Yes, it is in my opinion that it is wrong to judge an entire movie based on a lacklustre trailer .See,opinon.
No one is judging the movie. People are judging the trailer, the story presented and the look of the film, all of which come into play with a trailer. Again, the point of a trailer is to sell tickets, win people over. When it does the opposite, that is fair to express.

Exactly. They are not going to spend an additional 7 months worth of man hours on this for a spit and polish job.
Yep. Man of Steel stayed on the shelf for 7 months when it saw the same exact delay in release.

Yes ,I SEE SPIDEY clarified her position on that one quote that managed to get my goat. Thus, I don't see a ny point on dragging the issue further.

Again, I took no slight for any of those.

Yeah the truth is those are more or less the effects and either one accepts them or they don't and I fall squarely on the "don't" side.

SPIDEY had to clarify because you were doing exactly what I said you were doing.

Looks just like WOW. :o

Also, yeah, that is the actual subject being discussed.

SPIDEY had to clarify because she wasn't clear enough in her initial post.

There , fixed that for you.:woot:

If the movie managed to evoke the same aesthetic the games( both in Warcraft and WoW) used then I would consider it a plus for for the movie.Going by the trailer, they are at least successful on that front.

Considering your comments in the gamergate thread, this makes perfect sense. You would think SPIDEY wouldn't be clear.

You have to explain this to me as I don't have a clue what you're trying to imply ( thoug somehow I got the feeling that it is quite irrelevant to the thread).

They'll still be wise to use those 7 months to tinker and polish, Duncan Jones reads a lot of the feedback online, and I'm sure he's seen some of the complaints. But then again, if the ILM guys are happy with it. I rewatched it several times and aside from one or two shots, I'm really not seeing why everyone is so hateful. Most of it is top notch CG work and is meant to look the way it looks.

If anything, I'm waiting for the Quicktime version to really get a sense of the texture because YT compression just destroys that, just like it smooths over the stuff shot on film (this is on the Alexa, but still). They can always add some grain or dirt in the image, I think this might be what's throwing some people off, skin texture is hard to get right with CG, and sometimes the more dirt and texture you get on there, the better it sells.

A producer as well said it was done.

Charles Roven said a couple of days ago in an interview on Collider that they are still tinkering with it.

Jones saying it's "done done" doesn't mean though that all of the CG shots are 100 % complete.

I see DarthSkywalker have conveniently abandoned the the thread.I guess that is pretty reasonable considering his failure to explain his insinuations properly.

Let's discuss the movie, not other people.

Oh, I took that over to the GamerGate thread, it's proper place.

Sure, I just hated it when people threw stealth insults and then cowardly slinks away. But then again I'm always too dumb to understand that level of trolling :whatever:.

Anyway ,if he refused the dignity of explaining himself , then I will pursue this no further.

The question is, who spends that money? Because it isn't in the budget.

You just accused a woman of prostitution in another thread. You are the troll.

Oh, I took that over to the GamerGate thread, it's proper place.

Ahh I see , you're trying to accuse me of being a sexist.

Re-read my post from the start of my altecation .You would notice that I have no idea that I SEE SPIDEY is a female in the firts place nor did I change my tone and stance when I did.

The trailer felt somewhat generic. There was not even one line that would let me feel "you are watching the WarCraft film now". Things like "For years, our world has been at peace. But something is coming. I can feel it. Dark forces are upon us." feels totally generic.

Maybe they did not want to go too far lore-wise for general audience but now the whole thing feels somewhat flavourless. I'm curious whether some new trailer will fix things up or will continue in way this trailer have established.

Okay, people, please humor me and watch the Quicktime version:

This looks so much better than the YT version, it all blends together much better and there's actually more texture to the CG whereas the YT version makes it smooth.

Thanks for the download link, that was great to watch. :mnm:I'm really just concerned about the time and all the plot on this movie, makes me question how much Medivh is in the story or the Orcs.

I do find it rather concerning that this trailer doesn't feature enough of Mediv and Khdgar.

Thanks for the link. It does look better, much better in fact. I think the problem is, marketing wise, a lot of people's first impressions have been made from the trailer on YT.

GUYS, it's the first trailer, it'll all be in. This is what Duncan Jones said a few days ago on EW:

"I must admit that it’s a lot of fun to see people who are into Warcraft and are aware of it starting to identify things and pick out Easter eggs and recognize a world that, for a lot of them, they’ve been spending a lot of time in themselves. I think there is a unique enjoyment that those fans will get out of the films, beyond what I believe is a really solid, enjoyable fantasy film in its own right.

How does the extra scrutiny from the fans make you feel?

There have definitely been phases where it’s been nerve-racking to make sure that we do them justice and don’t have any clangers or make major mistakes. We’ve always been fortunate. I’ve been working very closely with Blizzard, who obviously know the game inside out, and a number of my key crew members and myself were long-time players. We felt good that we’d be coming from the right place.

What were the conversations about how faithful this film should be to the games?

I am someone who played Warcraft, but at the same time, I consider myself a filmmaker first. I think one of the reasons why it’s taken so long for this film to come together the way it has is that there were a lot of priorities and a lot of concerns about what this film needed to be and how it absolutely had to be something that you could approach and watch if you didn’t know anything about Warcraft. That was really that tricky line to walk, making sure that the fans would really feel that it’s their world and at the same time introduce it in a way to people who know nothing about it. That’s why it took such a long time. Peter Jackson went through this with The Fellowship of the Ring. There was always going to be a hardcore fanbase for Tolkien that was going to take him to task if he didn’t address things in a way that stayed true to the spirit of Tolkien’s work. Obviously, we don’t have the amount of history that Tolkien does. It’s a different fanbase, somewhat overlapping. We have the same passion amongst our fans, so it was a similar job.

What were the big challenges in putting together this first trailer?

We’ve got an awful lot of introducing to do, both in this movie and inviting audiences in to come see this movie. There’s an entirely new world, new characters. This is beyond the Warcraft faithful, who know what it is that we’re talking about. Also, what kind of subject matter is it? What kind of fantasy is it? There will be different pieces that we have to address over the seven months until our film comes out. Right now, we just want to give everyone a sense of the breadth of the world, the kind of action that’s involved, and a sense of the energy of the movie. As we go along, I’m sure we’ll be introducing people to the broader spectrum of what this big, big film is."

There's more, but it's also said that Medivh is going to have a significant role in it, the point of the story by the way is to present the story from both perspectives: Alliance & Horde, the first version presented only the Alliance, Jones wanted specifically to shift the focus and have the two perspectives.

Another article about it not being another basic bad vs evil type of thing:
