FF 2 Rate and Review Thread

Hey marant - welcome to the Hype. I'm glad you enjoyed the movie. :)

Yeah, I remember Story saying something like that.

Next film: More Doom, less Victor.
Yeah doom and the inhumans or doom and puppet master or even moleman. not working together thats too Batman and Ribin. lol:o :woot:

Can some one please explain to me why you want the same villain in every movie? Is your concept of the FF's Universe so small that they can only encounter the same foe over and over? This has been my only problem with the X-Men movies, always Magneto. I understand that these characters are their main villains, but both books would often go YEARS between appearances with these guys, so can't we have a movie or two with out them as well? The Mole Man, the Mad Thinker, the Frightful Four, etc. all should have their own reasons for conflicts with the FF, and not be pawns of Doom. Look how Juggernaut was reduced to a flunky for Magneto in X3, is that what you want for some of the FF's greatest foes?

Why do we want Doom in every movie.

Because he is Dr. Doom!!! Marvel's greatest villain (though I like Thanos equally as much)!

He has yet to reach that level in the movies, but he is closer after this one. Just make him Ruler of Latveria, and we are good to go!

However, if the 3rd had the Inhumans, how would Doom work into that? He would seem forced, unlike with this movie.

The X-Men movies were about Xavier and Magneto. That's why Magneto was needed in all three films. However, he shouldn't have been the main villain in X3. He should have been secondary, like in X2.

I think the main villains in the movie were Dr. Doom and General Hager. I loved all the Reed/Hager arguements

The best Hager moment was when Doom killed him. The jerk! He deserved it!

In a way, I want Doom to come back. He is kind of like Magneto to me, and should be at least a secondary villain, but a story like the Inhumans is one which I can't think of a good way to incorporate him.

At the end, when Ben hit Doom with that wrecking ball, and knocked him into the ocean, Doom should have yelled "Curse you Richards!" while flying through the air. In fact, Dr. Doom's only line in the next movie should just be him saying "Curse you, Richards!" over and over again...

Without the "Curse you," before it, it's meaningless :cmad:...I want to see Doom doing, and failing at, really mundane everyday things, and then blaming it all on Reed, ala Twisted Toyfare Theater...example...

Dr. Doom is making a sandwhich...

Doom- Finally, I have created the perfect sandwhich!

A piece of alien crap falls into said sandwhich, Doom doesnt notice and takes a bite. His eyes bulge out of his head in disgust.

Doom- Curse you, Richards!

hahaha! Classic Gabe!

Ioan improved a bit in this one but he has more work to do. About halfway through he seemed to have gotten it together.

What was the turning point for you? Was it when he pwned the General? :cwink:

^ I dunno. Maybe after that Bachelor Party scene. Owning the General was awesome though.

Hey, every movie CAN have the same villian, I'm just saying that they don't HAVE to have the same villian.

The three X-Men movies did not HAVE to be about Magneto, they CHOSE to make them about him.

Of course Doom should have been in the Surfer movie, Doom stealing the Surfer's powers is one of the all time classic FF stories, and the Surfer was the ONLY reasonable way of bringing Doom back from the way he was left in FF1.

I just don't want these movies to turn into Superman - Luthor, Luthor, Luthor...yawn...

This is my first post on this site, and I do so because of the negative reviews I read about it prior to seeing it. I saw comments (on other sites) from people who actually get paid to write their opinions, and they made this film sound awful, complaining about everything from the endorsements jokes, the Fantasticar Dodge emblem, the Surfer, Galactus, on and on, blah blah blah!! I didn't expect much, but after it was over, I could not believe the reviewers could be so wrong! There was nothing worth complaining about in this film... oh, you fanboys and girls might want to nitpick about the details, but give it a rest, after 3 spideys, 3 xmen, 1 DD, GR, Elektra, a lot of Batmans and too many Supermans, you gotta know you can't have it all, so be happy with this one, it was pretty damn good!
As an older Marvel fan who hasn't been reading comics regularly, having the ability to see my childhood heroes on the big screen is a real treat, and I thought I too would be unhappy with the Galactus cloud, but it was cool and it was threatening... I thought the people in the audience were awed by it, just like they were when they saw Independence Day, only Galactus was different (yes, there was a ship inside the cloud, that was visible at times, and that made it even better, the audience never knew what the FF were truly up against). But what really got to me was the end, the very end, little kids in the audience stayed in their seats, and when they saw the Surfer, they were saying "He's still alive, he's still alive." They were amazed. And they cared. And that makes this movie good, real good.

Great observations.
Welcome to the Hype, Marant.

After seeing it tonight a second time, with an "average joe" Saturday night audience, I can definitely see that FF2 is a crowd-pleaser. Out of several hundred people, only 1 or 2 were beating a path to the exit as the credits rolled. The kids in particular remained transfixed. And yeah, they really cared that the Surfer survived.
Whatever qualms I have with the movie as a lifelong fan of 37 years (and boy do I have them) Fantastic Four 2 satisfied the 300+ people there tonight, especially the kids and ain't nothin' wrong with that.
The spinner racks of the 1960's didn't say "Hey, Twenty-something guys! Comics!" They said "Hey Kids, Comics!"
This movie remembers that, and respects it. It's about time a contemporary superhero movie did. And if any hero property ever called for the family-friendly" treatment, it was certainly this family. :yay:

So a surprising majority of people report enjoying it, some immensely.
Even over at the predominantly venomous AICN, the amount of love is impressive, counter-balanced mostly by potty-mouths who sound like they hate everything including themselves. That's about par for the course, and spells "success" by my yardstick. :woot:

Sure, there's plenty of stuff I'd change about FF2 if I could, but given the degree of improvement here, I feel it's looking a gift horse in the mouth.
This is a fun, fast-paced relatively "un-violent" action film.
And we need more of 'em.

Better than I expected. Fairly done well for such a monster adaptation to the big screen.

Doom gets a tummy ache from eating too much Mexican one night. He decides to relieve a little pressure and in the process he sharts his pants.

"Curse you, Richards!"

I enjoyed it better than the first.Silver Surfer was really great,I had no problem with LF doing the voice. As for Galactus, you kinda see a outline of his helmet when the Surfer goes into the cloud, where all the fire is at.Overall,GOOD MOVIE.

loved the movie... saw it last night.

but why do reed's clothes stretch? that seemed a little... wrong.

When a kid is all into these types of movies, I tend to enjoy it moreso than when a grown person is. I just do...because there's that innocence still there, man. And kids have ADD, so when they actually start to car about it, that's all you need.

Unstable molecules. :p
That's the convenient excuse they give in the comics so they don't have to draw him half naked, but I think it would be funny to see him get a bit out of sorts if he stretched too far. It would be mroe realistic. :p

I watched it in theaters....hehe.......and I thought it was average to above average.

Positive:
1. A lot on Human Torch and he was awesome
2. Great Silver Surfer cgi
3. Doom was decently cool this time around
4. Fantasticar looked wonderful on screen
5. Silver Surfer sounded great and had a great heart(good job FOX)
6. Jessica Alba was SMOKIN' and played Sue decently well

Negatives:
1. Mr. Fantastic Cgi was crap.
2. Final Battle wasn't all that great
3. Final battle Cgi crap
4. A lot of Human Torch and how he's matured(still a jokester though) but to me it felt a lil less than the whole F4 growing but just a lil more on Johnny than the rest.
5. Galactus Cloud.......(not even scary...BOOOO) Hopefully Surfer spinoff will have Galactus in Full glory.....HOPEFULLY

So that's what I thought of the movie it was like average or a lil above average and I didn't think It was anywhere better than Spider-man 3( I guess I found SM3 more enjoying )<< Don't think I didn't like the movie it was still great

Above Average(barely)

Saw it, and while its better than the first one IMHO its average. 6/10.

the good
I liked the action, especially getting to see thing show his true strength.
The surfer was pretty kool as well.
the banter between johnny and thing was good.

the bad.
The advertisments were over the top. especially johnny's suit.
Doom. seemed like the same doom from the first film to me.
Reed dancing was cringe worthy to me.
Galactus. nuff said.

thi is a reasonable question if vicious vic was the ONLY foe the ff fought i wonder who'd get sick of it first him or reed&co.?
