FF 2 Rate and Review Thread

*too short? yes...
*not enough Doom? yes...
*final scenes too dark? yes....
*not enough action? yes....

Too short: not exactly. I wouldn't be able to stand much more of that. :cwink:

Not enough Doom: Doom? Where?:oldrazz:

Final scenes too dark: let alone the "shadow" of what should have been Galactus. Or the "that's it?" ending.

Not enough action: yes, and not enough brains. Reed and Doom are still dull and unintelligent (and out of character).

Alba was weird with all that heavy production to make her look like a blonde; silly jokes still in; Thing had too little screentime; the drama was too superficial, and the timing is still wrong; Fishburne's voice in the body of Doug Jones: plain wrong (he should have voiced Galactus in a normal world :yay:).

Etc.

I have to agree that the F4 should have done something a bit more proactive than Johnny giving SS a push. It seemed like the fight could have been so much more and it probably was until the Fox suits stuck their noses into it.

but I totally disagree with anyone that says the characterization and chemistry was off......that IMO, are 2 of the biggest strengths of this movie....and far from weaknesses

Personally, I always judge a film by what it was capable of doing. With this budget, this is obviously as much action as we can get. We got more action at the expense of running time.

As for the final scenes being "too dark"... I don't see how. I saw everything perfectly both times. Maybe your theater had the bulb on the project set too low.

I've seen it in 5 different theatres, and I'm not the only one on here that has said that the last scenes (Great Wall, Shanghai) were too dark....several people have mentioned as well.

Heres the thing, FF2 Budget of 130 Million allowed for great action, but yet nothing in the movie impacted many people aso ther much better superhero movies have. maybe fox didn't want a movie that made people think to much, I Get that, but really movie could of been so much more then what it was.

I think it's easy to say that the action throughout the film is much more global and wide-reaching than anything you see in Spider-Man or Batman films. And even the first X-Men. It's about on par with the impact of things in TLS, but not as broad as things were in X2.

They hammered a Star Wars scope into a romantic comedy pattern. Go figure :whatever:

Even so, Surfer only accepted Galactus´ proposal to save his world and his love, that in itself was a self-sacrificing gesture.

But, that I remember, it wasn´t the Surfer, but the nulifier that made Galactus go away in the original story. It doesn´t have to be exactly the same thing, but they could have tried to come up with some similar kind of device.

I dont see why the Surfer just couldnt have persuaded Galactus to leave Earth, but Galactus imprisons the Surfer on earth. Then, in the SS movie, the Surfer breaks free of earth. Why couldnt they just have done that instead of having the Surfer do something far beyond his power level which was destroying Galactus?

Again, I don't think Galactus is dead, just pushed away from the planet. If SS had blown him up, wouldn't there have been a lot of junk falling out of the sky from his remains?

You aren't. It's just that people seem to fall into "satisfied" or "disappointed" in regards to this movie, which equates rapidly into "it was great" or "it sucked". There doesn't seem to be hesitation or a grey area.

Where have you been man? There is no grey area on the hype :cwink:

I think alot of it has been a pile on from some of the DC fanboys on the boards here. They were pissed off at the negative reaction to Superman Returns last year. The initial response to the movie (and anyone can go back and read the threads) was positive.

When it was clear that this film wouldn't make as much as the first the fanboys jumped in and started their diatribe.

I know what you are saying, but at the same time, the movie gave us NO indication that Galactus is still alive. Also, notice the SS's last words, "This is the end.....for both of us!"

I take it you didn't see the scene after the credits where [BLACKOUT]Silver Surfer is shown still alive[/BLACKOUT]? That's a good indication there.

No i didnt actually, thanks for the info though, this does change a lot of my feelings about the ending.

I saw this on Saturday, last day to use my ticket from my Fantastic Four Extended Edition.

It was only good for up $8.50 so I still had to pay a $1.00 for it but even then I think I paid too much.

And everyone can say well, we don't know what was behind the cloud, or the fact that you saw a "shadow" but in the end it was still a f'cking cloud.

Ugh. I was hoping beyond hope that they would have showed something or ANYTHING!

I've seen SM 3, Shrek 3, AWE, Ocean's 13, Knocked Up and Transformers and this has got to be the WORST movie I saw this year.

So congratulations to Story, the cast, crew and Fox for messing up yet another Marvel movie.

Below Average.

Amen to that dude...I can't tell you how pissed I was when I realized Galactus wouldn't be making an appearance. I mean, at least a spaceship would've been nice for cryin out loud! :cmad:

Exactly, a HUGE spaceship, with a quick shot of his eyes, and quick shot of his mouth smiling just before the Surfer unleashes his power, would have made him MUCH more of a presence IMO.

^ I agree I really would have loved that.

However it didn't stop me from enjoying the film. :D

edit- except for the smiling, IMO that's a little cheesy. :)

I just saw this movie yesterday and I though it was pretty good. I was hesitant to go see it because I though the first one was garbage but I've heard that it was better and went to go see it. I found it to be a little better than Spider-man 3 and a vast improvement over the first one. It's still not one of the best comic book movies out but it was good.

When she encounters the Surfer for the first time, the helicopter at the wedding, talking to Reed, and trying to protect the Surfer from Doom.

Okay thanks. How'd it look visually? I saw in aosme kind oftrailer that she uses two bubbles on these security guards.
