Bethesda Fallout 4

this may sound like a total noob question, but how do I beat that first Deathclaw in Concord?

do I just keep blasting it with my gatling gun?

once it gets close to me, it stays on me and keeps knocking me down.

You just shoot it with your gun. Just keep a distance to it.

There's a street-level building you can walk into that the Deathclaw can't fit in. You can shoot it through the windows safely.

On the main street at north end there is a two-story building with a broken balcony. I went inside to the top floor and hung out there after the Raiders were taken care of. I exited my Power Armor and took pot shots at the Deathclaw from the balcony, but beware if you get to close to the edge, it can snag your foot.

I'd also note, the Deathclaw will retreat once it realizes you can hurt it but it can't hurt you. I found I had to get down, or shoot at it from a fair distance away (it wanders around) in order to attract the monster back to where I could deal some significant damage.

thanks. I'll try out those tips!

and I just beat that Deathclaw!!

first, I tried bribing it with advanced tickets to The Force Awakens. But that had no effect!

So I just fired away and kept backing up.

The crafting system is really weighing down my enjoyment of the game. All the story stuff so far as been cool.

Isn't most of the crafting optional?

That would make it more difficult, but not impossible. The only real necessary crafting is the quest-based stuff.

I beat the game on normal without crafting a single thing. Enemy drops work just fine on that setting. If you have a super specialized build you may need to grind though.

I'm going through the game on normal and have had no real reason to craft anything at all beyond quest related stuff.

The entire crafting element of this game is a complete waste of time. Bethesda should have taken the time and resources they put into that aspect of the game and focused more on their storytelling, opening up their quest structure and actually optimizing the game for consoles.

The weapon modding stuff was better in New Vegas.

It's not a waste of time for people who enjoy it, but your point is well taken. It would have been nice to have the same freedom in Fallout 4 as you were allowed in New Vegas, which I fully expected. I love Fallout 4, but there are definitely some moments where I'm left wondering why they didn't take certain elements from Obsidian.

Cheater cheater pumpkin eaters be damned. :p

The console commands are a godsend for bugs, as long as you use them properly. The in game console can do a ton of stuff, Bethesda just need to warn people to cover their own ass.

They didn't embrace Obsidian's design choices because that would mean they would have to expand on their own limited design philosophy and actually admit on some level that Obsidian made a better role playing game.

The further I get into the game, the more I feel like they're just checking off boxes: Here's the obligatory HP Lovecraft quest, here's the obligatory VR segment, etc...

The game could also benefit from some narrative consistency for example:

When you get into Diamond City, they talk about how the majority of the people don't believe in synths or the Institute, but after you save Valentine, everyone know's about synths and Valentine's "one of the good ones" and they act as if they knew this all along.

They also need to stop making the world revolve around the player. In the original games, the player was important solely based on your actions and Fallout 2 even openly made fun of this style of storytelling. If you mentioned you were the chosen one from Arroyo, you were ridiculed by pretty much everyone.

It's not all bad though, the writing has improved and characters are more fleshed out compared to FO3 and Diamond City is one of the coolest settlements this series has ever had.

Crafting is necessary for the harder modes.

It should have been made more relevant on the mode that the majority of people were going play it on.

That would make it more difficult, but not impossible. The only real necessary crafting is the quest-based stuff.

I guess it's because I'm playing a punching character at the moment; I get obliterated by bullets running up to hit things. Lol.

Now that the XB1's backwards compatibility update is out, how do I access Fallout 3 through Fallout 4?

If you bought it digitally, they'll message you a code on XBL. It took me about 14 days when I bought it for the code to come in. After you put in the code, go to your games section, and scroll all the way to the right, and it'll be in your games to DL list.
