The Force Awakens Early Star Wars 7 Box Office Prediction Thread - Part 3

There's access to theaters, number of theaters, population, all kinds of metrics that need to be established to identify a clearer answer but who has all of those numbers?

However, when you start talking about home viewing options, you are no longer talking about the box office.

I agree that the box office alone isn't a stat that shows the popularity of a movie anymore with the degree of home theater options. But we are talking box office. You have to be properly motivated to see a movie in the theater. If you aren't motivated enough to go spend the money to see it in the theater, perhaps the movie wasn't that popular to you in the first place.

I hear ya. What I, and others, are saying it the the movie theater has a lot of competition now that it didn't have in the past. There are so many intangibles with regard to the different types of entertainment now, that it would be impossible (IMO) to accurately measure them (or perhaps more succinctly, measure them with any degree of confidence that you are measuring what you want to measure). And believe me, I've tried to measure some really weird stuff.

Chinese food made in America? You aren't missing much then. :o

REAL Chinese food is crap until WE Americans improved it. That and Mexican food...

:o

You have Mao Zedong directly to thank for your General Tso's chicken! :argh:

Anyhoo, you got it wrong; real Chinese food is meant to make you crap, at least once. You've never had a taste of China until you've eaten at a street stall.

Don't know about Chinese food, but I've spent some time in Mexico and there's some good @$$ $#!t down there.

I worked with a guy who visited China fairly regularly and he told me some stories about the "hygiene" practiced in some restaurants. From the sound of it, the food would definitely make you crap......and probably more than once....or twice.....

The food, the hygiene, the crapping. It's true, all of it.

Now I want some steamed buns from Chinatown.

Restaurants here are generally graded according to the cleanliness so Chinatown (SF, LA, etc) is probably okay. You, however, aren't quite right in the mind.

We should have known better than to give you an opportunity to get started on this trend..................

Damn, ya'll making me want to get some Teryiaki from Sub Way. :o

I know that's Japanese.

Siopao isn't a joking matter.

I want some salmon & tuna sashimi now.

Mmm, mmm good!

Oh DAMN that looks good. I just finished a leftover turkey sandwich from New Year's eve; which is what I've been eating for lunch for a week. :csad:

I predict if they give away sashimi TFA goes over 1.2B.

This thing looks delicious! In such moments I feel bad that I don't like seafood :csad: Only thing I like is cod or shark meat. Although, I am curious to try sushi someday.

Domestic weekend take bumped up again, actual is $42.35 million, making the domestic total $812.73 million.

Man, it's been too long since I've been out for sushi. I don't even like that Sashimi style but that pic above looks friggin' delicious right now.

Shame about the China box office, but understandable considering that the originals were never released there so SW just isn't ingrained in their culture the way it is in some parts of the world.

Sushi is great. I want to try to make some myself.

It looks like hell if you don't know what you're doing.....trust me....

Make sure you have a razor sharp knife, google, and the concentration level to keep all of your digits intact.

It's like mudding and taping sheet rock. If you don't know what you're doing, you're hosed.

You watch these people that know what they're doing and say to yourself "Oh, that's easy. I can do that." Then a little bit later after you're done, you say "WTF happened?" :cmad:

I'm pretty sure Chinese box office numbers are mostly for bragging rights as a way to boost a studio's ego about WW film gross.

It's hard to get much actual profit from China what with the tariffs and taxes they have on foreign films.

Even the films we think that have been "saved" by the Chinese box office like Terminator Genesys and Pacific Rim don't seem likely to be getting sequels made. Yes despite what Del Toro is saying I don't think we'll really get a PR 2.

So any Monday USA numbers yet? What kind of weekend may we have this weekend with it being a Holliday weekend? How likely is the movie going to pass titanic WW?

Not I. That's one thing I'll leave to the professionals, lol. Those guys are artists.

I don't know about sushi(I don't care for it myself) but with sashimi all you need is raw fish, a knife and some dipping sauces.

I would love to see a PR2.
