The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Does this movie really deserve the hate it gets?

Yeaaaaaap. Wasn't fond of "da boYZ IN BLUE HEAAAAHHH!?!: either. I did kinda like the "if you're gonna steal a car...don't...dress like a car thief. " line, but the ASM2 "quips" were terrible.

I really like the whole car thief scene lol.

Agreed. He makes stupid jokes instead of witty ones like Spider-Man is supposed to be. I'd rather be finding Spider-Man witty than corny and annoying.

Didn't help that I couldn't understand most of Spidey was saying in that scene. Seriously, it sounded like "ISTHATAKNIFEYESIT'SAKNIFEMYWEAKNESSIT'SKNIVESASJHSBSNSNK."

lol I really dislike the car jacker scene. That was his worst quipping scene in TASM.

Garfield does the absolute best with what he's given.

Honestly, though, some of the quips in ASM2 were a little lame. I thought the car-theif thing in ASM1 was way funnier than most stuff in ASM2.

Agreed. And since that car jacker scene was his worst quip scene of TASM that says a lot about how bad that TASM 2 ones were.

No they're not. The only people his quips annoy, and are supposed to annoy are the villains, or who ever it is he's mocking like Jonah. The audience/readers are supposed to be entertained and amused by them.

When you're cringing or being annoyed at 90% of his so called quips, then something is seriously wrong. The humor in these movies does not work on the whole. It's god awful. Spider-Man's one liners are no exception.

Eh, the humor in the first film was kinda good while this one was more problematic like the web shooter scene. I did like the convienient store scene. Classic modern comic spidey moment

Spider-Man's not meant to be annoying to anyone except the bad guys. If fans or audiences are finding him annoying in any way then something is very wrong with the writing of the character. You don't make your hero annoy his fans.

I didn't find him annoying for the most part. Though the opening truck chase scene and the car their scene were too much. They need to time it better in the sequel and make it less annoying

I should be getting this movie on Netflix tomorrow and watching it this weekend. Might also try and watch Sin City as well.

So we'll see how they rank among the big 3 I've already seen.

His woeful unfunny one liners (God named sparkles, don't call me late to dinner etc). But this is all part of the bad cheesy humor that plagues this movie. It's not just Spider-Man that's guilty of it.

I was okay with the "God named sparkles" line. But, his woeful playing around with Rhino when he KNEW he was late to Gwen's speech and graduation as well as letting countless civilians in cars die during Rhino's joyride in the truck I found unacceptable.

My problem with the sparkles line was it made little sense and therefore wasn't funny. Electro didn't call himself sparkles. The media didn't call him it either. It was just a name Spider-Man called him a couple of times. So the humor there fell flat for me. If it had been a nickname that caught on like the way Doctor Octopus is often dubbed Doc Ock or just Ock, it would have been funnier.

The civilian opening was unacceptable but chasing the rhino was his duty.

Also do you feel that spiderman is slowly losing their popularity? Because with how number 2 performed critically and financially I feel that people pay less attention to spiderman and are losing interest because we seem to be on the era where CBMs are much of a big deal probably than comic books and animation. If its true than not only is Sony killing themselves but the character is slowly dying

It does matter, because if you're going to mock someone for their name, it should be name that is actually relevant to the character, as in something they call themselves or a name they are commonly referred to by the masses, and not some made up name that was mentioned like twice in the movie by one character, including in this unfunny quip.

I'm not even going to dignify your sparkles question with a serious answer.

No, B&R is unwatchable, this movie IS watchable

B&R is watchable when viewed as a comedy and modern adaption of the Batman Adam West show.

Both are watchable. ASM2 is on a much higher level of quality. Batman and Robin had a lot of things working for it backstage, except the studio itself.
