I can to a degree. Some fans I know are fine with changes from the books, even big ones. They still like the books, so I while I know my position differs from them (especially on this one), I can still consider them as fans.

Yep. Marvel is a multiverse. What's the point of watching an alternate universe version of the characters if it's ripped directly from the page? I really don't want to see another film like Watchmen that's so overly reverent that it can't go it's own way. I've read the comics. I don't need to experience the exact same stories all over again.

I'm just as open to creative liberties in the film adaptations as I am in the comics. I just need the film to capture the spirit of the characters, and I hope it will, but maybe it won't. Reserving judgment since we barely got any dialogue or scenes to judge that aspect on yet. As an F4 fan, I wish there were more character shots/short dialogues but the tone grabbed my interest.

The reporter specifically mentions race, how can it not have anything to do with it?

Right but Fox needs show more dialog. To me, what matters is that Johnny is still immature, Reed is still aloof, Sue is still the de facto leader and Ben is grumpy. We also need the lines, "flame on" and, "it's clobbering time" in the film. It's criminal to omit those.

We see Ben up to bat, maybe he mutters "it's clobbering time" before knocking one out of the park.

But no, by the final act those words need to be said when they're in action, they'd truly be running from the source material if they can't embrace those catchphrases

Not knocking the dudes acting ability though, I've seen him perform well in quite a few roles, the biggest thing (no pun intended) is gonna be how his voice sounds coming out of the things mouth, it's just hard to picture

They will probably alter/distort it somehow. No way it works as is.

Teller's voice in the trailer sounds like he hasn't even reached puberty yet.

If this film shot for the same tone with bright saturated colors, it would go down as one of the worst trailers of all time. The colors were fine. I liked the trailer. I was still disappointed because I want to know if they got the characters right yet none of them open their mouths.

And yes, you can like something and still have it disappoint you.

And you're right, because bright colors and daylight do not invoke a serious or mysterious tone. Thus why the had a dark pallet

I dont think you need an exact page to screen adaptation. Marvel is doing a great job at adapting stories while keeping the spirit, characteristics, and feel very much alive while still twisting and altering just enough to keep the fans happy yet still surprised without making the characters into something that's not familiar to the fans.

This is a concept i think FOX has typically failed across 80% of the board... majority of the xmen dont feel or acr like the xmen from the books, just hollow shells, doom never has. . And now another bout of that with fantastic four. Dont get me wrong, theyve put out some good, and great movies even... but would it still be amazing to have proper adaptations that "feel" like the books? Definitely

Because its not really about what the reporter says... irs about what he is saying. The lack of care or empathy. It also hasnt stopped their either.. there's been alot of disrespectful to fans, tweets from both trank and mbj

Nicely said. I don't think Fox is putting out great CBMs consistently though. I don't get that at all. First Class was good but DOFP was not. X2:X-Men United is Fox's high water mark to me.

Did you notice Josh Trank glancing sidelong at Kinberg for approval through the entire thing? It reminded me of a parent sitting next to their child while they are having to explain to their neighbor that he was the one who vandalized their mailbox.
