Elfman is Working on the Music

Good to hear that both are working on thie film's music because they are both very similar to each other. Both are so very gothic with their approaches.

I hope to God that for sm4 we get a new cast and crew and new composer that will give us something memorable. The spidey scores as of now are forgettable and do nothing to get me pumped other than remind just how great the score for Burton's Batman films were/are.

when elfmans main spidey theme comes on the opening credits, it gets me excited for the whole movie.

I'm glad he's back but he needs to change the music around a bit. SM2's score was boring, repetitive, and cheesy.
With the exception of Doc Ock, It was pretty much the same as SM1. I hope he makes an overall darker score for SM3.

but thatsh the reason why he didnt want to come back to SM3. raimi wanted the old score, he wanted something new.

Well, since he's back, I'm guessing that he's gonna try something new this time and not use the old recycled music from the last one.

Actually, Batman score is just recycled music from Beetle-Juice. People think that Batman score is where the well-known Elfman style/sound began, because it's the most popular. But once Batman hit big, the man just couldn't stop recycling his work.

Wow. 1, 2 years ago. This thread would of been filled with Elfman hate.

I miss those guys.

But didn't Elfman and Sam have some tension last time around? I thought Elfman said he wouldn't be back...

I think that Christopher Young is working with him for a reason. :cwink:

Ugh. Similar to what Visionary said, Elfman's music sounds like something you would hear at a circus. The only pieces I find memorable are for the opening credits and the ending swinging sequence. Everything in between is mediocre and forgettable.

Elfman's main duty is probably going to be remixing the opening sequence for SM3. That is by far his most recognizable piece of Spidey music. They'll probably let Young worry about the new villain themes.

Besides, do you really think Elfman and Young can have a Newton-Howard/Zimmer collaboration? I don't think so. Elfman is more famous so he would try pulling his weight to try to get what he wants out of the orchestra. If Elfman ends up throwing a fit and leaving again it won't surprise me a bit.

Bring Back Boingo!

Nonsense! This won't be the first time Elfman collaborates with other composers. In Spy Kids he collaborated with John Debney! Want prove? Here:

Ah yes, you're right. John Debney, another composer that doesn't mean anything and doesn't have any memorable movie scores. Elfman had the pull in that collaboration, you can't deny it.

Dude, you're saying Elfman is a control freak and can't collaborate with other composers. That's bull. Look at his work on Spy Kids. He's able to collaborate with others and not be a diva. I think by May we'll see who was right.

EDIT:

Also, how can you say Debney doesn't have any memorable scores? The guy did Passion of the Christ. An Oscar-nominated score. And, he's very much on demand. He also worked on Sin City. So, that comes to show that you don't know what you're talking about.

I wouldn't necessarily call him a control freak. I'm just saying that Elfman's influence will be a huge part of any collaboration. I like his work on Spy Kids, and I'll love his work on SM3.

So who do you think went to who? Did Raimi ask Elfman to come back or vice-versa?

You know what's funny, have you ever listened to "The Flash" theme Danny Elfman composed that, but Shirley Walker R.I.P. did the music for it.

It has a very Batman feel to it as well.

Ok, go out in the street and ask people if they've heard of John Debney, and then ask if they've heard of Danny Elfman. So he did the Passion of the Christ, who cares? James Horner won an Oscar for Titanic and he recycled the score from Braveheart. And 3 people did the score to Sin City, when somebody like Hans Zimmer could have easily pulled the load and done the whole thing himself. John Debney is nothing compared to Danny Elfman, and neither is Christopher Young.
