Either way, it could never hurt to flesh out Gumb just a bit more. It literally, wouldn't take anything away from Clarice/Hannibal and only would have added to the story overall.

Wasn't that sort of the point of Buffalo Bill though -the story was Clarice/Hannibal and their journey. Gumb was just there to serve as a reason for Clarice and Hannibal to meet and work together.

He is more of a plot device than a character, that is true yeah.

Just saw Manhunter for the first time and... it was awful. I don't understand why people say it's superior to Red Dragon. The acting's terrible, everything feels rushed and Dollarhyde feels like an average killer of the week from a random crime investigation series. Definitely don't understand why it gets so much praise.

I haven't seen Manhunter in a good long time. Though I know I vastly prefer Peterson's Will Graham to Norton's.

Norton was like dry cardboard in Red Dragon.

Norton was like dry cardboard in Red Dragon.
I actually find him to be that way a lot when he's playing "the good guy." He was even more boring in TIH, imo. I love him in darker roles, though.

yea, it still irritates the **** out of me that alana is doing the same things that chilton should be doing.

Yeah
I'm not a fan of having Alana assuming Chilton's role-it kind of makes the actual character redundant. But perhaps we'll see Chilton usurp that position of power after Alana bites it, setting up an even more hateful dynamic.

I thought Norton was great in Red Dragon, dry cardboard? I didn't get that from him.

Episode 9 "And the Woman Clothed with the Sun..." Great to see Will and Hannibal reunited and the Abigail Hobbs flashbacks were interesting. The line "Blood leaves the body at a gallop then a stumble" instantly became one of my favorite quotes from the series and I thought some of the dialogue in this episode was quite good. Glad to see Freddy Lounds return. Richard Armitage continues to be good as Francis Dolarhyde and it was nice to see Reba McClane introduced. Will getting into the Tooth Fairy's head was pretty disturbing. The Hannibal and Jack scene was good as well. I was not expecting Dolarhyde to actually call Hannibal.

I think he was definitely phoning it in. He's even admitted that he only did the film to be able to pay for the 25th Hour.

The thing with Red Dragon was that it had such a great cast, but it was coupled with a terrible director. A lot of the cast seemed to be going through the motions, Ralph Fiennes being the only exception.

Anthony Hopkins was totally cruising through Red Dragon on autopilot too.

Ralph Fiennes and Emily Watson seemed to be the only ones making any effort.

Huh I loved Red Dragon a lot, the cast and everything.

The funny thing is that I became a fan of the Hannibal world thanks to Red Dragon. I saw them in order. I really like Red Dragon, but after watching Dancy's Will Graham, I see Norton's Graham as a PG version of the character. He doesn't sell the whole "I have serious mental issues thanks to Hannibal".

Yea, I love Red Dragon as well, I like Norton and Harvey Keitel as Jack too but Hopkins does phone it in quite a bit. Emily Watson and Ralph Fiennes just elevate that movie so much, though. Manhunter I think is the better movie but Red Dragon looks better visually. I think it's safe to say this will end up being my favorite RD adaptation.

I used to thinkRed Dragon was pretty good, but then I caught it on HBO last year and it was pretty bad. I really hate Ed Norton's "ACTING!" in that movie. It never seems like he's getting into the mind of a killer; just moments of realization and he plays it bad.

I love Manhunter, tho. Used to hate it when I was younger. I love Cox as Lecter. He seems pretty normal until you listen to what he's saying and realize just how how evil he is. Peterson is also really good.

Two weeks in a row that NBC in my area hasn't even bothered showing a promo for next week. But nonono, NBC. Please do show me more of that Person of Interest ripoff set in Vegas with Wesley Snipes. :o

Yeah no preview of next week when I was watching either. Annoying.

Great episode. I loving this shows spin on the Red Dragon storyline.

I'm kinda glad NBC isn't showing previews. They spoil a lot because they're idiots.

Why would they bother wasting money and airtime on previews for a cancelled show?

Because who else are we gonna take our frustration on.

I don't believe they show promos in the Canadian airing either. Though next week's episode is 10, so I think Fuller said that was gonna be the big episode with Bedelia and her homocidal patient, Mr Spock.

Why would they bother wasting money and airtime on previews for a cancelled show?

On one hand, sure. On the other, that Devil's advocate kind of reasoning is a slippery slope. At first, it's "Well, why should they air the show on a decent night if it's already cancelled?" Then it's "Well, why should they bother with promos if it's already cancelled?"

Finally it will be "Well, why even bother airing the last 3-4 episodes at all?"

You don't have to watch the previews you know, if you think they spoil too much for you.
Or they could get a better marketing team. It doesn't really bother me except for when they give away something like Jack vs Hannibal: Round 2. Dumb.

But they won't because they always find a way to make their good shows look like garbage!

*characters from The Player and Blindspot dance across Hannibal's gorgeous cinematography*
