who they'll get to play Hartnell.
