i saw it today i didnt think there was really anything special about it but it wasnt horrible i think something was just missing not sure what but there w as galactus was ok could have been more creative with him but surfer was good effects were good so i gave it an average
Ok so overall i'd say a decent movie. Silver Surfer needed more exposition, I didn't really get a feeling for him as a character.
Doctor Doom-Looked better, but had no screen time. Julian is wrong for the role, his voice just sounds like some joblo next door who you'd have over for cookouts.
So Galactus- I really thought the cloud could work...but I mean, Wow. I've seen hurricanes more fritening, and theway the SS defeated him had no explanation
When Sue dies, Ioan shows like no emotion. His eyes get bleary. I mean this is sue and reed! Marvel's lovers and all we get is watery eyes and Johnny and Ben are like okay, we have to stop Doom, oh Sue you're impaled, that kinda sucks....we have to stop doom
Finally I must say the writter's or Tim Story have no idea how to do a climax. I thought they learned the first time about easy villian defeats. I mean so much bulid up and then the most unsatisfying climax, esp for Doom.
^They had to stop Galactus...and to do that they had to stop Doom to get the board back to the Surfer...I would push aside my emotions to save the world as well as my own life. Sue told them too anyways...
I think alot of fanboys will pick this movie apart, but general audiences will like it when I went to watch it, I went with my brother and two of his friends and all three of them liked it as a good movie, but I had problems with the way galactus was handled but thats just my complaint.
I really enjoyed this film. Very entertaining. All the character I had problems with before, which was everyone except The Thing, was done justice...All the characters were better. The comedy was much better, it wasnt that cheesy, it was actually pretty funny.
I would have liked more screen time for the Silver Surfer. He just wasnt relly developed in depth, but maybe thats because they want to save him for the spinoff. I really liked his image, the chrome look was awesome. I think they did a really good job bringing him to life, my only problem was that he didnt get enough screen time.
Galactus, well, they did give him an epic look. I think I saw his head in the cloud with the fire outline. It certainly was the down point to an, an overall, entertaining film.
I also didnt like the end
where the silver surfer goes to galactus, and the just explode in space.
That was just an odd ending. Well, I'm most certainly looking forward to the silver surfer movie and, I never thought i'd say this, Fatastic Four 3. Overall, the movie was entertaining and miles above its prodecessor. I'd give it a 7.5/10 or an "above average" rating.
It's all opinion but I wouldn't criticize the screenplay to SM3 and praise FF:ROTSS which had just as many plot holes, more plot devices and a very shallowly told story.
But hey that's just my opinion.
Oh and I wasn't defending Spidey. More saying neither are innocent. FF2 is pretty to look at though.
I think the big issue is that the two franchises quite clearly put themselves out there on a totally different level.
It's like comparing a monthly comic with a more mature graphic novel. You need to judge them just as much on the intent as the end result... and, in that sense, 'Spider-Man 3' was the bigger failure because the franchise was set up to be far more realistic in tone.
By the same token, I say to people that - technically - 'X3' was probably a better film that the first 'Fantastic Four'. But, since the 'X-Men' franchise already had an established depth and reality, the film fell flat by going for the cheesy popcorn feel in part three. 'FF' is a cheesy popcorn franchise and succeeds wildy in being just that - good, fun entertainment.
I know I'm in a minority... but I think there's something wonderfully creepy about that youthful, suave voice coming out of that mask. It reminds me of 'Scream' and the way the killer spoke over the phone. So calm and collected. I want more Doom in part three!
I thought that Reed was much better this time round. I liked the way he really took leadership of the group & demonstrated it a couple of times. I really didn't like his effects though... They still can't get them right - very disappointing
I though that the surfer was awesome! Much better than I expected. I also liked both his silver & grey modes. I understand why some people commented that he didn't get enough of a backstory, because if this was a standalone film a lot of people really wouldn't have had a clue what was going on. But for those in the know, it just makes me that much more excited to see him in his own film now!
Oh yeah... & the ending was weak as usual. Wish they could have come up with something a bit better than that. Also, why did they have to finish with another cheesy F4 symbol in the sky?!?
Overall, I really enjoyed the film though! Much better than the first. Will be interesting to see where they take the franchise in the third installment, which I hope will be coming along in the not too distant future...

It's about reviewing and judging in context.

I feel somewhat responsible for the SR bashing today, onlybecause I was using it as a comparison point.
I just think it's sad that dispite whatever problems there are with the 2 FF movies, when I see the torch fly, I say to myself "Hell Yeah!", but when I saw Superman the greatest flying hero ever in Superman Returns, I thought the 1970's style effects of the Reeves films looked better.

It gets a 5/10 from me. It's slightly better than the first movie, but that's not saying much. I think it's time for a new director.
Pros: Chris Evans as the Human Torch and Michael Chiklis as the Thing shined once again. The Silver Surfer was impressive, but it didn't really wow because it's been done before. The action was a lot better as well.
Cons:Jessica Alba wasn't convincing as the Invisible Woman once again. She was nice to look at, but that was it. Ioan Gruffudd as Mr. Fantastic felt more like a leader this time, but there was absolutely zero chemistry between him and Alba. A lot of the scenes felt awkward because of this. Julian McMahon didn't feel like Doom this time around. He was the best thing about the first film and he was hardly in it. He had even less screentime this time, which was a waste.
The plot....was there one? I didn't get half of what was going on. Why would they agree to work with Doom again? This is the same Doom that tried to kill them in the last movie. Why don't they keep an eye on him? Galactus was a joke. A cloud? Seriously. I thought the Silver Surfer is a powerful alien who zaps planets in an instant. When his board gets taken away, he is powerless. What? Doom steals the board and becomes even more powerful. What does that accomplish? He's Doctor ****ing Doom. He has all the power he needs.
That's all for now. I think they need to get a new director with a vision and get a new cast, but keep Evans and Chiklis.
9/10 ONLY because I was expecting a 5 or worse and was pleasantly surprised.
Finally, Reed Richards shows some balls...but would it hurt Gruffudd to spend a few days in the gym? I know Mr. Fantastic isn't buff but that guy is a waff.
Alba was horrible again, no surprise. I was even dissappointed in her looks with that greasy make-up to lighten her up. Her face was shining in some scenes, very un-natural.
SS was very cool....as was HT and all the effects involving the two.
Mr. Fantastic's dance scene was a joke....how could Fox in the year 2007 let that go on the big screen in a major motion picture? The bootleg FF from the 90's had better effects.
Decent story and writing for a PG movie....however, the ending was a letdown. The failure to put Galactus in the eye of the storm was surprising and lame at the same time.
Nice bounceback from FF, but a new cast and director are needed for FF3...but keep Evans!
My 9/10 was because I was "pleasantly surprised." I listed my pro's....Surfer and HT...I listed the con's Alba/Griffudd. I went in knowing that Alba/Griffudd were mis-cast....so it didn't ruin the movie for me.
Story still can't find a good way finish a movie....and for that, I'd like to see a new director.

Tomorrow is the Marvel Marathon. My wife is taking my other kids out to a birthday party tomorrow, so my son and I are going to wake up and watch Ghost Rider, then catch a double feature of Spider-man 3 and Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer!
