And they all turned out okay, great even. There's tons of movies with troublesome productions that turned out great.

Marvel sold them & Fox paid for them so they are home.

Selling and leasing are two different things my friend. You damn well know where home is. If Fox owned the FF, they wouldn't be trying to make a film every few years before the rights revert would they? Oh yeah that's rights, they don't OWN them.:whatever:

Technically Marvel is still their "home", though, even on film. Fox has a license. The ultimate rights holder is Marvel.

Yep. If Fox owned the FF, they wouldn't have to release a movie every x number of years. I don't know how people so quickly forget about Daredevil and all the other characters that have reverted back to Marvel.

I don't even know why anyone thinks that Fox will even allow this to revert or work with Marvel in any capacity if this flops.

They'll just sit on it for another seven years and remake it again. Or they'll stick them in an X-Men film as supporting characters, such as New Mutants.

From all accounts, Fox and Marvel's relationship is in a TERRIBLE state.

CWR sure knows how to get folks worked up. :funny:

Mr. Lee, what would you like to see in a Fantastic Four movie?

Reed and Ben being in their mid 30's. Reed is a genius who loses himself in his experiments.

Ben is an ex fighter pilot and football star who is a big bruiser of a guy.

Sue and Johnny are biological brother and sister. She is in her mid 20's and is the heart that holds everyone together as a family.

Johnny is a hot headed cocksure full of himself showoff teenager.

Doom is an egotistical megliomaniac dictator of the European country Latveria. He hates Reed because he blames him for an accident that happened to him in their college days. After that accident he went home to his mother country and brooded and created lots of destructive things because he would like to become dictator of the world. He in no way what so ever accompanies the 4 when they get their powers.

The 4 go into space and are transformed by cosmic rays.

Reed is completely torn up by the fact that his experiment has changed everyone....especially for Ben's change, because Ben now considers himself a monster that will be shunned by humanity. Reed swears he will do everything in is power to change him back.

Ben will initially wear clothes(especially hats and overcoats) to hide his body from people, but will eventually go out in just the shorts because the coats and stuff just get in the way.

Doom is jealous that the man he hates is getting notoriety...so tries to destroy him. Being a genius himself with a whole country at his beck and call and years of building crazy weapons makes it rough on the 4.

Reed's experiments with Space and inter dimentional travel takes us to places with fantastic visuals and dangers.

Lol. This ain't Apocalypse Now, Josh Trank is not Matthew Vaughn, there is no comparison.

if it's a big enough hit... FOX may let it go.. sure it will be at a price.. but their might actually be hope. also the CEO's may even come in and say "look we have tried and failed.. there's not way we are making money off of this.." it might be a bit till rights revert... or best case scenerio.. they work with marvel in exchange X-men tv rights for F4 movie rights.. which is entirely possible and id wager the most probably outcome.

And yet Daredevil reverted...

And you OWNED him. XD

only because they had to.. it was "give up DD" or "give up galactus and Silver Surfer for more time to use DD".

True but it happened. And if Fox continues to burn production budgets making Fantastic Flops just to play "keep away" with the rights then I can't imagine their investors can be all that happy about that strategy. But who knows - they may reboot again in 7 years. That will most likely make FIVE failed attempts at the Fantastic Four counting Roger Corman. Sounds like fun.

Fox has made it clear they're going to hold onto these rights regardless of whether or not they can make a successful franchise off it, Marvel and fans be damned. At some point you think they'd sober up and realize they don't have what it takes.

Marvel actually offered Fox an extension on Daredevil for Surfer and Galactus, maybe they were in original Infinity War plans before everything meshed out.

Disagree, X-Universe has so many characters and X-Men comics/spinoffs and cartoons dominated much of the 90s, sometimes they had 8 or 9 of the top 10 titles in monthly sales. Not many people I knew liked FF that much, but I might just be the wrong generation for it. However back then you wouldn't have imagine Avengers was a comparable, if not more popular IP

and hence I said the right setting. The entire Marvel Universe is a spin-off of the Fantastic Four.

The F4 that are allowed to explore the complete Marvel cosmic, Atlantis, Subterranean Earth, The Negative Zone, Wakanda, Attilan, etc. is where they thrive.

The IP is the fiber that interconnects more IPs in the Marvel Universe than any other.

The X-Men had their fad in the 90s when it was style over substance.

If Jim Lee had been drawing Avengers instead, the popularity of the X-Men wouldn't be what it was is.

I enjoy mutants in the Marvel universe, I like that the important X-Men are finally getting solo titles.

I think the Marvel decree of limiting mutant character creation is a good thing for the existing characters development.

The Fantastic Four phased out during the 90s/00s but now suffer from this movie deal more than being a worthless IP, IMO.

FOX does have a death_grip but i don't think it's as tight as people make it ... they just want something for it... Money talks.. and their bar is set to high.. but when this film fails.. the property will be considered of "less worth" thus marvel would have a bigger bargaining chip...

as i said before there's a probably chance, if FOX REALLLLLLLY wants X-men TV rights... they may be willing to trade F4 for it.. and it's actually probably the best deal for both parties... Marvel gets the F4 library to use (while they're doing nothing with the X-tv rights... and FOX can expand their X-universe

Fantastic four don't belong wit the X-men anyway

That looks....just horrible. What were they thinking? He doesn't look threatening at all.

Imo threat doesn't come strictly from look but character.

With certain characters like Darth Maul the look can do it but for the most part it's the dialogue, performance and actions that's conveys threat, not what they look like.
Hannibal Lecter doesn't look threatening but he is extremely due to his character and performance.

If Kebbell gives a strong performance and makes Doom a threat then he'll be a threat.

Seriously, what is wrong with Fox?

Why can't they do Marvel's greatest villain justice? Is it really that hard?

I've said before in the past that at this point they are clearly making a conscious decision to not give us the Doom we all know. The question is why?

I remember reading somewhere that the powers that be at Fox find Doom to be outdated, corny and silly. I forget if it was Shuler Donner or some other big wig involved with the previous films.

Off-topic, but does anyone else think a Doom solo could work?

The Doom that recently restructured reality in the comics is outdated?

Indeed.

This will be a good test to see if the fanboy community can turn GA away from a movie.

Spidey is Marvels king though. A better comparison is Ghost Rider which had two poorly recieved movies in a row and hasn't been retried by Marvel

FF is reminding me of 2006. Superman Returns and X-Men:The Last Stand. Leaks of the plot, the trailers and even I held on for hope that'd it be good. I walked out of the theater disappointed twice. I'd honestly be surprised if this movie just comes out of nowhere and is some sort of critical hit after all the rumors.

Shuler Donner ive never heard comment on the F4... but hopefully Doctor Strange changes all that.. i want my armor-clad sorcerer doom

it's alot like X3 for sure... even the night i saw the film.. all the disappointments were there, but I kept ignoring them because i finally really got to see the X-men fight, and fight as a team... everything in X1 and X2 was like tiny calculations or chess moves in the way they fought.. but X3 had all out brawls.. and that excited me...

but as that excitement wore off.. the film became crap, crap double crap...
