You know, if there are FF fans who don't like this movie because they want to see their beloved characters given the appreciation and respect of an accurate adaptation, I think that's a perfectly valid reason not to like the film.

And if there are fans (or GA members) who are okay with the changes because they like to see adaptations go in different directions or because they're willing to look past the changes if they think the film turns out to be good, I think that's fine too.

I'm no trying shut down anyone venting or voicing their opinions, but can we at least stop with the arguments on this point as if there's a right or wrong answer?
Quick, somebody dig around and see what the blonde from the Comfort Wipe commercial thinks!

Because that'd be about as relevant.
I turned it off when he started drooling over the Collider piece. Sounded like Collider threw some of that Fox paycheck his way.

actually. i haven't really seen anyone flop sides.. just alot of newbies have come in and us "fanboys" are trying to fend the hoards of... and set them straight haha :woot:
I agree. The peolpe 'loving' the trailer are
a) mostly newbies
b) people who start their posts with 'I don't care about the FF/I don't know anythithing about the FF, but...'
c) the usual suspects

It feels very grounded

So are we looking at them having a trip to the Negative Zone three times in the movie?

Just seems a bit repetitive storywise.

from the amount of damage control we've seen in the last few days I'm sure Fox PR has been throwing around plenty of kickbacks at everyone with an audience.

Especially if the scenario is that the first trip goes fine and then the second, perhaps government one, goes wrong.

He actually did.

In the future, Rogue is kidnapped and being held at the Xavier School, which has been converted into a Sentinel camp. And there's an entire escape sequence where Magneto and Iceman save her.

Also, later in the film, she would've siphoned off Kitty's powers, and kept Logan in the past, when Logan wounded Kitty.

Of course, this was all cut. However, it'll be restored in the DOFP "Rogue Cut" that's releasing this year.

Sentinels already exist by that point. Still a plot hole and still poor writing. You actually have a fan beloved character that can absorb the powers of other mutants and you don't even use them?

And no I don't plan on watching any Rogue cut. It bugs me how the MCU films which I enjoy immensely are trashed by fans as being formulaic and childish but Fox's films somehow get a free pass for being the same movie over and over: Evil humans want to harm mutants. Charles and Erik clash over how to deal with it. Pointless scene where they play chess. Erik works with Xavier initially but then turns on them in the end. Wolverine gets a ridiculous amount of screen-time. Meanwhile, you have crap continuity and plot holes galore.

Apparently you still have to check your brain at the door for Fox's "mature" and "sophisticated" interpretation of adolescent literature.

 You're seeing that here? I haven't noticed that at all.

To me very little has changed other than the number of posts in the forum and the number of people participating who were never here before.

I'm actually talking about fanboys and geek pundits across various websites. Its directed more toward the pundit class then anything else, but i've seen some fanboys jump on the bandwagon as well , though here not so much.

Lol. I was talking more about the pundit class on different news sites and fanboys elsewere.

Wasn't it said that Xavier was taking a higher dose than Hank?

Why would he need to? And why does it have anything to do with his legs? Because they wanted it that way for the plot. Otherwise, it makes absolutely no sense.

Ahh, got it. I guess I haven't paid much attention to what's been going on out there, but it's probably not surprising because a lot more people are probably getting involved now who only know what they're seeing in the trailer.

If I were to do some wild speculation, I'd say:

First mission from Baxter institute fails to go to Negative Zone (I refuse to say 'N-Zone':oldrazz:, but FF get amazing powers).

Military gets interested because FF got amazing powers, builds a new machine and that mission actually makes it.

Military may not even know or understand about Negative Zone and may be more interested in powers.

that's what i'm seeing too..

the 4 do it, the machine explodes and they get powers.. people die

the gov seizes everything, hacker doom works his way into one of the spots to be part of the new test, in hopes to gain power. either he's successful and there's another accident, ( if there's only one, it could go in either space)

Doom heals, gets better, and then wants to harness something in the negative zone and the 4 try to stop him

that's all i can think of.. unless there's a surprise villain and it's the annihilation wave that's "coming"

d)Long time comic book fans that frankly couldn't be bothered to come into threads with aggro self righteous indignation spewed by other fans that have set themselves up as the arbiters of who is and who is not a real fan of the FF?

Yeah, that's the camp I've been in since the firestorm of MBJ's casting made these threads a no go and I am sure that's the experience for many here on the Hype. People got UNHINGED about Trank's twit pic of some puppies in here. It was hard for a lot of us to take these threads seriously after that.

But please... Don't let that stop anyone from stewing in their fanboy/girl juices.

I think it may go beyond that. In the scene where Mara is analyzing the monitors, it looks like there's a chance portals to the negative zone are getting opened randomly across the globe.

It would explain the reason there's images of a military plane over mountains and a plane in the 'column of light'.

There's definitely more to their followup trip than Doom trying to get there for more power.

Good call. The map circles being N-Zone portals

I think I'd be able to give everything else in this film a pass, and Doom had his "Latverian Ruler" background. Or at least, its set up to be explored in future films.

For instance, if they said Doom/Domashev was Latverian royalty and government contractor, who had invested in the experiment and takes part. Of course, he gets scarred, blames Reed, attacks using the same tech he provided the Miltary and Franklin Richards (and perhaps he still gets technopathy as well, increasing his already genius level intelligence), and is then defeated. And perhaps in an after credits scene, show him returning to Latveria, planning his revenge with an army of Doombots.

But of course, we're get hacker domashev.

Nice catch.

I still think Doom sees something when the three white suit astronauts are in the Negative zone. The answers.

With Latveria being in the movie is highly likely that Doom will be latverian in any case

Also possible. I got similar vibes from that shot. Actually it reminds me a lot of that panel in Books of Doom when Doom gets caught trying to rescue his mother:

Not that I think we would be so fortunate as to see that sort of angle in this movie.

I thought it was an insert shot of someone watching the Dark Knight Rises.

simple.. why want a film to be great that's ultimately nothing like the characters you know and love, and just a hollow shell of who they are suppose to be. ?

This film doing good, actually causes more harm. it can change the books and the way the younger generations perceive these characters to be.

if this film does well or decent.. it could prevent us from seeing the characters we actually do know and love from finally getting a proper film.

And by proper you mean a Disney film. The hate for this movie is absurd. If this film succeeds both critically and commercially that is THE definition of "proper film".

OK grasshopper... sure...

:whatever:

because everything Disney does is cute and cuddly... :whatever:

Nothing has indicated that Latveria is in it. And if it is, he likely isn't its ruler.

Though, we could see him use his new found power (and already genius level intelligence) to conquer his homeland at the end of this film.
