Let's just say I didn't get this kind of vibe from it:

Well, let's hope that we get that kinda F4 movie eventually. :woot:

Does anybody remember the early rumours about the movie being set in the 60s? Because that would've been awesome.

The fact that the Thing looks exactly like he does in the comics carries more weight as a counterargument to that than "no undies" does as an argument, I'd say.

So wait... you think the one image of the Thing from the trailer looks exactly like the comics?

He's not as wide as he in the books, they kinda gave him a little more streamlined look like Korg kinda has.

I don't think the Thing design (what I can see, aka very little) is that bad (shock! gasp!) but I also don't recall his comic form having a bunch of spikey bits.

At least not his classic form as he has been portrayed 99% of the time.

Like everything else in this, they didn't give anyone much to go on, no doubt so cries of "but you haven't seen anything yet!" could remain as the defensive tactic of last resort.

As long as Fox controls these characters I don't believe we ever will.

I hadn't heard any rumors about an FF set in the 60's but I know a lot of us discussed it. Yeah it would be totally awesome.

What could possibly be the point of those stupid things? Maybe RINO without the suit is like some rubbery, shapeless mass, unable to maintain human form? much like miles teller

Lol :woot:
From what they have said themselves though it appears they will have trouble dealing with their "disabilities" (:whatever:), so yeah, I figure the springy suit is to stop him going as floppy as a Eunuch's member, just like Johnny's suit looks like it's designed to contain his flames (and blare out some loud tunes when required...I wonder where the sub-woofer is?).

I don't know how anybody can get "bad movie" from this teaser. IMO, it was a good teaser - did its job well. The GA are talking about it positively (they're the primary target after all, so that's good) and it looks pretty good.

Now I know that good teaser does not equal good movie, but I stand by my belief that while it may be a decent or even good film... it'll probably fail as a Fantastic Four movie. But, even though I'm a huge fan of the 616 F4 and I do want them to be adapted properly, I can enjoy a decent movie that is F4INO.

Heck, I do that every time I watch X1. :oldrazz:

So yeah, my 2 cents.

you could sell it as a "mediocre" trailer... but a good trailer? no... it's incredibly generic. Dark broody images, close ups, and ominous voice overs seem to be a trap to get people interested in a film for some reason. and many of you fell for it, hook line and sinker.

He did for a spell a ways back now (when Sharon Ventura became a female Thing he mutated further). Wasn't a great design, lasted a year or 2 I think, was reversed and never gone back to (afaik). 'Pineapple Thing' is what I called it.

naked and a feint orange suddenly doesn't matter because he "looks" like comic thing? :shr:

Would need to see it from the front with his face before giving it a thumbs up or down. Atm, we know its a big rocky dude, might look like the bust pic with the face, but that's it.

I think that raggedy god awful Doom might look ok from behind (a brick wall)

Everybody looks better from behind.

That's right, I went there.

Sooo.. About Borg-Reed. Who here thinks he'll stretch anything except his arms in a fight?

It's clear from the low budge on this film and the crappy flame effects on torch, they spent the FX budget on the Thing. On the first FF movie they spent the FX on everone but the Thing, so it's a bit ironic.

I think Sue is just going to disappear, no special light bending effects like we saw from the Story film (which I thought looked cool, whatever you think of those films), nor are they going to do the Hollow Man effects as were drawn in the Ultimate FF books, where she disappears a layer at a time revealing internal organs and such. This would cause a ratings issue anyway, and be too expensive for the cheap ass budget on this film

Reed as you said, is just going to stretch arms and legs. Again whatever you thought of the story films, the scene where he fights Doom in the first film and rolls around like a wheel then opening up to a huge parachute blanketing Doom and then using himself as a channel for the water from the fire hydrant, that was exactly how he fought in the comics, and one of the few bright spots of the film.

So the only one of them that is going to have any kind of decent effects behind them is the Thing. The problem is he is going to pale in comparison to say CGI hulk from Age of Ultron. But that's what you get from an A+ budget film vs. a cheap hack pennies on the dollar budget from Fox.

Which is really ironic considering how great the effects were on Apes. But that film had double the budget of this one.

About the really dumb springs on Teller's disability containment suit, I agree, he'll probably be able to only stretch his arms and legs.

Probably won't do it much though. Having that kind of disability must be really painful.

I remember that. You might even assume this look was loosely based on that, *if* comics hadn't been banned from the set

I think I'm the only one not seeing the supposed "low budget" of this movie. First of all, it was just a teaser, in which most scenes were before they became the Fantastic Four, so of course the scenes showcased pre-powers wouldn't require much CGI. And the scenes after they get their powers look perfectly fine to me. Plus, the VFX they did show will no doubt be tweaked, as with every single other movie. I think some people may be projecting their own misconceptions onto this film for some reason.

The trailer showed me nothing low or otherwise of the budget. The teaser answered none of those questions.

honestly.. it's the green screening that bothers me the most effect wise.. it wreaks of "once upon a time" green screen quality.. which unfortunately.. green screening locations just never looks real, no matter how much money you put into it... the best i've ever seen it be done was Avengers.. and even then you can tell parts are fake. And this film is CLEARLY not putting an avengers level budget into it.

Finally saw the trailer, I guess I'm surprised that some are acting like it was knocked out the park as I honeslty felt it was nothing special and about what I expected.

I was kind of hard on the Ant-man trailer because it was a MS film and I expect them to really wow me, but this FF trailer? All I can say about it is as a teaser trailer it wasn't horrible, but I don't think it was great either.

I guess I see it as for those who want to be excited about it, this trailer was probably enough to get you going.

For those who were leaning against it but still open to seeing it, this could possibly sway you into wanting to check it out.

For those who know they simply are not going to see this as it does not appeal to them for any of their own reasons, there was nothing there to really change your mind.

Kinberg and Trank keep tossing around the $100 million dollar figure for a budget, so that's probably the cap. That it is a ridiculously low number in comparision to pretty much every other comic book movie that has been released over the past few years or currently in development. Especially given the nature of the team's powers, which would require a DOFP, GOTG or Avengers level budget to display competently.

This is an "A" level team given a "D" level budget, and apparently some people are ok with this.

Hmmm…I'll admit the trailer wasn't half as bad as I was expecting. It actually looks like a pretty cool small sci-fi movie. Not what I was hoping for with a Fantastic Four reboot…but definitely doesn't look bad. I'll refrain from passing judgment until a full trailer is released with actual dialog rather than some knock off voice over. Still not crazy about the cast but there's possible potential there.

I saw it as...

If you are here as a fan of the actors (which was me in the first 2 movies) -- then the trailer was a great view for you. You should be VERY happy.

If you are here as a fan of the UFF and not so much 616 F4 -- It was probably very intriguing to you and definitely increased your appetite for more.

If you are a fan of 616, as in decades fan, then you are probably not real happy about now, BUT....will probably still wait to see what Thing and Doom really look like before writing it totally off.

I'm not sure we have any "regulars" to this forum that are TOTALLY OFF of this movie....they can't because they love this comic too much and they can't let go of the fact that just maybe they will get at least a glimpse of what they loved throughout their childhood.

And it's 100% possible for a superhero/comic book movie to skimp on effects because it's not in the budget.

Broken record here, but look at the BayTurtles movie. The director HIMSELF said that the movie majorly featured Megan fox and not the turtles because the turtles were just too expensive to film extensively. And their budget was...125-150 million I think.

Just food for thought.

Adjusted for inflation a $100 million budget today would be the same as the budgets to X-Men and Daredevil.
