To me it screams of whiney anakin skye walker. Ill never be able to take blogger doom seriously

I don't know man,do you watch the news? The things that are getting blogged about aren't all Keeping with the Kardashians. A lot of the worst things to happen in this world of late have started on a blog. Those people want you to know why they do the evil they do.

Im aware, but again... its about attracting attention to spread awareness to a cause. Doom doesnt do that... he threatens and basically does what he wants regardless. He also doesnt want to work with people, he does things on his own.

I can't be in awe of Doom from the comics cause he's the Gary Sue of Villains. Batman's a Gary Sue at time but Doom takes it to a whole other level. There is nothing that dude isn't a master of, oh I guess blogging.

... i dont get whats so hard about him being a sorcerer and a genius in mechanics and most sciences hes basically an alchemist bending the two

No, i think de-powering him is the best thing that can happen to him. Joker is a great villain and he ainet a master of ****. I see as much potential in Doom than I do with him. With what has happened in Eastern Europe there could be some great story to tell with him. There is that saying of the best villains being the hero of their own story.

You forget about hand to hand combat mastery and technopathy. He also never really looses, cause even when it looks like he's been defeated, its always revealed later that it was all apart of his plan.

Not talking about FF, but in general magic always takes too long to explain for me in movies and is solved in the dumbest way possible.

"oh, how did he wake the mummy?" "A Magic spell!"

"Oh, how do we stop it?" "undo the magic spell!"

Personally, I've never seen a good magic vs. tech movie cause both of them require a large chunk of time to establish the rules of the world.

... but youre butchering a character to make him something he's not.... joker and doom are completely different characters and should remain as such. Doom's strengths are his physical power and his political diplomacy

Im fine with dropping hand to hand combat, and technopathy. They really arnt integeral to his character. His brains and sourcery are what he is known for

As for "all part of his plans"
.. honestly i think alot of that is his mentality. He refuses to admit loss or defeat. Hes a megalomaniac

I know people have been throwing around that Doom is a blogger. But isn't he also a programmer? So he blogs, many people do, but the programmer aspect is where the focus should and would most likely be.

Not really. It just show that the cast ages is similar to ultimate and the negative zone origin is borrowed. Thats where the line pretty much stops.

Not only the cast is younger but they also seem to share many elements of personalities and backstories of their UFF counterparts, especially Reed and Ben. Borrowing that is pretty consequential, at least to me.

Same thing with the Negative Zone. I would agree with you if we had any reason to believe that Trank would use it in a throwaway scene just to say he used it. But it looks like the whole plot of the movie is gonna revolve around it, Again, that's pretty consequential to me.

Now, I'm not saying that Trank is gonna stay close to the UFF origin story at 100%. He doesn't even have to. But I also think that it's a little bit harsh to say that Fox created their own story with almost no regard to the source material when its picked elements seem to play a big a part in the film...

Just is all sooo rudimentary and novice for him. Doom and Reed are suppose To be super geniuses whos
Minds can and will change the world

Reed is opening doors to new worlds
For christs sake. And doom is doing things reed and doom should of been doing in 3rd grade....

How am I butchering Doom again? I never said Doom and the Joker were the same. Sorcery is a choice that no other studio but Warner Brothers is willing to introduce into their universe. How many times has Doom faked his death with a Doombot?

Please state proof of their mannerisms... because im not seeing anything remotely familiar

Fox has "created their own story" with nearly every marvel film short of the wolverine, which is probably the closest adaptation they've done yet

The point isnt harsh at all its truth and valid

*cough cough* Doctor Strange is coming (and before anything magic dc is doing)

You're butchering doom by basically saying "strip him down into something hes not because its always worked for joker" if you strip doom, you strip the rest of the fantastic four as well

Are people still talking about every other movie that isn't this one in this thread after C. Lee deleted half this thread yesterday? Really?

But I'm not talking about Fox's other movies ! I'm talking about this new one and what we've known and seen about it so far. I see the UFF influence over almost everything.

And regarding the characters, you can't see anything familiar in their mannerisms/behaviour/hobbies ? ANYTHING ?

Johnny working at ease on a car isn't remotely familiar ?
Sue looking focused and professional at work and then deeply affected by her brother's state isn't remotely familiar ?
Reed looking like a quiet and unconfident science nerd and like a kid in a candy store as he walks through a science facility isn't remotely familiar ?
Ben looking like a tough and confident athlete isn't remotely familiar ?
Reed and Ben spending time together as kids while the former makes a science experiment related to his future work isn't remotely familiar ?

Well... to each their own I guess :csad:

Remotely familiar? That sounds about right.
Identifiable as the Fantastic Four? Not even close.

College age Doom was written in the 60s before the Internet. My guess is that he's going to be more programmer than blogger and will have made a number of breakthroughs in AI. We'll hopefully see some Doombots.

If he's a programmer, I wouldn't have much of a problem with that. However, I don't think Toby Kebbell misspoke about the blogger thing. It's their way of explaining his name.

Pay closer attention. Sometimes other movies are brought up to compare and use as examples. Their's nothing wrong with that if it cycles back to the fantastic four and are used to prove a point... which it has and did. Whats off topic is posts like yours

I see a baseball playing ben which really shows nothing about his character... i see sue and johnny looking super serious... and reed being maybe a bit nerdy... the trailer barely showed anything. And what i saw just didnt feel like much

Johnny working at ease on a car isn't remotely familiar ? I liked this. Actually one of my favorite moments in the trailer.
Sue looking focused and professional at work and then deeply affected by her brother's state isn't remotely familiar ? This is just generic female character. Nothing about that was specific to Sue.
Reed looking like a quiet and unconfident science nerd and like a kid in a candy store as he walks through a science facility isn't remotely familiar ? Nope. Even in college, Reed was confident. Curious, yes. Unconfident science nerd, no.
Ben looking like a tough and confident athlete isn't remotely familiar ? Too skinny, too short, not playing football, too serious. Ben flying a fighter-jet or playing football would have looked like Ben. This was just some guy playing baseball unless we already knew it was supposed to be Ben.
Reed and Ben spending time together as kids while the former makes a science experiment related to his future work isn't remotely familiar ? Nope. Ben and Reed met in college.

...

no, there is a discussion going on about the depiction of sorcery and magic in superhero movies which relates to the character of Doctor Doom who is a character from Fantasic Four lore who someday might even show up in one of the movies

I have heard people say the trailer gives us good insight into each character but I think they must have seen a different trailer than me.

-Ben and Reed have been friends since childhood ala the UFF.
-The military plays a large role in this movie (maybe the Baxter building is a Think tank like the UFF)
-The nature of the Negative Zone experiment involves those cylinders instead of a portal like the comics.
-And we know there are multiple attempts to reach the Negative Zone (White suits and the Dark suits)
-Franklin Richards

I mean this is an average voiceover trailer and look at Prometheus' trailer.

You don't get any sense of what the actual movie is about or who the characters are in relation to one another. It's just creating atmosphere about how it's similar to Aliens.

Creating speculation is part of the meaning of a teaser trailer? Not answers. Agreed.
