I didn't see ASM or ASM2 in the theater and I have no intention of seeing this one either. Redbox it! Actually I didn't even redbox ASM2, I waited for it to hit my subscription channels. I didn't want to waste my money on a movie I was obviously going to dislike. Money doesn't come easy.

Yeah that was definitely an immature comment from him, BUT, in the big picture, most people never heard it.

well mass GA no.. (but in all honesty i don't see them currently enthused about this film, hell the avengers, jurassic world, and star wars trailers were trending for a few days on facebook, but this was gone after a day) but the fans... yea, we all know about it.. and it was a big turn off and disrespect to the fans.. so for me i have a hard time wanting to give this film anything even my free time.

True...but there are MANY FANS out there that go to movies weekly, my family is one of them, that have never been to this site, or any site like it, nor are they on twitter.

If you look at the percentages I would venture to say that it is probably pretty easy to see that a good 80% of fans on this site and others like it are probably on twitter, tumblr etc...in far more numbers than the average movie goer that goes to movies all the time, but probably couldn't tell you the name of the director of any of them.

Just going by my family, who liked the first FF ok, didn't like the 2nd one at all except for the Silver Surfer....would probably take a look at that teaser and say...hey that looks kind of interesting I'll give it a try. They wouldn't know 616 from MK from UFF...and they would probably find the teaser very interesting.

In fairness, those are all sequels to wildly successful franchises. They're popular with geeks and with the GA. FF doesn't really measure up in comparison, with or without this movie. Especially considering there wasn't much to see in the teaser anyway.

Agreed. Stuff like that makes it hard for me, as a hardcore fan, to support this film in anyway; No matter how good it may or may not look. At least, from trailers.

You know, I thought about this.

I think I may really like this film.

Apart from the whole blogger Doom, I really liked everything Trank has said about the film. You can't deny that in some of the stuff he talked about with the film he has a good direction for the film.

But thinking about it more and more. I never have really been interested in the Fantastic Four. Only character I liked was Thing. Love Thing but everyone else was just ok. I was never into the sci-fi comics which is funny since I'm a big Star Wars fan. I never was interested in Star Trek until the reboot and love 1. Into Darkness was meh but love the first. I never have been into Green Lantern or Guardians of the Galaxy.

The thing that sells me is the sci-fi horror approach especially the horror part. I love Hellboy comics and there is a lot of horror influence in that. I love Snyder's Batman run where there is a lot of horror influence with Death of the Family, Endgame, and issue 5 of Court of Owls where Batman loses his **** in the maze. Also in the current Action Comics Superman comic, Pak is doing a horror type story with Ultra-Humanite as the villain (Superman's first villain in comics) and I'm loving that.

Again, I know many purist don't like the direction but I really think so far everything Trank has said and the sci-fi horror approach it looks good as a film.

But **** that blogger Doom. Only thing I dislike.

Sci-Fi horror has nothing to do with the FF nor has it ever been apart of the FF, even in the Ultimates. They are imaginaughts, using science in a way to help people, not to be explorers.

Trank's ideas might be a great idea for a sci-fi thriller, but that's not what the FF is about.

I noticed that with mainstream sites like Empire there was little interest, they reported that the trailer was out but little beyond that. Its a magazine that was all over DOFP but with this there seems to be little interest, and that sort of lack of interest could cause problems with audience awareness. Heck they have a feature on the possible X-Men TV series.

Agree. I think it could be a good film in it's own right. Just think that we are all wanting a comic book film that will somehow reflect the FF and fit in the universe that has been created.

Marvel have done something special and we all want the FF to somehow build into that. The X-men are doing good with Fox, but I can't see how FF would join them.

I know it's wrong and unfair to the people creating this film, but deep down I want them to fail and the rights to go to Marvel. It might be the best sci fi film of the year (many others were done on budget) but I'd still not be able to love it.

You just epitomized the thought process of someone who is a comics/cbm fan, but isn't an FF fan, and has been exposed to this film (particularly through these early marketing attempts). And apparently, that makes up a great deal people (which is worrisome for hardcore, lifelong fans).

Good or bad thing..... that depends on who's reading your post.

I'm not saying I'm gonna defend this film to death. I'm still pissed at the blogger Doom because Toby killed it as Koba in Dawn. He was more badass then any villain in any of the comic book films from last year. Frankly I'm open to any new interpretations. I mean look at all the Batman origins:

Batman Begins
Batman Mask of the Phantasm
Batman Year One
Batman Zero Year
Batman Earth One

I am always open to new takes. Change can sometimes be good. It isn't a bad thing but again, sometimes you have Frank Miller come in and make Batman force Robin to eat rats in the Batcave where you're like, "that isn't the right take".

Eh, they did enough for me to go pay and see it. I wasn't going to, but now I will be. Hell, it won't be the first or last bad film I pay to see this year. I'm hoping it is good though. I probably will nevah read a F4 comic.

Yeah,and that's the thing that irritates me the most.It's like we're going back to 1970's approaches to CB filmaking. Back then it was "We got the name & costume.Everything else is different,but hey-you're lucky to get even that!"

And the fact that people are satisfied with that in this day and age is beyond perplexing.

The only time I heard mention of a 100 mil was when Trank talked about how much Chronicle grossed.

there hasn't been any confirmation on the budget that I've seen.

Trank called FFINO a "$100 plus blockbuster" in the Collider interview.

Umm blue and black evoke emotion. You know nothing of film or color theory if you cant comprehend that...

Colors play a massive part of evoking what you want the audience to feel and enhance whats happening in your story. What message you want to get across. They just arn't "there for the sake of being there"

No, colors CAN evoke emotion. They CAN play an integral part. Nowhere is it written that they must mean something just because they are used, as a filter or otherwise. Blue is a cool color. That does not mean it HAS to evoke a particular emotion every time it is used. Just because someone uses a blue filter does mean every emotion is intended to be interpreted as "cold" and "dark".

If you honestly believe that film theory suggests that a blue or black color in a visual MUST mean something or other, than perhaps you don't know anything about film and art, period. Because there's more to art and its interpretations than basic color theory.

I'm amazed that someone can slap together some dark hallway pictures, a truck driving through a field ripped from Interstellar, a plane flying over hills ripped from TDKR, a deep voiceover, some generic music, and suddenly fans are slobbering and fawning all over the place as if they've had some profound experience and this is a work of high art.

That’s a bit much. Some people like the trailer. I don’t see anyone acting like this is the best thing they’ve ever seen, or that this is a profound work of high art, etc.

I wish people would stop using Batman as an analogy for every superhero or fantasy franchise. Just because it worked with Batman doesn't mean it'll work for Plastic Man, or Booster Gold, or Flash muthaflippin' Gordon.

Ok...that's a nice thought. It has little to do with what I wrote. Perhaps you should go back and read my statement in context.

For the past year, everybody associated with this film who has spoken about it has used the phrase 'grounded and gritty' to the point it has become comical.

Now we get the trailer and it looks like 2001 A Space Odyssey - which nobody would describe as 'grounded and gritty

No film could possibly be more than one thing. Heaven forfend.
