The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Does this movie really deserve the hate it gets?

For me, it was the 90s Show, Raimi's movies and Ultimate comics... then I decided to read some 616.

Some Spider-Man game on PS1, the Raimi films, and the toys are what introduced me to Spidey.

Oh man... The toys.

Let's see...for me it was Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, followed by 616 comics.

Sure, there are some flaws.. Every movie has them, but I really don't think these flaws are such a big deal IMO. What do you guys think?

Just saw it for the first time tonight, via PPV. Will not watch again. It was boring and tedious.

I'm watching it right now at home and I can't stand the song that's playing when Peter is redecorating his room, Cold Play wannabe crap which is why I hate when contemporary songs get played in inappropriate movies.

And oh yeah I'm watching the movie over two days I just can't sit through 2 plus hours.

On Peter's behalf, it's Coldplay.

Christ almighty...was anyone here (except Myself, Joker, and Webhead, as I know our ages) around for the ToyBiz line? Those were amazing....no pun intended.

I got some Toy Biz action figures. Hobgoblin, Hydroman and Toxin are the only ones that survived. XD

The Toy Biz line? Haha, which one in particular man? There are hundreds of toy biz Spider-man figures from various different lines throughout about 15-18 years or so

Are you talking Marvel Superheroes?
Spider-Man TAS?
Spider-Man Classics?
Marvel Legends?

Those are the most popular lines off the top of my head, but so extremely varied. They featured the best Spider-Man figures. Yes I was around for them all, and actually still have some awesome classic figures MOC and MIB.:woot:

Lol I still have all mine....those things were astounding. The new toys suck ass though, don't think I've picked up a Spider-Man figure in a while tbh

I meant all the toybiz stuff, every lineup. I believe they even did Raimi's....at least the first two.

Yea Those are awesome. I still have some of those original releases on card aswell. I remember for the first movie they were released several months in advance, and everyone was astounded by them and their existence. Toy collecting was nearly at its pinnacle then and has just gone downhill to where it is now. Things are very small and extremely over priced now.

The Spider-Man classics line will always be my favorite though. I will actually keep those on my wall, while many of my other Spidey figs will be stacked in storage.

Well of course. I had this Toy Biz SM2 figure... It was probably my favourite toy of all time. The articulation was excellent and smooth, the paintjob was good, but coolest thing about it was how god damn durable it was. It put the thing hell. I went to *****ing town on it - I threw it into walls and dropped it from roofs at least once a day, and it never broke.

It was this one:

I also had this beast:

Didn't play much with it because it was so big and heavy. I only used it for posing, really.

I also had a Toy Biz Venom, Carnage, Doc Ock, 616 Doc Ock. When SM3 came out and Hasbro had taken over, I became sad.

As a kid for me, Raimi films were first. Then Raimi video games, Spidey and his Amazing Friends, Ultimate.

Speaking of Toy Biz, my mom have me hands down the scariest Hobgoblin figure:

Look it up, his face was so ****ed up. Happy Birthday son, thanks mom oh Spidey figures--WHAT THE HECK IS THAT THING?!?!?!

You know when your scarier looking then Venom and Carnage, there's a problem.

I had that figure too! Hobgoblin was posessed for a while in the early '90's, looks like that figure is based on that take. Sweet dreams! Though I am pretty sure he had a flame glider like Demogoblin, who, if I remember correctly, is the demon once he is exorcised from Hobgoblin.

My introduction to Spider-Man came from my Dad, he had a few comic books lying around, not a massive collection, but these special edition books that came out around 92 for Spidey's 30th anniversary captivated my imagination:

I still remember my first look at the Lizard in Bagley's Amazing issue, plus each of them came with a trifold poster that was just mind blowing to me at 5. Bagley is still arguably my favorite Spider-Man artist.

My Dad also had this book:

Which gave me a look at the history of Marvel itself along with the characters in it's sandbox, that books since fallen apart and I plan to replace it, even if it's outdated now.

They repainted that figure and released him as Demogoblin I believe.

Man, that Spidey toyline was unbelievably good. And they were actually affordable!

It doesn't deserve the hate.

After finally watching it, Webb did a very good job for the most part, I did have some nitpicks throughout with the relationship between Peter and Gwen, and Peter and Aunt May.

However, the villains weren't very strong, but Harry was the most believable. I didn't like how Uncle Ben was marginalized, I didn't like how the venom's serum only at first was made so only someone with the Parker's bloodline could utilize it, the dub step in the score with Electro was just awful, I didn't like utilizing Captain Stacy, the whole parents plot and again Electro and Rhino were just way, way over the top.

In conclusion, in a year with TWS, DOFP and GOTG, it's the lesser of the 4.

yeah, it's great that peter respected may. but why feel the need to cut out uncle ben and focus on the parents? i mean i don't mind the parents but don't disrespect ben. and please don't cut out alot of the important stuff in the film like power and responsibility, the lines from the trailer like this is my choice and anything that indicates peter growing as a character and everything important. the audiance loved the rough cut back in march for a reason. there was exactly no reason for you to cut the entire thing out. the franchise is you only reason to surviving right?
