I don't think I'm taking it too literally.

I took it to mean I'm not sure how exactly Trank took those inspirations.

The trailer didn't look Croenbergian in body horror. Amblin isn't the word anyone here used when seeing that trailer. Heck, the scene of the two kids and the machine may be Back to the Future inspired as his Amblin influence.


Basically, the trailer didn't do anything except be serious and withhold info.

I'm not sure why people were shocked Sue can fly other than the fact it was the only thing to visually pull from the comics.

I thought it looked pretty "fly-ish " to me in parts honestly. Not in a horror sense though

Didnt johnny just basically brush it off and say "isnt this awesome, we are superheroes, lets play" ? Sounds like johnny storm to me.

Which I think is entirely possible. It doesn't seem like it would fit at all, so if it is still present, it's probably a very minor part of the movie.

Agreed. Batman Returns wasn't not a good movie because it strayed from the essential nature of the characters; it wasn't a good movie because it was a bloated, overlong, tonally inconsistent mess. We should should judge movies based on their own individual merits.

Batan Returns - to this day - is still the best Batman movie ever made

Hyperbole much? Seems... Well seems like a bovine excrement number that was pulled out of thin air and not in the least accurate if you actually see the trailer. If you want to say that there were lots of indoor shots? Okay... even granting that it's still way less that "90%" of the trailer. That just sounds like classic fanboy overstatement based on what you want to believe. Don't believe me. Actually watch the trailer and count how many shots are outside or in a place OTHER than a "hallway". Even being liberal with the use of the word and counting any indoor shot as equal to a "hallway", it still wouldn't add up to 90% of the trailer. You'd think that fans of a character like Reed Richards would attempt to be more accurate in their views of something that can so easily be refuted by rationale analysis. Cest la vie.

I don't think this movie will be any different. It's a talky movie i.e. character driven with CGI environments (negative zone) and characters getting to know their powers.

You won't be seeing things go boom boom in this movie. Even after shooting more action to make the existing set piece longer, I doubt it will still be enough.

Bottom line, the movie has nowhere the amount of big and spectacle heavy action set pieces comic book movies nowadays have. I can guarantee this will be the biggest issue for audience. It can get pretty boring if they have to sit for 1.5 hrs of talky stuff to get to the action.

That's why fox is nervous as hell. But then again rise of the planet of the apes was similar and that turned out fine. Only difference being it was a little over 100 minutes long. Maybe they should edit this down to a fast pace 100 minutes if the movie is too boring.

It is very confined and not expansive or whimsical like most of the newer comic book movies so maybe that's what they meant.
