Fant4stic: Reborn! - - - - - Part 39

Fox did Marvel a favor by making this look so unlike FF. It will be very easy for Marvel to differentiate themselves from this film if they choose to do so.

And they'd probably start by building enthusiasm with people like us. I can almost guarantee that if Marvel shows up to next year's Comic-Con with a a big :ff: logo and 2020 date, nobody will be saying: "Again?! Another FF movie?!" with disappointment or disdain. They'll be thrilled.

Fans will be excited and it will build from there.

Most people don't have a clue who the Inhumans are, but once they start seeing trailers, they'll get interested. And I don't know why people would be less willing to see a well-done FF film with a trailer that shows some really cool things than they would be to see something like Inhumans that they've never heard of before.

The guy who famously said "It's not a disaster" in regards to FFINO is getting kudos for his in-continuity CGI prequel series "Star Wars:Rebels". Which got me to thinking - wouldn't that be a great way to introduce the FF into the MCU?

A CGI series - perhaps on Netflix to distinguish it from the out-of-continuity (and mediocre) Marvel animated shows on Disney XD. Set in the 1960s and in-continuity with the MCU. Start a three year run in 2018, and in the finale show the event that transports the FF to the MCU present.

The 1960s are untapped ground for the MCU, so the FF can be established as the only superheroes in town before moving onward to live action. Cast the actors you want to star in the live action movie as voice actors on the show and you can have a fairly seamless transition between the two. Build up demand for the 2020 feature by putting top talent to work - see if Peyton Reed will supervise the show and subsequent film.

It's a bit of an outside the box idea, but I think it could bring the FF back to the A list status they so clearly deserve.

Someone a few pages back mentioned an idea of having the team lost in space for years before returning to Earth. This actually sounds like a great option. Have the characters disappear in the sixties and take part in space adventures where they master their powers before returning home in modern times. Too bad MS won't be able to use them for Infinity War because that would have been an interesting segway into the MCU.

I wonder if they will let the rights revert back to Marvel. I'm sure that the success of Daredevil has to bother the people at Fox a little bit. Fox obviously thought very little of Daredevil, and that's why they let the rights slip, but Marvel was able to turn it into a very successful TV show. It would make Fox look bad if Marvel showed them up again. So they might try to redo the FF every seven years until they either get it right or the superhero movie fad ends.

I really wouldn't say they "let" the rights slip.. everything fell apart in the 11th hour for them... I guess the director backed out... and then Marvel said "Hey, we will extend your DD window, if you give us galactus and silver surfer", fox said no, and the rights reverted.

2 years later, Daredevil is one of the flag titles of Netflix, and FF is looking like the biggest disaster since Catwoman.

Way to go, Fox

This wouldn't really work unless...

They pulled something like this.

Anyway, I'm waiting to see this for myself this weekend. Then I'll decide if it deserves a second chance.

Man, this sucks. I really was looking forward to this movie. Prior to the first trailer when we had nothing but rumors of troubled production I was right with you guys and thought this production was a complete sham. The fact that there were never any announcements from FOX, the director of the movie going completely dark, the fact that the FREAKING CAST WAS NEVER OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED, the fact that the few little bits of information we heard about the film all came from second hand sources signaled that something was horribly wrong with this production.

But when the first trailer came out I was shocked and pleasantly surprised that it looked like a competently made, entertaining film. Since then I've been rooting for it but this is just...heartbreaking, man. I don't think we'll ever see Trank's name next to a big budget studio film again.

Even introducing them in Guardians 2 & they return to Earth with Starlord would be good

I feel like one area where Marvel Studios succeeds and FOX fails is when it comes to changing the source material. Marvel Studios knows when it's okay to tweak certain things, and how far they can go without losing what makes the property great.

FOX isn't afraid to change things, but they change the wrong things. They think, all we need is to do is get close enough to the material but have the attitude of, "We're gonna put our own spin on this thing! We're gonna make it ours!"

And I feel like it's more important to tell a good story (from which they have over 50 years of stories to draw inspiration), and to treat the source material with respect than it is to put an original spin on a story and a group of characters that the whole world knows and loves.

yeah... marvel doesn't really seem to change things unless it ADDS to the story.. fleshes something out more, or frankly just needs updated for a modern audience... FOX doesn't seem to know when and when not to do that... some changes are great, others are bizarre and serve no purpose and cause more of a distraction then anything.

Right.....GotG find Reed, Sue, Ben, and Johnny out on a spaceship....Starlord looks at them and says - Hey, aren't you those guys that went missing when I was still on Earth?

That is the End Credits scene right there & gives Starlord a reason to go home as well

After all the dishonesty, Fox is apparently trying a different approach.

I don't even think the four would be MCU's first concern. I think the Surfer would definitely have some sort of appearance in GotG2.

"Gouge out your eyes August 7th" LMAO

& the Silver Surfer could follow the GOTG & F4 to Earth while looking for new worlds for his boss to eat

Three bids & one stone in one simple end credits scene

Think of all the back story stuff that that could be added by having Reed lost in space for 60 years. Infinity Gauntlet. Ultimate Nullifier. Quasar. Watcher. He'd come back with an understanding of the cosmos that none of the MCU characters have. And it gets rid of another movie that deals with an earthbound alien threat. Those are the types of changes to the source material MS does well because it augments the big picture. Oh well

The only way to fix this mess is to retcon F4INO by saying it took place before X-Men: Days of Future Past. :oldrazz:

& since Infinity War is the end of Phase 3. We next see these guys at the end of the Infinity War two parter ending Phase 3 with the GOTG, F4 & Silver Surfer (hidden in background) approaching Earth / arriving etc

Hell...the Corman movie a masterpiece compared to this....he at least got the basics right.

Isn't it ironic that the Corman film is the best FF film we've ever gotten? Whereas The Incredibles is the best FF film we've never gotten.
