Another extremely annoying plot hole is how much Stryker's physical appearance changes in these films. He went from a 5foot7 dude, to a 6 foot 3 guy in his 50s, to a pudgy 60s looking dude in the past. Then he became a 6foot 1 looking guy in his 20s with a reference back to his five foot seven frame. Now that's called closely paying attention to details.

Plothole? No. Miscasting? Yes.

I enjoyed DOFP but, I have to agree with you on most of these points. The most frustrating thing about the film is it barely tried to fix any of the continuity issues of the previous films.

No explanation as to how Xavier came back is extremely lazy writing. There are a couple of ways the writing could have explained this but, the people involved were way too lazy or incompetent for this.

Let's not forget Trask going from dwarf (no disrespect to the actor) in the 70s to a 6 foot black dude in the future. Seems like he was quite the shapeshifter himself. Maybe that's why he was so interested in Mystiques blood and the sentinel thing was just a facade.:hehe: But seiously, what the hell did he do to change himself to a black dude in the future? Plastic surgery?

I believe they made up some story about it not being the same Trask character. Whatever the case may be I find it funny that if these so called sentinels existed, where the hell were they in the original timeline when Magneto and his merry army went storming across the country in TLS. They certainly could have used some sentinel power.

In DOFP they explained that Congress killed the sentinel program. They only started it back up because of the threat, I mean Nixon was President.LOL As for the future timeline, after was Jean did to San Francisco, it was most likely started back up again in that time.

Its him alright.

At this point it should be accepted that nothing before DOFP really matters in the end. Fox has always played fast and loose with their own "continuity", they've never really cared about anything more than the movie at hand, so we should know that going forward there are going to be departures from what we have seen previously.

Exactly, there's not enough space on SHH for me to write down all the continuity errors in the X-films, but just to name a quick few two different Emma Frosts, Magneto being an integral part of creating Cerebro and designing his protective helmet, to having Hank and the FBI design it all by themselves and have Eric inherit the helmet by chance.

As Flint says, nothing in the films after X2 matter, because it was all undone magically through time travel. We don't even know if Wolverine ever got his adamantium or not.

Actually I would say there is a good argument X2 probably didn't happen either.

Regarding the original trilogy in general, some things/events may have happened simular to the first trilogy, but anything is up for grabs.

On a related note, I myself would love if they established Emma and Banshee faked their deaths and went into hiding, but it doesn't look likely. Ah well, after Apocolypse I'm done anyway.

Killing a major character like Emma Frost off-screen was a dumb idea.

As much as I enjoyed DoFP, it really did have its share of dumb ideas. For me it's just that it was so enjoyable and they were doing one of my favorite comic storylines and I love the Sentinels and was finally getting them. All the actors did a great job on the respective parts, so simply I ignored certian elements that were nonsensical to me and I admit that. I will get the Rogue cut as soon as it comes out as well, but I still have to say I understand where TeeKay or anyone else is coming from.

Wow guys, did you know that we have an X-Men board RIGHT ON THIS SITE? Amazing.......

The one thing unique to F4F for me is I am a fan of about every actor/actress in this movie and I have no desire to see it. I can't think of a movie before where for me personally that has happened.

This happens more often than you might think. Reboots that don't have fans on their side tend to face this. The planet of the apes one being a recent example.
I recall the first Pirates facing similar. First class got alot of this...
If it's good things change if it's not..

I totally get what you're saying and it's true, it just I never in my own personal experience went through it myself.

I mean of course there are movies I avoided that had one or two actors/actresses that I'm a fan of, but never to the extent of the talent that was presented here.

If it was called anything but a Fantastic Four movie, I would've checked it out just from the acting talent alone.

The new trailer could be Trank ripping up an FF comic book and flipping off the camera and a handful of people would still defend "his vision."

Once again, reminds me of a certain awful, recent Ninja Turtles movie.

Conversely, if the first trailer featured colorful blue costumes, petty fighting between the four, and Dr. Doom looking and acting like Dr. Doom, a lot of us detractors would have easily changed our tune.

Seriously.

I can't speak for anybody else, but I don't make it a habit to hate things just cause.

Most people, I imagine, do not.

Give me something to like and I'll like it.

Maybe if the trailer was anything at all like...but still the response is the same.
This actually reminds me of a certain reaction to a recent and not so recent Xmen movie.

Not exactly sure what you're trying to say here.

But I'll say I haven't seen DoFP and only liked First Class.

Marvel is doing a lot more exciting and fun things than Fox is, so I didn't bother with DoFP.

Pretty much.

Every interview just sounds so uninspired. Zero enthusiasm. They all just showed up to collect their paycheck and add to their resume.

Or depending on how it turns out, quietly scrub from their resume. ;)

I'm saying people said the same things about the first xmen movie(from the costumes to jackman and so forth). Questions if the comics were even read and such. I also said similar detraction was made of First Class during it's entire pre-release(no thanks to the marketing), and oddly enough Fox being the common through line.

As for marvel doing alot more exciting and fun things, that statement only makes sense if you mean to imply the term 'in your opinion'. Which I'm sure you do, but reading that statement as is....

Not everyone finds the same things exciting. For example if you could imagine all the many people that don't find those Thor movies exciting and apply that feeling to the entire approach, and if you could imagine further all the people that found something like DOFP more exciting in it's own way, presto.
Not everyone buys the same comic books, and the mcu is producing one type whereas the other studios are producing another. Not everyone likes the same type of comics.
