The Dark Knight Epitome Scene for Joker?

The scene, for me, that best defines the character is the moment where he's stumbled out of the truck and is shooting anything that moves.
Fearlessly he stands in front of the Batpod, screaming "HIT ME!"

In one moment I knew that Nolan understood the character and the fact that nothing can stop him and that beneath the mask of humour lies an unstoppable rage at everyone and everything. His unsmiling defiance reminded me of the murder of Sarah Essen.

The terrifying thing is that at one moment he's deadly serious and, even by his standards, is losing his composure and yet a few moments later he's laughing and jumping around.

Interrogation scene and the ending scene with the crowbar and the dogs.

Every scene, but I do love the above one, the way he attacks Bats like a wild animal with his dogs.

Plus, reminds me of TMWL when he's hitting him with the hammer.

the part where he starts laughing like a maniac after he's just taken a beating from batman:"you have NOTHING to threaten me with...nothing to do with all your strength" in a sweaty heap on the floor.

it was this moment in the film they got me to hate the joker....really ****ing despise him. i never thought i could hate the joker....because he's the joker. my favorite character. props to ledger/nolan for being able to make me hate him because i didn't think it was possible.

...oh and just for the record...when i mean hate i mean in a way that enhances the story/character...rather than it being a crap performance.

For me the Interrogation as well, forTDK08 reasons below, it's just one of my favourite scenes of all-time already, it's so pure! I still feel that head hit on the table everytime...lol!!

Interrogation scene all the way. Not just for Joker but how, even with a few minutes together, this'll probably be the closest to Batman and Joker relationship from the comics as we'll be for a long time.:brucebat:

All of the scenes from the film were the personification of the Joker in my opinion. But one that stands out most for me personally as a fan of the character and of the comics in general was the ending scene.

Is when Batman throws him off the construction site and Joker is just laughing his ass off while falling to his death. That scene creeped me out more because he just didn't care and he laughed at the prospect of death.

Great thread guys, my top 3 "now THAT is the Joker" scenes...

-The Mob introduction, pencil trick was a great way to show fans that this is still the murderous Mr. J.

- The Interrigation scene, wow... him laughing at Batmans hollow threats was so far gone, Heath should get the Oscar just for that whole scene from Gordon walking in till "Can I get my Phone call".

- Joker as Nurse. When I first heard about it, it sounded pretty Jokerstyle (the socks and make-up), but in action... wow.

bonus- loved the Money slide and the Joker taking the Rottys.

What scene did you think eptimized the Joker as the comic book joker.

For me it was him in the building at the end with the Dogs protecting him.

That for me really put the final touch that this was indeed the comic book joker.

my brother helped me write this...

I agree. That is when I saw it being as the "moment". When he was hanging from the building (at the end), I saw bits of Jack N.'s Joker and comic book Joker. But emphasizing Heath's Joker.:hoboj::brucebat:

Yea i would of liked to see him sitting in a chair on his own, just alone in his own little world, and then a grin comes across his face, then it gets bigger then all of a sudden he just starts laughing maniacally for no reason! i think a scene like that would really show how absolutly crazy this joker is.

Deffinitely would've liked to see that.

I'd have to say the whole interrogation scene would have to top the list. Like someone said here earlier, he showed such a wide range of personalities, hysterical, conniving, philosophical, maniacal...

During the interrogation scene when batman is just beating the joker senselessly and the joker says something to extent of, "...You've got nothing, theres nothing you can do, even with all your powers..."

ok, there are scenes that were missed that I just loved and laughed at, now even though the joke is a crazy, murderous person. It did make my eyes light up when he was onscreen. Is that a bad thing?
Scenes include:
1) When that guy is mentioning how many of his friends the joker had killed after Batman leaves him in the interrogation room. He mouth 10 after the other guy says 6.

2) When he mocks the guy after trying to take off Batmans mask to reveal his identity.

3) When Commissioner Gordon stops the joker and he says "hold on a minute" Or something like that. Then stops his knife funnily.

4)When they are laying down his weapons that were in his pocket of that suit, I seen a potato peeler. LOL

5)The Joker confronting Two face/Harvey Dent In the hospital not only dressed up as nurse but what he does, when Harvey shows him his fate by TF's coin.

The scene that sealed the deal for me was when he’s walking away from the hospital. It was so much the bit with the detonator, but the little details right before. As he’s walking out you see him doing his ‘lady walk’ and it’s revealed that he’s not wearing pants and you see his skinny little grandpa legs. At this exact moment I was sold on the character. The Joker is the showman that wouldn’t half-ass it and throw a lab coat over his suit; he’d commit to wearing the entire costume, no pants and all.

hahaha yea, afterall the joker is the greatest showman in the world!!!!

a scene that I don't think has been mentioned yet, but really stood out to me after the third time i saw the flick, was right after the guy in the jail blows up, they show the explosions and such, then they show the joker, everyone else is on the ground and its only the joker standing, his head down hair over his face and he kind of moves his head to the side looking at the destruction, that real quick shot, plus the music in the background was brilliant.

The exact second I was sold on the joker was the ho ho ha aha ohoh eh eh part of the mob meeting right before we see him, it was so creepy yet he was mocking them, once I heard that I was sold.

Oh yes, second time around that scene for me was even better, just something beautiful about the completely control and arrogance.

Superb.

The interrogation scene - That right there was pure Joker to me. He was threatened at all by Batman and he got a good laugh out of every punch and every hit.

Hanging upside down - Even with the blood rushing to his head, Joker can still keep a smile and can still tease and taunt Batman. Plus it's the speech that sums up their relationship perfectly, so it's hard to get better than that.

Broadcasting on TV - How can anyone say that isn't like the comics?

It was the interrogation scene, that is the closest we are gonna get to the relationship of Joker and Batman in the comic and also the end scene when he is hanging upside down and he says "I think we are destined to do this forever", i was mesmerised by the whole performance.

I agree.

But you know what else is a good scene that has been mentioned (but not as much as I thought it would be)

is the scene before the hospital scene

*** Joker slides down the money...burns the money...and than tells the Chechen that the city belongs to him...***

That scene is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO JOKER!!!...

The Joker always wanted to be on top of the Mob...it was always "HIS CITY" and Batman was always the one trying to fight for it back...you know?

That scene doesn't get enough credit I don't think

I loved that after he slides down the money he chucks a wad of cash at Lau and it hits his head. It reminds me of young kids throwing stuff at other kids. I laughed so hard.

The top 3 scenes of Joker for me are:

1) Interrogation room - Joker displayed all his personality in this scene, going from maniac to a crazed genius and mastermind, and it shows Batman really has nothing to use against him.

2) Street - After his truck flipped over, Joker dared Batman to ram him with Batpod. His dare to Batman to hit him is quite unnerving.

3) End - Joker screaming with glee when he's falling and assumed Batman had broken his One Rule was memorable, and him telling Batman that they are "destined to do this forever" was classic. Too bad they couldn't do this forever in the sequel.
