Elfman is Working on the Music

You know I will.

That's funny, because I thought damn-near the entire original Spider-Man score was out of place. To the point where I didn't know whether I was watching Beetle-Juice or Batman, both actually, being they sound the same. A so-so score would be Elfman's work on Spider-Man, that usually never enhance a scene, but makes you wonder was the composer blind, and just didn't see what was being shown on the screen.

Danny Elfman's train sequence was horrible, it's no wonder it didn't make the final cut, it was just more regurgitated Elfman music, as usual, that's all over the place and not focused on what's on the screen. And it was Sam Raimi's idea to put the Hell Raiser's cue in there, not Young's.

And even when Elfman was scoring the Hulk, can you imagine a director telling you, "I don't want to hear YOUR STYLE of music." As to say, it isn't good enough and I'm damn angry that the studio chose you as the composer. Why, because Ang Lee knew he going to get the same regurgitated sh:t that Elfman always delivers.
how is it out of place? elfmans spidey theme fits exactly who spider-man is. it's not everyday you get a great composer like elfman. young is good, he's a talented composer but I think he's not the exact guy to do part of the score for spidey. elfmans train sequence theme I liked better because it had more intesity and fit the action that was going on in the train sequence. same for the reest of the music he did in the spidey movies. I mean elfman has been my favorite composer for a long time, he fit that music into a scene that it works best in. take the peter and mj scenes for example, he puts a romantic song that fits with peter and mj's love. if theres a suspensful scene then he will do a song and make it become loud as soon as it pops up and you jump. if elfman was a bad composer than why did directors have him do the score? they do it for a specific reason and I think it's because of how great his music is. chris young will do good though, I have alot of faith in him and I think he will do a very good job.

At this point, I could not imagine a Spider-Man movie without Elfman's music behind it. Especially the opening titles and final swing; it's so pitch perfect.

that's why Sony still has all of Elfman's themes to use

buuuut we will be seeing them deviate from this in SM3.

we will probably hear
Main theme
Pete & MJ's Theme
Goblin theme

then from there we will have new music for the sandman, venom, black spidey

I hope Young has the taste to make the music fit with what the series has had so far

Unfortunately, even the trailer music was always 10x better than the actual music within the film. Go back and review SM1 and SM2's trailers and the SM3's teaser trailer music, they fit who Spider-Man is a hell of a lot more.

the music in the trailers is to add to the action so that it would make you want to see the film even more. now another reason why I think elfman is better is because he also makes sure that the people playing the instruments do it good. he doesn't finish until he feels it's good. elfman even said himself that it's difficult to do the music and make it fit into every moment and scene that it needs to be in. I think I heard after spidey2 or something that elfman wasn't going to return due to complications with spidey2's music. I mean this is just my opinion and I just feel that theres an empty space in the spidey movies without elfman, I feel that young will be able to not completley fill that space but fill it a satisfying amount.

my point is that elfman's music doesn't suck, it's sometimes intense, sometimes emotinal, sometimes suspenseful, etc. all the different genres.

Danny Elfman sure has a great talent. I have one question though, how did he go from doing Oingo Boingo to doing music in movies such as, "Sleepy hollow", "Batman returns", "corpse bride", "Nightmare befor christmas", and the ever so popular and my favorite, "Spider-man", "Spider-man 2"?

Tim Burton. He was an Oingo Boingo fan and hired Danny to do music for Pee-Wee's Big Adventure.

He started out in a musical theater group called the Mystic Knights back in the `70s. You can see him here:

And, in the `80s he started his rock band, Oingo Boingo. The band performed and made records till 1995.

wow!, elfman has alot of history in different music. I didn't think he did music back in the 1970's let alone be in a band. Danny still is the best though no matter what, even though he has been in a different music style band he still does the romance, intense, and suspenful typ music so pefectley.

Great Boingo songs:

-We Close Our Eyes
-Dead Man's Party
-Private Life
-Just Another Day
-Little Girls

Yes spideyhero12, Elfman is a beast in more ways that one!

I'm glad that Danny Elfman is working on the music again. Wouldn't be the same without him ;)

I like his music from Edward Scissorhands and Batman the most.
he did a good job with those I must say. Spider-man and Spider-man2 is obviously my favorite. he seems like onme of the most best composers I have ever heard.

Danny Elfman has done more stuff in the music industry than most movie composers. Heck, Danny is one of the few composers who also write, produce, and sing songs for movies. He did more stuff in Nightmare Before Christmas than John Williams does in ten movies.
