FANTASTIC 4 Promotion Train...

I think the promotion of the F4 Sequel has been....

  • "Spot On" nothing short of Fantastic...

  • "Good", so far so good...

  • "OK", the train needs to speed up...

  • "Below Average", the train is headed for derailment...

  • "Pure Suckage", the train has derailed and there is no hope...

Soooooooooo you think the promotion of the movie thus far is "FANTASTIC"...

You think the promotion thus far, is major "suckage".....

Or you are somewhere in between....

Take a stand in the poll, and discuss what "you" think the suits in the promotion department at Fox need to do in the next 75+ days to get the public ready for the movie.

So far you can take a look in the "Video Archive Thread" at past interviews, trailers and TV spots and "The Publicity Thread" for other articles.

Enjoy the ride!:woot:

If you vote, please give us the enjoyment of reading your reasons.....thanks!

ALSO, please remember, this is not a poll about your OPINION OF THE MOVIE ITSELF, ie actors, plot, director....this is about WHAT WE HAVE SEEN of the promotion, not about things WE HAVE NOT SEEN....

I want to see it. There's nothing in the promotion so far that has made me think maybe I'll wait for the DVD.

That is you as a fan of the comic, that would probably see the movie simply for that reason.......I really don't see you waiting for the DVD, Willie Boy!..........no matter how bad the promotion is.....

Soooooooooooooo how do you think the promotion so far is impacting the average moviegoer.....

On the whole I have been really happy with the promotion so far. As I keep saying over and over, there is so much footage they have to play with because they have barely shown us anything yet. We still haven't seen Doom, and I am hearing that we won't until the SM3 trailer hits. Practically nothing of the Fantasticar, or the Four using their powers (except Johnny). When the trailer with SM3 hits, it could be all new footage because of the little amount that they have shown us, which is always a bonus because it gives people something visually new to feast on without the constantly rehashed footage (which Spider-Man has had, I am sick of seeing some of the shots in the trailers because they are just in every single one of them!).

They have put out what they need to put out up until this point. Very soon they will start the ball rolling and then there won't be many people who don't know about FF2. If they are good at anything at Fox, it is promotion, and there aren't many people that will dispute that. Sure we may hate how much they show us, but it gets people into the theaters.

They have told the world that the movie is coming, and very soon they are going to show them that they have to be there to see it. There may not be a huge amount of buzz currently, but I have a feeling it's going to change soon.

Edit: AND the trailer was really a fairly new concept in the way it showed a scene, that seemed to really grab the audience and pull them straight into the action. I loved that move on Fox's part.

I would say most people don't know about it . . . yet.

But I don't think that's necessary. How much planning do you need to see a movie?

My feeling is: "Tell me about it a week before it opens so I know what I'm doing next weekend." when it comes to movie marketing.

I can definitely agree with that.....

Last time around when people are literally dieing because there was not a TV spot with the Super Bowl......I could not understand why they would want Fox to spend that kind of money 5 months before the movie was to come out.......it was beyond my comprehension why people were SOOOOOOOOO upset. I think Fox is doing the right thing.....

The ONLY reason why I did not say FANTASTIC, is because of the one-sheet........I think the words Fantastic Four should have been somewhere on the one-sheet, and standee......other than those 2 things, I think they are doing a great job.

Overall it's been good so far with the teaser trailer and SS poster being the positive highlights in the campaign.People -even those who disliked the first movie-really seem to be saying 'this looks cool' , 'might not suck as much FF1' or 'wow they're doing Silver Surfer i've gotta see this!'.

The full trailer got pushed back until May and i remember being a little angry about that. But now seeing how the mega budgeted Spider-Man 3 and Pirates 3 marketing campaigns have gone into overdrive i think it's been a good move by Fox to wait. It would have been lost in all the hype for those movies plus the vfx will be far better then than it would have been if it was released now.

What i hope for next is; some really good posters of the 4 together[/B ,that Fox releases the movie world wide simultaneously (wishfull thinking) ,that they don't spoil the entire movie in the trailers (more wishfull thinking) and a annoucement that this movie will have running time of 2 hour+ (even more wishfull thinking:oldrazz: ).

I voted So far so good. The trailer and commercials, have looked sharp. They have been placed iN spots with shows that have a very high rating. However, it is getting to the time within the next 2 weeks, to speed it up a bit. It has been fine to this point. :word: About 4 weeks before SM 3, they need to crank it up, to peek the publics curisioty, then when they go to see SM 3, the'll be looking for it, then they get knocked out of their seats.

Couldn't have said it better.

It's been savvy so far, but they do need to start stepping it up a bit now. SM3's stuff is starting to go nuclear and if they don't start pushing it more, it will get lost on people's radars in all the hype.

If this is truly meant to be a "summer tentpole" blockbuster, they need to start treating it as such with the media.

I think at this point we should have seen a full two-minute trailer, I mean, june isn´t that far.

I think at this point we should have seen a full two-minute trailer, I mean, june isn´t that far.

Would you want another 2 minute trailer with Spiderman 3....with different footage?

To me having too many trailers out tends to give away too much in the movie......and too much of the same tends to get old...as I've heard many Spidey fans say about what they've seen so far....

To me waiting until Spiderman 3 putting out a trailer with all new footage, would take care of those 2 problems, it would put it with a movie for the reasons I stated before, (don't want to get repetitive)....

To me people remember most, what they LAST see.....

I DO THINK, that some TV spots showing the 4 doing their superhero thing would be good, much like before 1 for each character....but I don't necessarily need a 2 minute trailer now, just to have another with Spiderman 3.....I'd rather them wait until Spiderman 3, which it looks like they are....I agree with that decision.

It's just now approaching April and everything is going the way that it should be, IMO.

The official site not working. Nothing new pics. And only two months at the release date. I vote option 4.

I think its okay. I think its good that FOX is waiting to show the trailer with SM3 and perhaps even POTC3. Its also good how they have so many posters and billboards, Ive seen a banner of SS at my movie theater and the interviews and access hollywood-esque behind the scenes footages. But as stated above the official site should be working by now, I wish they had a few more new pictures also but Im happy they have a lot of magazine articles. The only thing Id do differently is release another TV spot maybe even two while everyone waits patiently for the trailer. Id do this since the first TV spot got a lot of positive buzz but other than that its fine. So I vote good so far

BTW anyone see these

I agree that the official site should be up and running at full swing....but of the movie going audience, what percentage do you think actuall go and look at the site. I would say maybe 10%, and that is probably the comic fans, not the everyday moviegoer.

BUT, yes the site should be up and running.

BTW, last time I checked the site was up and running and they had added the TV spot.

the TV spot has been up since it aired, and that was what a month ago ? i agree mostly it's the hardcore fan who goes to those sites. The general public does not that much. The official site is more for the fan, then a promotinal site.

I'd expect some late bombardment of promotion a la X3...May is stuffed with big movies, so they won't do a whole lot in the first couple of weeks of May...

They'll focus on getting most of their promotion out during the first 2 weeks of June right before release,...

And IMO, that is where the bulk of the promotion should be....

Is that the only reason why you voted option 4???????

I agreed too. April just started and I'm sure there be more promotions of F4: Rise of the Silver Surfer soon.

Edit:
There's been alot of neat new stuffs we seen last month. So no worries.

I think they're doing a good job.My only wish is for more footage.
