Here's an interesting idea:

Looking at the origin of Eddie's hatred for Spiderman in the comics, it all revolves around Spiderman disproving the identity of Sin Eater, thus ending his journalistic career.

What if this is what happens in the movie except replace Sin Eater with Sandman? Let's say that Brock fabricates the story of Sandman being the one to kill Uncle Ben in order to give a shot to his career. Spiderman disproves it and that's Eddie's motivation in going after Peter as Venom.

Thoughts?

That's really interesting and adds a lot to that scene where Peter pushes him against a wall.

I like the idea a lot...it is certainly not without imagination.

good theory, it can happen:yay::up:.

Q&A mentioned doctoring photos...thus getting fired...+ pete and gwen getting close = eddie hate...

Now if thats enough to make him want to kill himself I don't know...

I think Eddie will fake photos of Spider-Man.... you can see it behind Eddie when Peter pushs him against the wall. It's dark spidey, and he's carrying money bags.... I guess that's a faked pic, and spidey has never stolen the bags.

I think Peter is gonna me fired because in the leaked traler you can hear Eddie sayes to the black Spidey : "From now long, I'll be taking photos of you for the buggle."

^Yep,quite simple.

SOunds good, because I kept noticing how enraged Pete looked when he slammed Brock into the wall; it didn't seem like a symbiote induced hissy fit.

It would still be cool if after he got fired and stuff, they have cutscene later in the movie of Eddie at his doctors and the doctor saying he got cancer. Everyone in the crowd would be like Goddamn how bad is this guys life gonna get. Cheers!!

So lets see there.

At the beginning of the movie we see that Brock hates Pete, not Spidey. But after making his first clear foto of symbiote Spidey, he becomes very annoying for Pete.

So Parker smashes Brock out of his way with losing control on symbiote.

And when Brock finally finds that Pete and Spidey are one person (after he became Venom) and gets fired for dumb idea of Pete having some partnership with Jameson, he will realize that the only way how to kill Pete is to kill Spidey.

And if you want to kill Spidey, you need to find out him. But if you need to find him, you also need to take someone, who is close to Pete as victim.

So that's what Brock will do.

I also liked the idea that Peter bullies Eddie when Peter has the symbiote, so later when Eddie becomes Venom he picks on Peter, sort of like a deadly game to him.

I think its more logical that he's just trying to replace Peter. So Pete doesn't get fired, but Eddie is trying to become Spidey's new main photographer.

One thing I think is weird is Brock's prayer at the beginning of the comic con footage. It sounds cool and all but I don't think devote Catholics or any Christian of any kind are allowed to pray and ask god to kill people.

Hell thing is, he may believe that it is a good thing; maybe an asking for greater good. We don't know how far off the deep end Spidey goes in this. He may have the mindset of "Lord, I know it's not right...but kill Parker. Look at what he's done to me, look what he's done to others. That....that thing on him, I thought it was a costume! It's an abomination....a cancer...you've got to stop him...please. Too many have suffered already."

off topic: hey dais, can you do a Peter Parker too? LOVE your Venom, and how you visualize and seem knowledgable to the character too.

Sure, I'll probably do something with Peter when I get more time, I've been slowly getting back into Spiderman stuff because of all the movie buzz.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too. Also in the Comic-Con trailer he said that he was humilated and this looks pretty humiliating.

it looks like dark spidey is holding whatever bags sandman is holding in the subway... but the pic looks like it has the bank in the background...so maybe he edited spidey taking the bags from sandman in the subway and photoshopped them to look like he was leaving the bank, not the subway....

That scene above, where the symbiote-enraged Peter throws Brock up against the wall... I just love just how vicious the look on Peter's face is... it really makes it clear why Brock would so easily come to hate him, when the only side he ever gets to see of Peter Parker is that dark figure (seemingly) bullying him.

brock hates peter, he faked the pictures so that he could get the money from jjj, he cheated, thats why he feels so humiliated, peter looked very angry when he rushed brock against the wall, against the fake picture on the wall of symbiote spidey stealing money, which he really never did.

I don't think he's in it for direct money. Peter and him are both looking to get the same job. If I wanted a higher pay at the Bugle...I'd discredit Spider-Man too.

I think he's more into....Acceptance.

You can clearly see the photoshopped money bags:

....eh, i dont know about that.

Ben Parker was just one of hundreds that are killed annually in NYC. Why would attempting to connect sandman to the murder of one particular person (in this case an absolute nobody) bring him journalistic success?

and secondly, of all the people to pick, WHY would he pick Peter's uncle? there would be no logical reason for him to do so, especially if they have no idea who Spider-Man is (which at that point in the movie, Brock does not).

i think somebody said it on here, but the most logical scenario is that Brock sees Peter as a competitor both proffesionally and romantically. Its bad enough if Pete is fighting him in one area of his life, but in both? That alone is enough to drive a man wild. Second, Brock sees Spidey as his meal ticket, however Spidey not only humilates him (in some form), hindering his career but ALSO is seen as a competitor romantically (keep in mind he most likely has the same attitude toward Spider-Man that JJJ does to begin with). So he has two good reasons to hate both Peter and Spidey, and then he finds out they are one in the same...

it's an interesting idea...but Captain Stacy tells them that Sandman killed Uncle Ben
i doubt the NYPD would follow such a makeshift lead from a newspaper article

Could be in reverse. Where he makes public a story that is [suppose] to be between the police and the Parkers (police will at time disclose information about investigations to families whether or not they are fully certain).

However, I seriously doubt the theory...but hey, it looks great on paper.
