lol thinks you probly hate that I have amazing spider man 2 on my list though. But yeah spiderman 2 still has the best action in a CBM ever including the train fight and also harry and peters relationship is great and dock ock. So may things that spiderman 2 does while that is why I have it has my user name and because spider man is my favorite superhero.
I respect you standing your ground. Like what you like, who gives a crap what I or anybody else thinks? I don't make lists based on Rotten Tomatoes scores (and I like the site) I make lists based on what I like, what interested and moved me the most. If I thought Fantastic Four 2015 was a top ten comic book film (it sucks IMO) then that's what would be on my list right now. I will never dig a film just because it is popular or not dig it just because it is unpopular.

So around 23mil for Thursday. I think 100 million is going to be a squeaker if it happens. If it follows in Avatar's footsteps it does around 103mil but something is telling me it won't get the 71% increase that Avatar obtained. I'm thinking 45-55% right now. Starting the new year off with a film getting a 100 million dollar weekend would be cool though.

I am thinking between $90m and $100m.

By the way, I do care what others think, they just don't automatically form my opinion. I love to discuss film, especially with the likes of SPIDEY, Snow, Hunter, Solidus and others here. And on occassion, they have helped me see a film in a different light.

I went to an evening showing earlier tonight and the theater was mostly full, I can imagine it'll be even busier during the actual weekend.

I have a bad habit of saying that I don't care, that is too simple of a way of looking at things I fully acknowledge. It's a defense mechanism I'm sure.

Im gonna try to go see this again this weekend.

So how much do you think it will make this weekend? Is 23 million bad? That was like 8 million worse then Tuesday and like 3 million worse then wesday? Yeah there are a lot of popular things I don't like and a lot of unpopular things I do like but there are some things I agree with but it is not going to change if I like something or not just because some on does or doesn't like something.

While if It dropes the same amount from weekend 1 to 2 this weekend of 40% that would mean 90million for the weekend. I do care what another people think but not because they are going to make me change my mind about something nut just because I hate when I love a movie that people think is so so or bad because then I fell like it doesn't get the respect it deserves and also reviews can have an impact on how much money a movie makes or doesn't make.

I saw it opening night and the first Tuesday it was out so I have not went this week but one of the ladies I work with lives on the street where the theater is and she said on like Monday or Tuesday that she could still see a long line at the theater. I was surprised to hear that a movie that had been out for over 10 days was still having that long of lines.

Knowing is half the battle. :yay:

NYE is a bad time for films. $23m is a good number.

I get your point as well. It is so much nicer when I film you love doesn't seem to need defending. And you always need that sequel money.

Is 23 million a record then for NYE? Yeah some movies it drives me nuts because I fell like how in the heck can some one not like this movie or certain complaints I just don't understand or something.

I hate to admit it but it is nice when the thing you like doesn't need defending. Blah. Now or days I care more about a film making enough to get a sequel than I care about records being broken.

Yeah 23mil is good and the film will make a lot of money this weekend. I'm going with 92 million but hoping for 100 million because that would be awesome to see. The Hateful 8 is expanding and QT's movies are usually popular, not Star Wars popular, but popular enough so I see that taking some males away. It's still going to easily be number one of course. I wonder how long it will stay number one?

Yeah, there are always those that don't like any film. Heck TFA needs defending, even with the reviews and Box Office. But it is completely different when a film like MoS comes out. I am big fan like you SPIDEY, but I felt like I spent the first two weeks defending it and I never meant to. :funny:

I forgot about The Hateful 8 expanding. That is a good point.

Two weeks, more like nearly 3 years. :funny:

To bring it back to Star Wars. I really was hoping that things would go as well as they have because frankly I thought the film looked good and I liked the director. And I thought Star Wars deserved some good news after the reception of the prequels. I don't have any issue with those that genuinely didn't care for the film but I'm not as bothered with Lucas-stans and Abrams haters that run certain websites. I won't say that I don't care but I will say that their opinions don't change reality.

Hey, I wonder how much of a cluster The Force.net forums are?

TFN is a mini disaster because Finn fans are crying and pushing theories, while the minority of haters have made it their mission to point out the movie is crap. And I call them haters because these are the types who were determined to hate it 3 years ago. Some genuinely don't care for it, and that is their right. I just stopped going there again, which sucks, a lot. The same happened with MoS. I just stopped going there for long stretches. No point.

That subset is clearly the minority though. This film is almost certain to break the third weekend record, but if it does get to $100m, that is insanity. I wonder how much 3D and especially IMAX is helping. It is apparently doing amazing for IMAX.

Slip of the tongue (or finger) there? :o

It is the S. I knew I'd make that mistake at some point. :funny:

Just wait until I call one of your Sawyer. :o

Darth,

How many times have you seen TFA?

Still a good number. How many more do you plan on doing before the end of its theater run?

Right now I am hoping to do 7, but it depends on free time and how long it stays in theaters.

Not sure what the record for yesterday is. Record for today is $25.27 million (Avatar). That will fall.

There were reports that it had to hit $1.5 billion to be considered a success.

There are also reports that Elvis is an alien. I'd put more credence in those. I'm pretty sure Disney would have viewed anything over a billion as great, given that they didn't pay 4 billion for a single mega hit movie. They paid 4 billion for a franchise.

They have to make up for the $4 billion dollar purchase price.

If you look at it from that angle, than you also have to consider all the other sources of revenue its brought them. Between the toys, video games, licensed merch, and TV shows, I wouldn't be shocked if they've already paid back the majority of the cost.

I never bought that it had to hit 1.5 billion to be successful. I think Disney's goal was to hit 1.5 billion plus but I seriously doubt that it was expensive enough that it had to hit 1.5 billion to profit.

The toy sales will cover the 4 billion, Disney are not looking towards the films alone make back their 4 billion.

It looks like Jurassic World just edged Star Wars by a hair in the 2015 domestic box office stakes. I knew it would be tight!
1. Jurassic World $652,270,625
2. Star Wars: The Force Awakens $651,965,583
