Ant-Man Edgar Wright's Ant-Man

Regarding the distinct time periods that Wright spoke about, maybe the echo time locator that was mentioned in a recent article will play a role in bringing the Pym's to the future?

A lot of us, self included, seem to think that Giant-Man/Goliath and Wasp are pretty much a given, and that it's pretty much a given that they're being groomed for The Avengers franchise. But NOWHERE has Wright mentioned either of them.

Wow. You know I've railed against the assumptions that Pym is being groomed for the Avengers or that the movie has made some major change from what Wright has always said it would be but, wow, that'd be really interesting to not include Wasp. If they do enough with the inventions and shrinking they can save Giant-Man for the sequel, but without Jan? Wow. Or with an irrelevant old housemaker Jan... or with a young Jan that's paired with Lang instead of Pym. Hah.

any confirmation on the rumor that the scene at the end of IM3 will be a teaser to ant man?

I guess we'll see if ant-man is shoehorned into the epilogue of Iron Man 3.. not sure how it will work, but could be fun..

Where has it been specifically mentioned that the film takes place in the 60's? Only quotes I've seen have been about it being inspired by the Pym stories that were written in the 60s and the Lang stories that were more current. I could see something a bit more like A-EMH did where they're both roughly the same age and Lang steals the suit kinda thing. I think that could work

Here. But its probably not gonna happen, its more likely it'll be a 100% modern day setting.

I just want to see that test reel Edgar put together for Marvel!

Maybe at Comic Con...they'll have something? Realistically, footage from IM3. But possibly more, hope so!

I'm hoping for something to be reviled at ComicCon.

Marvel surprise and tell us that this movie will be released in August 2014!

As he walked on stage to take a seat, Edgar Wright held up a copy of the Ant Man comics. This one.

Wright said that he wanted to adapt that story, To Steal an Ant Man, and that’s still his plan before teasing us and then, to swooning, unveiled his test footage for the film.

The sequence was largely unfinished but showed ant man looking out of an air vent into a corridor towards an elevator door protected by two CIA-looking suited up goons. He grows to full size, leaps through the air and shrinks as he does so, delivering his kick at ant size, but will full-scale weight.

During the scene he lands on the barrel of one of the agents guns and runs along it mini sized.

The character has not been cast, and the performer in the suit was only a stand in, but Wright did speak a little about the costume. While it won’t be final, it did indicate what they are going for – a mixture of the contemporary look and the silver age design.

Wright says that “Ant Man will kick your ass… one inch at a time.” I don’t know about one inch at a time. My ass is already kicked up and down.

That's the Scott Lang story. It means he still is trying to go with this story of Pym in the 60s and flash forward to the present with Lang. Well the 60s is 40+ years ago, so they can't have that. Maybe if Pym was only shortly before like in Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes that might work, but I want to see both Pym and Wasp in this movie rather than Lang.

What's his obsession with Lang?

I can't wait to see his suit design, and helmet.
Here's his movie logo

The big question now will be can Ant-Man resonate with enough fans to make it a viable franchise, considering he's been unable to carry his own comic book for most of his existence?

He doesn't need to carry a whole franchise. Just have his one movie, then keep him as a supporting character in Avengers movies after that.

I'm asking myself the exact same thing.

Really disappointed it looks like he's decided to stick to the Scott Lang thing.

I want a look at that footage. Can't wait for the naysayers to eat their delicious crow.

I'm disappointed in that as well since having Hank Pym in the Avengers lineup makes way more sense than Scott Lang.

I personally think a Hank Pym Ant Man would be more successful than Scott Lang, because it would have the tie-in to the Avengers. Scott Lang (although he was an Avenger much later) would end up making Ant-Man more of a solo film which then has to carry itself on its own. The Avengers association would've given it more of a push.
