FF 2 Rate and Review Thread

I thought that was so lame too. It's nice to see Thing having a good sense of humor but cheap barber shop humor doesn't work. I did like how Reed asked him about the energy trail. Reminds people that he's not just muscle and is a specialist. I wish they brought out the scientist out of Sue.

I think they did in subtle ways, it was Sue that brought up the holes to look at in order to figure out where the SS would strike next...

Her and Reed's excitement about the trachyon thing.....when explaining it to the General....

Barber shop humor? How was the burp barber shop humor?

Barbershop humor can sometimes be rude, crude and sometimes socially unacceptable....:yay:

Also forgot to add that FF 2 was better then Superman Returns, a movie I just get angry at.

Exactly, i guess that gag was for the kids, but it was stupid and served no purpose. stuff like that burp and Ben growling at the Bear was just uncalled for. These are small issues and didn't take away from the film.

Really bad... Until half way its average, with some good action. But since they capture the surfer (how ridiculous was that?) the film turns to poor trash... Doom again wasted as a villain, the torture of the surfer was plain ridiculous, and the end is... Hey I cant even find the words... The silver beating Galactus like that? That simple? When he didnt even beat some millitairs and the FF? And Galactus is a cloud? Not even the intergalactic ship? Just sharing my opinion with you guys, but this was so bad, I will not waste more time discussing it. I wasnt expecting much, but I still think its a litle, just a litle better them the first. I would rate like this:

FF4: 2/10
FF4_ROTSS: 3/10

Hope they stop right here, and please forget the idea of a Surfer spinoff. It would be in the league of Elektra. Or worst.

What I think of FF2? I think that the 36% on Rottentomatoes is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much IMO. That pretty much sums it up. But overall it was entertaining and thats it nothing more. It had some really creative ideas this time around in terms of action elements such as the Surfer absorbing the missile, Surfer going through Sue's force shield, the Doom Surfer and the Super Skrull Johnny at the ending. It was highly entertaining but quality wise its just a few notches above the last.

First off regarding the discussion of this being better than SM3, it is so far beyond that SM3 it isn't even funny. I was pleasantly surprised how awesome FF2 was. The only nitpick was Doom was on for maybe 5 - 10 minutes tops. The Fantastic Four is the way superheroes are supposed to act not cry like a little beyootch a.k.a Peter.

Hey are you dissing FF 2 there buddy?

:whatever: :cwink:

I am not going to say this was a bad movie, but it was far from great, so I went with average on my vote, I was just really dissappointed with the way they handled galactus, I just expected more from him.

I expected this movie to be complete ****, just like the first one, but was pleasantly surprised when I actually found it entertaining. FAR from perfect, but not bad for what it was. I was also disappointed with Galactus, but hey, what are you going to do?

i just saw it.....wasnt expecting much at all after the 1st one was so dissapointing,...i thought it was definatley better than the 1st...still very cheesey, with childish dialogue and character depth but entertaining none the less...i enjoyed it more than ghost rider or SM3.
silver surfer was cool, but the climatic ending with him defeating galactus in moments was pretty stupid, the movie depicted that the board was more powerful than galactus himself, the climax again was too rushed and over too quickly....
its the sort of movie u have to let ur inner child embrace. if u dont u will think its just crap as there are plot holes and cheesey moments galore....along with some poor dialogue.....

crappy but entertaining is the way i would describe it.

my my 8th grade english teacher used that phrase all the time.

she would talk about something and say that was lude, crude, rude and socially unacceptable.

I know this is a little off topic but that post made me laugh.

My F4 Review...i'll keep it short.

I liked it but the movie was too short. There wasn't enough Thing or doom in the film. I like the action/adventure scenes. Alba and Gruffudd have to go, the latter is bland as hell and seems like he could care less about the movie he's playing in, and the former has a good on screen presense but is completely wrong for the role and isn't the best of actresses, I still loved Evans and Chiklis though. Doom still wasn't what he should have been but I liked the Silver Surfer.

Overall like the first one despite the fact that it still isn't as good as it should be and is just a slightly above average summer, I liked it well enough. It's an entertaining movie that derserves better reviews than the overcrowded overblown Spider-Man 3 or the bland and boring Superman Returns.

i think SR and SM3 got beteter reviews because the people were older than 15 yr.

fantastic four movies were made for kids. its like a cartoon. its made for kids but the adults can also watch them.

my opinon of course.

No SM3 got better reviews because some critics couldn't let go of their love for the first two lovely films. SR got better reviews because the critics enjoy overly serious movies (even when they shouldn't be) and they can't stop kissing Bryan Singers ass. Come on critics! "The Usual Suspects came out years ago, start actually reviewing his movies for a change.

Ofcourse you're right though, that is your opinion.

so critics shouldnt enjoy serious movies' so they should enjoy that kind of movie that you like or what?

critics only writte their opinion. and of course that adult people like more serious movies.

Everyone is influenced by the creators of past films. If they've done stuff that's been deemed sucky, anything else they make afterwards will be scrutinized even moreso than the ones that made good films back in the day.

I don't really want to turn this into a vs. thread (already had that fun last week in Marvel Films forum, ;) )

So, I'll just say critics did acknowledge for the most part that SM3 was vastly inferior to the second movie in that franchise and not up to snuff with the first for that matter. But Raimi still has a love for these characters and does try to explore their world, their psychologies (though some are simpler than others in his movie coughVenomcough) and gets into some weighty themes.

He also has a very quirky visual presence that jumps from all sorts of genres and while some may hate the dance scene that is classic Raimi and film critics tend to be film nerds so a reference to the AOD-Raimi we haven't seen in over a decade made some very happy (check Evil Dead boards at IMDB).

FF:ROTSS is classic Hollywood sutdio committee filmmaking. Safe, not very deep and boring. But it was remarkably faithful to the spirit of the '60s comics in some aspects (I would argue the sitcom angle overshadows that though) so fans will love it. But you do have to wonder where is the Silver Surfer who spoke siloliquies as if he was performing Shakespeare has gone in this movie and why Doom is still a a punk. I won't mention Galactus.

But FF satified what fans wanted to see (cool Silver Surfer and fun tone) SM3 did not, with odball sense of humor artistic flourishes and Raimi spending more time on his interests (Harry/Peter and Peter/MJ) t han fan favorite Venom. But to make it short I think why it got better reviews is because of what Peter Travers said (at Rollingstone Magazine):

" The third chapter in the Spidey saga (a fourth is in the planning stages) is uneven, ungainly and frayed at the edges but there's lively mischief in it still. My guess is that when the summer blockbuster season finishes pummeling us with formula, Spider-Man 3 is going to look like one of the few that was touched by human hands."

FF is the formula he speaks of. That is why critics hated it. Personally I enjoyed FF2 inspite of this.

Don't hurt me now.
