Episode 05 - "Hiros" - Discussion Thread

nathan's characterization is all over the place. one minute he's an ass, the next he's really nice and outgoing. wtf? he's a cool character and i like the actor that plays him, but he's kind of lopsided.

Well, people are "lopsided" in real life...

But yeah it would have made more sense if after seeing Nathan fly Hiro offered him the use of his cell phone and then bought him the shirt and coffee...after all, who has money in their pajamas? Then Nathan giving Hiro a ride would have been more believable.

oh yeah, i believe in one of the paintings, peter is looking at a bunch of locker room doors, as if it's coming at him, or away from him. i believe that he will confront sylar, and will absorb sylar's power, and they will have a locker room epic battle with towel whipping galore =)

Mama pajama, Episode 5 is already being torrentized... 266000 SEEDERS!

Nathan's flight looked pretty damn good, just the way he took off and had that little "poof" gave me tingles :D.

Also, Claire's dad was pretty badass. I thought for sure he was going to put a bullet in the kid, but what he did was way better.

Does anyone still think Claire's dad is the bad guy? I think he is a big red herring.

He may not be THE bad guy but he's obvioulsy A badguy. Kidnapping the cop and wiping his memory; kidnapping Nathan at gunpoint...

don't forget, breaking and entering at mohinder's place. and the worst crime of all, being creepy.

u seriously didnt know that Niki had superstrength??
i thought everyone knew that since the 1st ep when she ripped dude in half
NOPE.... i figured her for just a crazy ****e.

but dam....... she is going to the top!

seems like no one reads anymore
excuse me for not wanting to spoil everything...

Question about Hiro and Peter and the scene in the train with the future Hiro, do you think Hiro has the ability to drag anybody into his space/time manipulations, or could he only do that to Peter because of his latent mimicking abilities?

The latter would make sense of him going to Peter and not Mohinder or any others.

Good episode but something confused me. In the last episode issac drew a picture of claire being attacked by the uluru monster. Now it seems like sylar is the one who attacks her.
That confused me too. I even made a thread asking who the guy with four arms is, but now the painting looks different.

Definitely. He basically "killed" the jock for all intents and purposes without ever laying a finger on him. I just loved him in that scene.

So I guess the question is:

What do you get when you mix SheHulk with Kitty Pryde?

So far he's just a "boy genius".

I can't wait to see everybody come together. NBC needs to start checking on their writers though.... so far there's quite a few inconsistancies between the show and the graphic novels on the website.

Peter's the only one in New York right now that's willing to answer Isaac's phone, and actually believe a space-time ninja when he says he's from the future.

Hell if Hiro did that to me I would of believed him too.

Finally watched it this morning. And man do these episodes just keep better & better.

-Nathan flying was nice. At first it looks him & black dude are about to throw it down with the stances they were taking. Then boom! Nathan takes off leaving the 2 eating dust. :word:

-Future Hiro. Was that it ? Damn I hope we see more of him down the road. From the way he was talking. I guess he came back on his own will and not on behalf of someone else. Like an order or mission. I'm guessing there's a chance that just like Trunks from DBZ with the whole timeline ****. That everyone is dead and Hiro is the only one left. I kinda got a feeling from future Hiro that Pete is defitnitly dead. He probably died from a big battle where he was the only amongst the group that had a chance to win against whomever the villian is.

-Ando. That's funny how he just walks into the house. Looking like a tired dad that just got off of work. "Honey I'm h .... oh **** !!!!"

-That scene with Pete leeching off of Issac's skills was tight. It can serve as an wake-up call to Isacc that you don't need to get high silly. :oldrazz: The painting was scary though. Sylar standing over Claire's corpse. Which looked like is missing more that just the top of it's head. :csad: :cmad:

-So the raping QB is still alive huh ? Just a damn shame :cmad: Loved what Claire's father did to him. Personally I would've gone with the bullet to the dome. But I guess wiping the kid's entire memory could work too.

Preview to next week's episode ...

Did I see right ? Did that bad inner self of Niki come out the mirror and tell her to do as she says ? Before kicking the **** out of her ex-husband.

Yeah. No matter how skeptical I am as an everyday human, if all of a sudden everyone on the subway freezes and time stands still, I'd find anything said by the one human not effected to be pretty believable.

yeah peter is snyc
maybe claire's dad isnt such a bad guy,well..he could have killed mr.quaterback but instead wiped his memories?.He aslo could have killed matt...but he didnt

If he is bad he's at least got a little conscience in him

My guess is that he started out a bad guy, maybe even a guy tasked with eliminating supers in one way or another... but now that he knows his daughter is one he may be undergoing a change of heart.

Maybe Claire's dad is looking for Sylar...hence kidnapping them and probing them.

No, peter is not like rogue. rogue steals powers. there is no evidence to suggest Peter does anything of the sort

So peter is like rogue?????

Not exactly, peter is like the mutant from generation x named (sync),who was badass by the way

ahh the power of ...waffles

nathan reminded me of "cannonball"...just me...ok:csad:

I really dont give a crap about matt and his "so hot sexy wife/marriage problems". I just dont:(

Uh, I'd be a little more unerved, if a total stranger just knew where i lived and showed up at my backdoor ..niki

D.L is a "Kitty Pryde" type...crap, i hate kitty pride, but what can you do?

no, he's neither, he was just being an upset father confronting the guy who tried to rape his daughter

I have daughters myself and believe me you, he did what any angry, yet responsible parent would do, if he had access to a mind wipping mutant

each episode keeps getting better and better

Well, this wasn't a good episode, but it wasn't as bad as it's been. My stance remains.

Great episode. Hiro and Petrelli together was hilarious. When Nathan flew and did the Superman Returns circle of dust when he broke the sound barrier - priceless.

Cruised around on the net and found some stuff.

The song Matt played for his wife is the old standard I'm Confessin' (that I love you), I couldn't tell whose version it was. The song used for the 2 minute promo was Together by Krystal Meyers from the album Dying for a Heart. It's on itunes.

Executive producer / director Allan Arkush is the only director to have directed Frank Sinatra AND Joey Ramone.

Wikipedia has a good breakdown of the symbol

A frequently appearing symbol linked to the new heroes strongly resembles a stylized RNA molecule. This symbol has appeared numerous times and is frequently in some way related to a hero:
  • In the swimming pool at a double homicide crime scene in which Matt Parkman was involved.
  • As a recurring shape shown scrolling across a laptop screen in a genetic profiling program created by Chandra Suresh.
  • On a drawing done by Peter Petrelli.
  • Frequently painted by Isaac Mendez.
  • On a post-it note on the map in Mohinder Suresh's apartment.
  • Written on a geometry textbook owned by Claire Bennet.
  • Written on pictures in Sylar's apartment.
  • As a tattoo on the shoulder of Niki Sanders' alternate personality.
  • Engraved on the hilt of Future Hiro's katana.
  • Printed on the front of Chandra Suresh's book.
  • Printed on the upper left corner of the 14th issue of '9th Wonders comic book, written by Isaac Mendez (The 13th issue that Micah was reading did not have the symbol).
  • A necklace around Mr. Bennet's special assistant's neck.
Wikipedia also has the best super power description I have ever read - Heroin-induced precognition.
