Elfman is Working on the Music

yeah, i wonder what venoms theme will be.
Try the generic choir of singing angels and a flute, Elfboy's specialty. Venom's theme is gonna be weaker than strained tea bag...if they let Elfman write it. :o

THIS IS AWESOME NEWS, I LOVE DANNY'S SCORE FOR SPIDEY, HERE'S HOPING THEY USE IT IN THE SPIDEY 3 VIDEOGAME!!!

I am extremely delighted that Danny Elfman has returned to compose the music for Spider-Man 3 with Christopher Young. Danny Elfman is the best at thw mnusic scores he composes. He is my favourite composer in the world. I have loved everything he has done. :woot: :spidey:

I'm thinking a dark echo of Spider-Man's theme. Not the main title theme, I mean the actual character's theme.

Wow, wasn't Elfman very bitter about working on Spidey? I thought he was defiant about not returning...

owell :whatever:

I disagree! When I first saw the footage of Venom in the leaked trailer the second thing to pop in my head (1st being "woah thats awesome") was, "man I can't believe Elfman is not returning." Now, I'm glad that he's back. If Raimi allows Elfman creative freedom I know what type of music he'll use for Venom's theme. Eddie Brock is a religious guy and turns into Venom at church. So...all you have to do is listen to Elfman's music in Batman to have an idea. Remember when Batman follows the Joker and Vicki into the church and up to the roof basically? Remember the music in that scene? I think that's the style of music he'll use.

Dude...they've been friends for 16 years. 16 years! Its perfectly normal to get into a feud with someone you've known for that long. But, eventually you get over it. It happens! Burton and Elfman had a feud back in `94 and they got over it. It happens! Elfman has explained it as getting into a fight with your brother. You can get pissed off at your brother but at the end of the day you'll love him.

Well, when you put it like that...I guess it makes sense. Glad they made up, I just didn't expect it. :yay:

I knew they would have made up eventually but I didn't expect it to be so soon. And, I definitly didn't expect Elfman to work on Spidey 3. But...hey...lets forget about the past and focus on the future.

Thus is the reason I despise his work and was hoping that he wouldn't come back, because this sounds exactly like the hack job idea he'd pull. Instead of breaking out some new instruments and writing something not Beetle-Juice/Batman ready.

Um...I said style. People confuse composition with style. Every composer has his/her own style. Even people like John Williams. Just listen and you'll notice.

Maybe so, but one has to like the style first, I guess that's where we differ.

I guess. But, some haters atleast prefer to take their chances with Elfman since they are still traumatized from Batman Forever.

I'm curious as to how they're going to work on the score now, do Elfman score half and Young score half of the film; Is Elfman writing and Young arranging the music; are they both writing the music together?

I couldn't believe when I came across that sentence from Curtis', I first thought it was a joke. Came over to SHH! thinking it's all over the boards and to my surprise nothing. At least this time people can actually believe me...

But yeah I really like Elfman's score. Sure it isn't really memorable but they don't have to be to be good. I mean look at Batman Begins. To me, just from listening to the score you can get this sense of responsibility that rings so true with Spider-Man. I know that can sound cheesy, but that's how I feel.. And not to mention, with Spidey 3 being darker, it should really be right up Elfman's alley.

I'm curious too.

Dan Goldwasser, the guy who runs Soundtrack.Net, has added that this news has arrived alongside rumors that Elfman might come back to compose new themes for Spider-Man 3, while Christopher Young will adapt Elfman's themes into his score. (Goldwasser's a guy who has the buzz on film scoring in Hollywood, and his information is very legit.)

Still, it's too early to tell whether that'll be the case or whether Young and Elfman will co-write the score. Still, having Elfman back is a treat onto itself. His main theme for Spider-Man isn't nearly as good as his theme for Batman, but I find it catchy and memorable just the same. And even if Elfman didn't come back for SM3, Raimi would most likely have Young use Elfman's themes to maintain continuity nevertheless.

Awesome! I'm a big fan of Danny Elfman's music. Batman, Beetlejuice, and Edward Scissorhands are some of his best work IMO. I can't wait!

I'm pretty delighted but also very surprised by this news.Elfman and Raimi had well publicized falling out on the second film and i didn't think there was chance in hell they'd work together again.I'm glad they somehow found a way to put their creative differences aside for the sake of Spider-Man.:spidey:

ellfman looks ot me now like a freaking idiot. did he forget what he said? i really hope that money is not the reason that he comes back. and i hope raimi changed hes mind about the music.
because i hated in spiderman 2 when i heard the same music when peter saves that little girl. the same freaking music. they didnt even edit the music to fit teh scene.
horrible.
