The Thing does not look good at all in the new TV spot. Seeing him in motion next to the other three really highlights just how small the budget on this thing is in comparison to what it should be. The decision to have him not wear pants is laughable and stupid on so many levels, it makes my head hurt that so many people signed off on it.
You can go back and look through my posts, I was on board with the way the Thing looked in the first few promotional pictures. That sentiment has taken a complete 180.
I don't know what's worse, the way he looks, the awful trash bag containment suits, or Kate Mara's wig.
Oh, and watch this if you want a good laugh:

I'm not even kidding. I'm now certain the reason they won't release anything new is because it all looks terrible. Every single new thing released on this film makes it look worse. Every. Single. Thing.

Captain Bungee and his slinky limbs. Pantsless Thing. Mara's wig that makes Alba in RotSS look realistic. And now PS2 level Thing animations. Smh.

I agree. Sad thing is, I actually have the feeling this is going to be enough of a hit to make Fox feel comfortable with themselves.
I made a point last night about how the FF is a property that should be, in this golden age of superhero movies, raking in 700+ million. And yet here we are with a movie that will be lucky to make half of that.

Yeah it looks pretty good. Come to think of it, just came back from watching Jurassic World at my local theater and saw a pretty big ass Fantastic Four board cutout or whatever they call it.

I don't know what's taking them so long with the final trailer. Asked Gabe again, he said it's out there.

Yeah my local theatre (that i use to work at) has like a 40 foot poster of this movie at the entrance. I keep forgetting to take a pic of it but from what I remember they always had giant posters like that for the upcoming block busters. Kind of weird they didn't have Ant Man.

Yeah and that's all Fox is likely shooting for. Just enough to break even and keep Marvel from doing the franchise justice.

It's a low-risk, low-reward venture. Fox already ran the franchise into the ground several years ago, they know better than to trust themselves with a huge, risky, big budget production (which is why they hired Trank and co.) but they have to do something with these red hot Marvel properties while they have them. It's a shame it's come to this.

There's no doubt in my mind that FFINO will make under 50 million on opening weekend, 100 million or less domestic and no more than 250 million worldwide. This will put it as the worst performing Fox F4 film of all time even without adjusting for inflation, and probably won't even recoup all of their costs for the production after massive reshoots and even the most minimal marketing.

There won't be a FFINO 2: Blogger Boogaloo.:woot:

I would love this to be the case, but sadly I think the Marvel logo in and of itself will get enough people into the theatres and the "3-4 days" (lol) of reshoots will have cobbled the story together enough to make it a decent sized hit.
We'll see though.

Oh wow two seconds of new footage of people walking in a hallway side by side and cg of the Thing on par with the BayTurtles movie.

Riveting.

What I don't understand is why they can't realize the major potential of making a franchise and earning tons of money and not take advantage of this property and treat it with royalty and give it the FF treatment. You would THINK after GOTG, They would see that FF is not silly and useless like they think it is. This movie has been in development for years now, they could have taken advantage of this and made a really awesome movie. Instead they low ball and underestimate it. Shame.

I forgot to tell this story, but my co-workers are all big into comic book movies. There are three of us and we talk about them quite a bit. Two of them are huge X-men fans and said DOFP was their favorite superhero movie. When asked about the FFINO, one of them was barely even aware it was about to come out and the other one started talking about how awful it looked. I got a good laugh.

I agree completely. But it admittedly is a tough property to adapt, it's definitely a product of it's era and is outlandish in almost every single way.
But trying to dress that up (or down, I should say) to be "lo-fi" and "gritty" is the completely wrong approach for this sort of material. It goes to show that they don't take it all that seriously, since there's no indication this will be a faithful representation of what made Marvel's first family so great.

See, we Fantastic Four fans have nothing to worry about. After it's release Trank will have to change his name to Enola Gay after dropping a bomb of this magnitude.

Wow man....I was feeling really low after seeing this trailer. Thanks for the pep talk!

I needed that!

What was Ghost Rider SOV's opening weekend?

Boy that Pos:Neg twitter ratio is dropping like a big poorly designed rock guy out of a plane onto a tank over and over and over and over and over and over again.

The answer to all of that is to hire people who are passionate and love the FF. All it takes is a few creative minds and passion. It just shows Fox obviously doesn't care about this property. Which we all know that, but still it can be done and most likely won't be for some time..

I'm gonna be honest, I was on board since the beginning and through all the plot point leaks(like the doom blogger thing), the design reveals and everything. I was gonna see this regardless. This trailer looks great in my opinion. Besides, Marvels not getting the rights back for the next decade or two at least. So might as well try to enjoy what they're putting out.

(Again, all my opinion)

Yeah, you and I were seeing the Thing Differently in the first few shots. You liked the look while I didn't. I've been starting to get kind of used to the look, but this takes me back. He just looks so bad in so many ways in this latest clip. I know he's naked and d***less, I've seen photos of him naked and d***less, but it still looks stupid. And the movement doesn't look at all natural. For the first time we've seen him for more than a fraction of a second and not hidden in shadow and it doesn't work.

The Thing was the one thing that I hoped to see work and the one thing that might be able to save this, but it doesn't look good.:csad:

H3ll it'll be longer than that if people continue forking over their hard earned cash as incentive to continue making lackluster films.

(But again that's just common sense)

One can pray to Galactus for a small miracle can't he....? After the first 2 he owes us d@mn it!

Oh it'd be nice. Send a clear and concise message to Fox.

But I doubt it.

I'm ballparking(after overestimating with 80 mill a while ago) now around 40-50 mill OW.

I think that's fairly realistic.
