Fant4stic Fantastic Four Box Office Prediction Thread - Part 5

Note also that when other sites were reporting Deadpool would take FF's place, McWeeny was reporting the FF sequel would happen. Now that the studio is confirming they will replace FF with Deadpool (for obvious reasons), he's still not admitting that thing quacking and waddling in the corner is a duck and is so unprofessional he's willing to parrot Fox's spin.

Maybe it's a chicken that played a duck in a Fox movie because this Weeny wrote the following:

Neither the disaster the fanboy nation seems to be itching to attack nor a significant improvement over the Tim Story movies........

The only person who has mentioned a sequel is McWeeny. I would infer from that that he is the only person foolish and irresponsible enough to repeat obvious and unquestionable studio spin (while the film is still, technically, in theaters . . . empty though they may be) as fact.

There's no way in hell a sequel is happening.

. . . though I have to admit a small part of me is morbidly curious and would like to see the online spectacle that would result.:woot:

Not me.....I don't want to see another 2 years on this forum like we have had....don't want to see that at all.

Yep, it is down to 2 and 4 showings at the area theaters here in Houston....not sure why...

I guess people just do not recognize a top-tier addition to superhero movies that updates the First Family and expands and enhances the genre by taking a mature and bold direction while presenting them also in a whole new light.

:sly:

20th place! $84 per screen!

I guess they're gonna milk till it turns a profit.

Yup. It's gonna take a major league beating this weekend. I figured it would be out of the top 20 this weekend, but it managed to beat my prediction. Next up on the left (thanks to Drew for that one) are the BO powerhouses Pixels and Shaun the Sheep.

Ummmm......let's put our heads together and figure this out.

A) It's an under appreciated work of creative genius that is ahead of it's time

or

B) No one is buying tickets and the only people in the theater are renting it by the hour.....cheaply.

I'm gonna go with...........

It's gone from the two closest theaters from me, a Cinemark and a Goodrich (IMAX). Only chain left with any showings are AMCs. Ant-Man showings for the weekend outnumber FF 2-1.

FF is down to 1,135 theaters this weekend, a 32.2% drop.

Predictions this weekend?? Will it beat out Shaun the Sheep and the box office magnet Pixels?? :oldrazz:

Geeze, it got passed by Southpaw which was released 2 weeks earlier than FF. It doesn't get any weirder than that (unless Shaun goes by on the left).

I kept telling you they were gonna milk it, and you kept being really silly and attacking me over it, as though I was somehow defending the film.

I repeat: They will leave it in cinemas as long as they can.

It's now gone from my nearest cinema, because of the new releases this week, but is still playing once a day at my next nearest cinema (where Ant-Man finished this week).

It's yet to open in Italy and Japan, and yet to come out on DVD/Blu-ray, so you won't hear any other news (if indeed there is any other big news to come) until after all that and the final numbers are in.

Fox will stay publicly committed to the franchise until then, because the film is still out there in some form and they have to show support for their own product.

Here in Italy there are only negative comments on FFINO Facebook page, and you have to like the page to comment. They constantly cancel comments. XD

I don't think Fox has much to say about it at this point. The theater owners are the ones making the call (at least that's what makes sense to me; though I'd gladly learn otherwise). I think that Krystal was being "somewhat" sarcastic when saying they were going to milk it until they made a profit (which could happen if it ran until 4012....and they rent the theater by the hour).

And, yes, while it's out, Fox will stay "publicly" committed to it. Once it's run is over (which will be pretty soon), the real fun begins.

What's your take on how it will do at the box office? Any predictions?

Well no one I know will go see it in theaters, they already think it's a waste of money and time, the early reviews are terrible and the comments on the web are negative to outright offensive,so it doesn't bode well fortunately!

You do understand sarcasm don't you? Krystal was was being facetious.

The film is dead, no one wants to see it, and it's not turning a profit.

Yep, even when it will be released in Italy and Japan still, I doubt it will make much of an impact at the box office. So (hopefully) worldwide total will come under $160m?

I get sarcasm....... :o

I wonder how low the per screen take has to go before the electricity of running the movie is higher than the couple of tickets sold?

On the other hand if the movie has zero patrons on a given showing they can have the staff give the auditorium good cleaning for when they get an actual movie in space.

Only reason it's still in as many theaters as it is, is that there is absolutely nothing else coming out. We're still in the dumping ground part of the year. It's so bad they're bringing back Jurassic Would and Inside Out to a boatload of theaters to give people something to watch. Flipping Southpaw even got a big boost. It's death at the theater this weekend.

Yeah. Southpaw blasted past FF.....geeze....

And on the outside driving hard is.....Shaun the Sheep!

Yeah, I know. Man, the new releases have just been DISMAL. I haven't been to the movies since Rogue Nation.

Well, it's the dump months (late August - September). Not much we can do about it. Every new wide release is generally without exception a turd. Of course there are a handful of "fresh" releases, but they are of the niche/limited release variety (e.g. Dope and Creep opening this weekend).

For the record. 114,743 for Thursday.

If someone had actually placed a movie properly around now (MI:RN/SOC didn't do a bad job), they could kill during this drought. I'll definitely go see Maze Runner, but man, this $#!t looks, walks, and smells like $#!t. Quack, quack, quack.......
