Or maybe you're just remarkably superstitious and/or poor.
Well, cheap anyway.

See, I don't think movies are really going to inspire anyone to read comics. How many people do you know who saw Spider-Man or X-Men or even Road to Perdition or A History of Violence and then, knowing they're based on comics/graphic novels, went out and read them? ****, how many people do you know who've seen movies based on plain old books and gone out to read the books afterwards?

You and your friends are a remarkably well-read exception to the rule, I'm afraid. Whenever my friends watch a comic book movie, the only thing it inspires them to do to get a better understanding of the characters is ask me a bunch of stupid questions.I love comic books now. I never really read them as a kid, but I loved Batman TAS, and the Spider-man and X-men cartoons. I loved the burton batman flms as well. Being a fan of these tv shows, I always got excited when comic book movies came out. Seeing thses movies has inspired me to start reading comics. After watching batman begins, I went and bought DKR and year one. Between Spider-man 2 and 3, I began buying ultimate spider-man trades, as well as essential spider-man. Not to long before spider-man 3 came out, I added Amazing and Sensational to my pull list. Seeing the X-men movies inspired me to read Astonishing, as well as the essentials.
I have a good friend who was never really interested in comic books. He really liked Wolverine in the x-men movies, and began reading Wolverine tpbs. A lot of my friends began reading comic books to gain a better understanding of characters from comic based movies that they enjoyed.
Right now, I'm living in Italy and can't find any comics in english. When I return to the states, however, I plan on reading the killing joke, long halloween, dark victory, and arkham asylum to prepare myself for the dark knight.![]()

As for movies based on plain old books, a lot of the books i read as a kid i chose to read after liking a movie based on the book
What other choice, exactly, did JMS have? It's a job. Joey Q is the boss. This isn't Office Space. No, bad logic is letting a CEO force you to break up a fictional marriage that's been in print for 20 years.
I'll just be honest with you and say that I will never get around to checking your band out. Thanks, though.
