Does renting a disc with a Netflix sub count as "paying for it"? I suppose it does.

But there are other ways, me buckos. Yarr!

Streaming for free online a couple months after it comes out.
^this. there a ways to watch this movie without anyone making money with it. and without paying anything for it. semi-legal streaming sites or torrents are the way to watch Fant4stic

So I was listening to the Cracked podcast, and there's a group of film journalist's and industry insiders talking about upcoming films in 2015. One of the writers said that there are two big budget blockbusters coming out this year being helmed by novice directors with no big movies under their belt; one of them is incredible and will blow people away, and the other is a mess that is going to go through massive reshoots.
I'm assuming that he's talking about Jurassic World and FFINO. If this guy is to be believed (and I doubt he has a reason to lie), there is some validity to what we've been hearing. He flat out says that this film could be said film makers last big studio film. He remained tight lipped about exactly which movie it is, but a minute or so before in the conversation he mentions those two movies by name.

It should be mentioned that the podcast was taped and released 2 weeks ago. A lot more information has come out since then, which paints a far better situation than the rumors suggested at the time.

Even though what the guy said in the podcast would still be true, even two weeks later.

I that that rumour goes back to this story

http://www.hitfix.com/motion-captured/why-justin-lin-makes-sense-as-the-new-director-of-star-trek-3

One of the things I've been fascinated by is this sudden push where studios are handing over giant franchise movies to fairly untested filmmakers. Over the last couple of weeks, I've been hearing some stories about how those jobs have worked out. In one case, I hear things are going very well, and people seem to dig the end result. In another case, I'm hearing that the director has stopped taking phone calls from the studio and they're looking for someone to supervise reshoots.

I brought it up because I wasn't expecting to hear that, I listen to Cracked on and off and that one kind of came out of nowhere. Even if it was recorded half a month ago it's still of interest that these "unsubstantiated rumors" were regarded as more than just hearsay in said podcast. And once again, this is from a group of highly-regarded journalists and industry insiders, one of whom has read the script to star wars, Avengers 2, and other high profile movies. I think that same guy was the one lending credence to the FF rumors. That doesn't exactly paint a pretty picture for this film.

"Where there's smoke..."

In other news, Marvel's very short teaser for Daredevil shows promise.

A dark and gritty character with a dark and gritty setting/tone. As it should be.

Letting the characters and the source material dictate what sort of tone/approach is appropriate for the film? Craziness!

A true artiste! cannot have his creativity stifled by trivialities such as existing characters and 54 years of history!

Yeah.... and all the info that has come out, painting the production of F4 in a better light, has come from the studio.

We can't take that at face value. They'll never come out and say "All of the rumors are true, our movie is a mess, and you should'nt see it".

Fox, and everyone else involved in the production, will paint it in the best possible light until they can no longer.

Case in point, Ryan Reynolds has now said that the Green Lantern production didn't have a functional script.

No matter how bad or good the movie might actually be, you'll almost never hear somebody bad mouthing it during production or immediately after release.

Very true, the cast of the first two F4 movies kept very quiet for quite a while....and still have only shed glimpses of light on the problems they saw while filming.

Meanwhile Deadpool has had a great script for 3 years and they can't get the damn thing off the ground.

The world just isn't fair.

It starts filming in a month.

They announced the reboot in 2009, Dasher. I wasn't talking about shooting dates. Keep moving those goalposts.

now see i have a problem with RR comments. Not blaming him in any way but hearing something like this makes you wonder what in the world is going on at the studio? How in the hell does a 150 mil plus production not have a functional script? It sounds so alien to me and unbelievable.

Happens a lot more than you'd think, most of the time for the worst.

But every so often, a film will get REALLY lucky. The script for Iron Man was still being written while they were filming, so RDJ just ad-libbed a lot of stuff.

And that worked out REALLY well for everybody involved.

Obviously, not always the case.
