FF 2 Rate and Review Thread

FF2: 7.5/10 :up::up:
It was way better than the first. Less cheesy lines too. Better story, more action and better acting.

Oh ya, another cheese point in the movie to add on to my list...

BUT, like with the first movie and X3 (and pretty much most Fox CB movies) it was just FAR too short and unmemorable. The Surfer had about 6 lines in the whole movie and the final fight was just over in a flash. Doom, amplified with the Power Cosmic, versus Johnny, armed with the combined power of the FF, and its over in 2 minute's? Also, the Surfer being able to seemingly destroy Galactus when he only has a fraction of his power? I think we all know how ridiculous this part was. Please Fox, just give the rights back to Marvel, from what i can see, they are the only factor holding this franchise back from being great and lasting.

Add another 30 mins onto this movie, and this would have been a challenger to Marvel's best, as it is and as i have rated it, its just average.

I want to add on to that if I may...

It should've been Galactus pwning Doom, not the FF. Would have made more sense since Doom just stole power that Galactus never intended to go to him.

So I just saw Transformers tonight and apparently this is the summer of heroes who say "My bad!" in cheesy comedy moments, because now we have Optimus frickin' Prime doing it. It's the competition of the "My Bads" - who had it worse, Thing or Optimus? :oldrazz:

That would've really been disappointing. Galactus defeating Doom? Thank god that didn't happen.

I dont think that would have been necessary, just a longer fight and a bit of a struggle would have been much more appropriate IMO. There hundreds of places this fight could have gone, but it went the shortest one.

Galactus owning the Surfer would have been much better, and end the movie there to set up a 3rd.

Maybe Galactus just draining Doom's power would have a cool scene to see.

I think it would have played much better to have Doom at least be aware of what was going on with the impending destruction of the entire planet because he has no real plan other than chasing the FF and blowing up things. They could have maybe had him challenge Galactus as you say and then get slapped down for his effrontery.

THAT would have been much better than what we got, Doom just ignoring that the planet was about to die was just stupid IMO.

Since the first f4 film, doom was horribly portrayed. I expect something like this from him. Although this movie was better than the 1st, it was still pretty bad.

I don't remember the FF ever being corportately (if that's even a word) sponsored.

Just such a blatant advertisement for Dodge; in fact, the entire movie was a giant advertisement for Dell, Dodge, and any other company logo patched to Johnny's costume at the beginning of the film.

ok...

I´m gonna say this, yeah, the movie significantly improves from the first, but when all is said and done, it´s too little too late... The good is, the direction this time at least makes some effort to give it some sense of awe and kinetic excitement, the Surfer was great, maybe the thing they got more right in all the franchise except for the banter between Johnny and Ben, Reed was at least a little more assertive and proactive, even though I still don´t see him even close to "one of the greatest minds of the 21st century", and the tone manages to be at least a bit more serious. but still too much time is wasted in such a short movie with silly, and frankly unfunny comedic bits with the characters´powers, The Thing was completely wasted after being one of the few saving graces of the first, and Dr. Doom is a complete, absolute, unmitigated disaster, he´s DINO, Doom In Name Only. Period. The ending was way too vague and senseless, the girl being dead and resurrected was the most obvious, and redundant and lazily executed cliché in the world, and, since this movie isn´t making the pile of money that Fox was hoping for, I seriously suspect a storm cloud with some vague hidden outline is as much of Galactus as we may see on the big screen. It´s not the train wreck that the first was, but still far below the potential of the FF. It´s not a matter of being light or not, it´s a matter of craft, and the people involved have little of it.

The logos and endorsement aspect really turned me off. With the Transformers I can come to terms with it considering how dependent the movie is on the vehicles, but in a Fantastic Four movie it takes away from what makes them fantastic when they keep on endorsing all of these random companies. At least Sony was subtle with it in SM3.

I enjoyed FF2....but thats largly due to Silver Surfers presence. I thought he saved the film at times....everytime he was on screen, I picked up my concentration and excitment. I thought he was excellent- HERES TO A SILVER SURFER FILM!!!...A SERIOUS FILM!

Now that you mention, I think about it and I agree 100%. The Silver Surfer brought the best thing out of this movie.

D!

Just passing through on my way to bed. I'd agree that SS was the best thing in the film too, but I'd think people would consider me a bit biased.:cwink::woot:

>^..^<

Well, i'm not biased, but he was the best thing about the movie.:yay:

And I´m tired of hearing the "fun" argument in defense of the movie. Part of the problem with it is exactly that I didn´t have as much fun as I was hoping for... Honestly, most of the humor was lame, with a couple exceptions, okay, Johnny getting Thing´s body is funny, I didn´t even hate Richards dancing that much - I thought it was nice to see the guy not being a total dork for a change -, but most of the jokes were the kind you telegraph from miles away.
