Justice League Ezra Miller Is The Flash - Part 2

...that’s strange, I could’ve sworn Zack Snyder was involved for about 90% of this movie’s production?

Nah, neither Zack nor Whedon were involved with this movie, it was made by WB Execs committee. :o

(It has 11 Producers / Executive Producer/ Associate Producers) !

Ezra was the star of this trailer for me. His reaction to the Batsignal was so funny. I guess I like him because a) I love Ezra and b) he reminds me of JL/JLU Flash.

I like fanboy Barry. To me it goes with "I've just pushed people and run away". He's gotta come into his own. I personally think the audience may really like him because he get's to say all the things we would love to say.

Like that's the bat signal. In the newest trailer I think that smile says it all about seeing a certain character.

That Batsignal scene is awesome! I love how they actually called it the "Batsignal" in the movie. Gives it a bit of much needed levity. On top of that, I love how Batfleck is like "yup, yes kid, calm down" and Diana is just looking back at him with slight grin.

Makes me look forward to it even more!

Eh, that scene came off incredibly forced to me. I don't really mind a younger, more naive Barry, but the way he's written and performed feels like they're trying too hard to make people laugh and relate to him. It was the same type of injected humor which soured my tastes on GoTG2.

Can anyone comment if this is how Barry is in the comics now? I used to dabble in Flash comics back in the late 90s to 2000s. That Barry is a complete stranger to what I see now.

I'm usually pretty picky when it comes to humor but I love the delivery of Ezra with his jokes so far.

I'm somewhat neutral, I think his delivery is fine, he's a real talent, they're lucky to have him in the cast, but I think he's been saddled with these lines to fill the laughs quota. People seem to enjoy them, so who am I to judge.

Haven't kept up with Barry in the comics, either, but I was under the assumption this Flash is an amalgamation of Barry and Wally, which works for me. Barry Allen, like lots of incarnations of Aquaman, is kind of a boring character. Infusing Barry with a little Wally and Aquaman with a little surfer dude makes them more appealing characters when they're slotted into a 2 hour ensemble film where every second of screen time counts. The only thing that drives me nuts, is the fact he's in forensics and is wearing finger-less gloves. Come on, man!

ITA with what you said. Everything about him feels forced and I don't like it. That "I just push people and run" line is even worse than the bat signal scene for me.

Also, current Barry is NOT like this in the comics. At all.

it sort of barry in name only. he's more like the wally west flash from JL and JLU cartoon.

Considering we will never get Wally...I'm fine with a mixture of Barry+Wally.

Also wouldnt be surprised if this is just Barry's naivete at play here. As he gets more experienced with battle and loss(Darkseid, Flashpoint etc), he grows into the more serious and mature Barry Allen.

There's more than just humor separating the two characters.
Saying that he's Barry in name only just because he's written to be funny is silly.

I love the mixture of personalities too. It makes for a more interesting dynamic in the movie.

Found this on reddit. Incredible!

Silver Age Barry Allen was often written to be a fairly funny guy with a bit of a soft spot for heroism. He sort of wore his heart on his sleeve a bit, and had fun being a hero. Not surprisingly, that's where Geoff Johns has gotten a lot of his inspiration over the years. And that's found it's way here as well.

In many ways, this is basically a younger take on that. Does the character have elements that comic books fans traditionally associate with Wally West?

To a point, but "being funny sometimes" and "hero worship" are not traits that are unique to Wally West in the least.

The Flash is probably the closest major character that the DC Universe has to Marvels Spider-Man. If there's someone cracking wise and having fun doing what he does, it's him. He can afford to much of the time, and he genuinely enjoys what he gets to do. Maybe even more than Superman.

Barry isn't using one kind of humor in the clips we've seen, either. He's just an all around charming guy, which naturally translates into some humor in the interactions he has. I very much doubt, based on his room full of tech, that that is ALL he will be. He's clearly very intelligent, capable, and driven. He seems to have some angst, as well.

But ask yourself: Whether this is spot on to what the character Barry Allen has traditionally been...does the portrayal serve the character, and make sense for what a man with the monikor of "The Flash" should be?

I very much think it does, from the slightly manic speech pattern, a touch of absentmindedness, and rapid changes in focus and mood (which make perfect sense for a man living life faster than everyone else) to his very earnest nature. The earnestness is what I'm noticing more than the inherent humor in the lines actually, and that's pretty much pure Barry.

Every Justice League member's humor seems informed by their nature. Barry's humor comes from his sort of fanboy earnestness...Bruce's comes from his stocism and being a man of few words, Aquaman's seems to rely on subverting his seemingly regal, stoic and badass nature, etc.

My reaction to the "I just push people and run away" line was basically :whatever:

Pretty cringe to me.

Nah, it was just Ezra's charm shining through. Fingers crossed he's gonna be one of the best character. Calm down, folks, ride ain't over yet. ??

I forgot how much I loved that shot from SS. He really is a blur. I loved the shot in the trailer of him speeding towards the camera so fast after WW takes out the troopers on the Batmobile. Also the rooftop moment with Gordon. I mean the speeds that Flash is supposed to achieve would make him incomprehensible to the human eye after all.

Haven't kept up on comics, but I don't remember the Flash generating lightning when he used his powers. I remember him moving so fast that people could not perceive his movement at all, which gave him a stealth quality in addition to his speed.

That fact that a convenience store camera captured his heroics (and secret identity) is disappointing.

Maybe the store owner can track him down and sue him for all the damage his lightning caused to his merchandise and electronic equipment? Better off letting the robber take the $38 that was in the register. Lol
