Fant4stic: Reborn! - - - - - - - Part 41

Unless it were Trank directing/ Kinberg writing it. Then escort Sue would be left behind while Reed, Ben, Johnny and Domashev have a boys' night out on Planet Zero. :o
Given the subject matter I was thinking everything after Domashev would go very differently. :o

Are there any folks left around here saying......
the movie was good
the movie was ok, but deserves a 2nd chance
the movie was great before Fox interferred....??

A few of us said that, about the diehards, a few weeks ago as a sort of joke, but on a couple other sites a few really are saying " it was good enough to deserve a sequel"
.....which I guess means any piece of garbage flop, critically panned movie DESERVES a sequel.
The mind boggles.
These actors no more want to reprise these roles than they want to star in Ishtar 2.

I think the boosters have fallen back on "Neener neener, Fox will keep the rights anyway". And also fallen back to the X-boards.

I couldn't give a rat's arse about what studio makes what movie as long as they can do a really good job of it. Fox has given me reason to believe they can't or won't make a good FF movie so I want them back in the Marvel fold. Fox, Disney, Universal, etc.....just give me a good movie.

I just did an entirely unscientific study....I looked at the movie ads in today's paper....I live in a small town in Kentucky, I live outside the second largest city, Lexington, and that's where I go to see movies.

There are approximately 60 screens in town....just a few weeks after it's release....FANTASTIC FOUR is only on ONE screen. Several other movies released around the same time are still on multiple screens (MI5 is on 4 screens, Man From UNCLE on 4, ANTMAN on 2, Jurassic World on 2).

I was inspired by your post to check my local movies to see what's screening. There are two theaters in my area, and out of both of them, there is also one FF screening at one theater. This is truly the last gasp of a dead franchise.
To make my heart swell even higher, Avengers 2 is playing in the IMAX theater today as a "reissue". Guess I know how I'm spending my evening.

There is this notation at one of theaters in Lexington - Now playing in our CINEMARK XD AUDITORIUM - AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON IN REALD 3-D

Agreed, it's why I support all CBMs at least until the reviews come out. Didn't end up seeing this based on them

I only go to the theater to see films I think I'll like. I haven't felt an obligation to support entertainment since I went from comic collector to reader.

Really? Wow. Upon checking, similar situation here in the Twin Cities area.

It's down to one theater in my area now, with only two showings.

Avengers:Age of Ultron and Ant-man would be a fun double feature right now. It's August and kinda slow anyways.

Doesn't matter how many screens its on FOX has already given up on this turd just like the audiences. They got what they wanted and thats to keep the rights to a worthless property to them.

I bet discussions are underway as we speak between them and Marvel. We will here some more lip service about how FOX will focus more on its comic book properties to save face and then here some rumors and news coming in the months towards the end of year start of new year hopefully. Thats what I believe.

I hope that you're right. The last thing that Fox should do is produce more films for properties which are going to expire in the near future. They should focus more on the X-Men, AvP and PotA which are all established franchises which aren't going to expire within the next two years so Fox can have more quality control.

Regardless, I will not be watching an FF sequel produced by Fox. At all. Period.

I had a blast a couple weeks ago logging onto the website of a local theater that has reserved seating ---about 10 minutes before showtime and seeing exactly where and how many seats were sold. Lol.
7:45 pm weeknight showings that were practically empty just before showtime!
Watching it play out in real time was fun.

Yeah. A few of us did that. I was seeing some unbelievably low numbers.

Hail Fandango!!

I wonder if this thing had succeeded, how would the sequel have gone. Would they have seen it as validation to double down on the dark tone? Or would they have gone the Amazing Spider-man 2 route and gone a 180 in tone?

That's definitely hard to say. In this alternate reality, is the final released movie still the same, or does it have more of those action scenes we've heard about that were tossed out? Does Josh Trank still go on a Twitter tantrum about all the studio interference?

I feel like even people who liked this movie don't want to see a sequel very much. Am I wrong about that?

I'm certain that unless it was massively successful they would have realized that they better make it somewhat closer to the comic.
I also think that, again, if not a massive success they would have FINALLY found writers and director that were passionate about bringing the comic to life.
That's why I'm so glad it bombed as it did.
They simply don't deserve another chance.
In what endeavor do you start something in 2003 and declare in 2017--"I did it!"
Unless it's a freakin Mars mission you don't deserve that much g** d**n time!

I meant the movie as it was released. I'm willing to bet it if it had a huge opening weekend but the same drops per weekend, they probably would have still moved forward with a sequel.

Sometimes wondering "if" doesn't help much if there is a 0% chance of "it" happening. Guess they would have followed trend. Probably should have tried making a good movie that somewhat followed the comic.

Prolly woulda had worse drops. Like even more embarrassingly worse drops.

Yeah, and I've said before that I kind of wanted this movie to fail even if it was good. So I probably wouldn't be sitting here rooting for a sequel either way.

It would be stupid to keep many showings for a movie absolutely nobody wants to see at this point.

Don't kid yourself. The studio and the cinemas will drag it out as long as possible.

In my local cinema, Ant-Man finished two weeks ago and F4 still has virtually the same number of screenings per day.

They are making the film an option to casual visitors who just go there wanting to see something. People don't care how many of them are in the screening, many people prefer it as quiet as possible so they can have a great choice of seats and so as there is less disturbance and noise from phones, munching, chomping, slurping, giggling, coughing, talking and the usual idiotic behaviour of The Average Moviegoer.

I went to see Mission Impossible for the first time last night. Great movie, but there were only three of us in the auditorium at a peaktime Saturday night screening.

Don't kid yourself, your story's not very representative of the current trend. Fantastic Four is showing on less screens than Ant-Man nationwide. We have the numbers.

But I'm not in the US. So your 'nationwide' means nothing to me.

Oh and I was in the UK's second-largest city today. Their city centre cinema is showing Ant-Man and F4 once a day.

I'm just saying... the cinemas are the cinemas. It will finish when it finishes.
