So do I. Elfman's music is all over the place, like he scored the scene without looking at what's on the screen.![]()
I've never really been into the whole..."make the theme music memorable." I just want music that fit every scene perfectly, music that enhances what you're seeing on the screen. However, hire the right composer and you can have both. But it's too late for changing the main theme now, unfortunately.
no offence but I perfer the movie train sequence theme (top one) to the elfman theme (bottom one)
I completely understand what you're saying. The first thing I would have made sure of before hiring a composer for Spidey is, not to hire the two composers for Bats or Supes. This way you at least get a totally different sound for another big superhero film. A memorable MAIN THEME is not easy to come up with, period, especially when you've scored so many movies of the same genre like Elfman--that's one of his biggest mistakes as a composer.I want good music as well but spidey's main theme should at least stick in the mind, and to be fair it does now but only because of repeatedly watching the movies.
the first time I heard the 60's theme tune it stuck.
BTW, what year is Supes' sequel suppose to come out?

John Williams is the master and king of memorable movie themes, no doubt about it, don't forget JAWS.william's seems to do it with ease
superman
star wars
raiders
et
and most recently harry potter
you hear the open beat and you immediately know what movie it is.
oh well too late now.
I think it's ironic that in both movies you've had a busker singing the 60's tune and because it's so recognisable you always get a laugh from the audience, if the movie is remade in 20 years time do you think the same thing could be done with elfman's theme?
do - do do do do - do do do...
do - do do do do - DO DO DO!!!!
or
do do do - do do do - do do do do do do do do
hum the above and the public would be able to tell you the tune now try it with spidey's movie theme
OH NO!!I hate to rain on everyone's party, but to the contrary, a recent interview with Christopher Young doesn't indicate Elfman is working on Spider-Man 3 at all, which means Curtis either lied or was misinformed. In the interview (he is being interviewed about both Ghost Rider and Spider-Man 3), he says that he is keeping three of Elfman's themes: 1) the heroic Spider-Man theme, 2) the Green Goblin theme to represent Harry Osbourne taking over his father's role and 3) the "fate" theme that was in the second movie. Everything else, including Sandman, Venom, the black symbiote, etc. will have new themes composed by Young.
Read the interview here. It was posted two days ago, so it's pretty recent. The mods can lock this up now, because it's clear Elfman isn't co-composing or doing new themes for the third film.
2009...why???BTW, what year is Supes' sequel suppose to come out?

The main theme is not as epic as Elfman's Batman score (which is much better than Howard's, though I still like BB's music) or Williams' iconic Superman score, but it wasn't trying to be.
It was underscoring the character. And while it is not perfect it is good and I think his score for Peter Parker NAILS him. The sad mournful Parker theme is one of the best aspects of the movies. I also think GG has a great score and you realize it even more in the second when Harry finds the lair and it comes up and the sound is so menacing and good to hear again (like you missed it without knowing it).
I also really liked how he scored the ending of SM2 (especially when Peter swings away from MJ at the docks thinking he is leaving her).
Not Superman's level or his Batman scores but still very good and better than any other comic book movie score today.
I love the movie theme so your not alone.Spider-Girl;11217528 said:I think I am the only person in this thread that thinks the movie theme is good. I know when it comes on that it's gonna be Spidey right off the bat. No pun intended. I also think Young isn't gonna fail us in '3' either.
Like I said, I'm happy Young is handling Sandman, The Symbiote and Venom's theme music.
I wouldnt go as far as saying there deluded, the themes just represent totally diff characters in most peoples minds and so they come off as different.
