FF 2 Rate and Review Thread

I stand corrected !

I actually thought galactus was probably the best bit of the film, I enjoyed this version, but the ending....sheesh, did they run out of time or what?

And it was great! story, characters etc. Galactus was a pretty cool cloud and it's nice seeing his head shadow on Saturn. Doom was awesome on the Silver's board and his defeat makes me hype for a possible return.

Overall, the film was just great!

I'm going to see it in about 4 hours. Any advice? Should I lower my expectations?
Considering I liked the first one. It wasn't great of course, but it wasn't Ghost Rider either (like the worst thing Marvel did so far).
I read a lot of mixed reviews, but everyone seem to agree on that is better than the first one and the special effects are great.

D!

if you liked the first film you will like this film mabey more so

its a good film/ not great but it keeps you intrested and their is more action which is what i always love!

I'm wondering if they should just ditch Doom in the next film. They could go either way but he seems to be the common weak link in each film. He was definately cool on the surfboard though. Loved that scene with Johnny pummeling him.

If they do make a third film (I really hope they do), Doom should be included. I would like to see him one more time...trying to match wits with Reed (and joining forces with Maximus if they do an Inhumans storyline).

I wonder how he liked it.

When I go see a movie, I look for entertainment. If it happens to really get more feelings out of me, then that's a plus. 'Fantastic Four' just entertained me, nothing else, nothing more.

OK, I just came back from watching Rise Of The Silver Surfer, and it's a very good movie. FAR more superior than the first movie, this one didn't quite reach a 'moment' until the SS is captured. From then on, the movie is great. Dr Doom chasing the fantastic cars was, well, fantastic; and the characters were all handled very very well. They actually EVOLVE as characters, Mr Fantastic gets the 'leader' tag in here, and his relationship with Johnny becomes more 'friendly'. Too much Jessica Alba for me (she's hot though, but I'd rather have her as posters in my bedroom), and The Thing got too much screen time the last time, so it was a good balance in this one, his scenes with Johnny were all good too.

The good: The Silver Surfer was great! :cwink:; the plot takes place in many corners of the earth; I actually enjoyed the comedy (some bits), the special effects, The Thing; the switching powers arc. Dr Doom: It helped a lot during the final scenes of the movie, and his 'look' is definetely better than the previous film. But i'd preferred a change of mask. Still, I'll keep him in the 'good' section; the Fantastic Car, and how they kept them in 'secret' until the end :o

The bad: Action scenes were great, but too short. I don't know what's going on lately, Spider-Man 3 had the same thing; Galactus 'the cloud'... well.. it didn't bother me. Although a face behind all that smoke wouldn't have harmed anybody.

Overall, I give it a 7.5/10. Above average. :woot:

Ah sorry, why is the poll closed already?

I watched it a couple of days ago and I thought overall it was great. Big improvement on the first one although I actually liked the first one. It just felt a little rushed towards the end. Apart from that I really enjoyed it.

I thought the movie was rather poor.

I mean, cmon wtf, the film introduces the Silver Surfer, but we don't even see Galactus himself! Or a ship for that matter:cmad:. Instead we get a big, blurry, cloud of space dust.

Doom not wearing his armour until the very end of the film which was cheese, it seemed to me like his entire appearance was somewhat wasted.

And honestly, Johnny Storm turning into Super Skrull at the end seemed odd. I realize how it happened, b/c he could absorb their powers, but it still seemed silly.

I enjoyed FF2....but thats largly due to Silver Surfers presence. I thought he saved the film at times....everytime he was on screen, I picked up my concentration and excitment. I thought he was excellent- HERES TO A SILVER SURFER FILM!!!...A SERIOUS FILM!

So has FF been doing good at the box office or not? I know it made 9 million last week but I want to know its full total right now, compared to it budget.

Total right now (domestically): $114.8 million

Budget: $130 million

Still a little ways to climb. Worldwide it's $173.9 million.

Its not doing to bad. But I don't see that 3rd happening. Neither do I see that SS happening either.

FINALLY saw this just then, better than the first in some ways, around the same level in others.

ONCE again the action scenes were FAR to short, but also much improved at the same time, at least there was some tension this time. And obviously, the highlight of the movie was the Silver Surfer, he was just awesome to look at and watch, and as someone else mentioned, my interest piqued everytime he was on screen.

I also thought Reed was big improvement in this one, as was IG's performance, i thought he really stepped it up this time, and once again, like in the first movie, i think the people criticising the performance of Jessica Alba are just being FAR too harsh.

And again Johnny and Ben's interactions and banter was great, again both of them were good in the their respective parts.

BUT, like with the first movie and X3 (and pretty much most Fox CB movies) it was just FAR too short and unmemorable. The Surfer had about 6 lines in the whole movie and the final fight was just over in a flash. Doom, amplified with the Power Cosmic, versus Johnny, armed with the combined power of the FF, and its over in 2 minute's? Also, the Surfer being able to seemingly destroy Galactus when he only has a fraction of his power? I think we all know how ridiculous this part was. Please Fox, just give the rights back to Marvel, from what i can see, they are the only factor holding this franchise back from being great and lasting.

Add another 30 mins onto this movie, and this would have been a challenger to Marvel's best, as it is and as i have rated it, its just average.
