FF 2 Rate and Review Thread

And also the ferris wheel in London and the soldiers in the base.

Umm. It was better than the first, but that ain't saying much. With a little improvement on the script, less humor, longer running time, Galactus actually appearing and not being only a silhouette this could have been a kickass movie. But nah, it was just a nah.

^ I agree I really would have loved that.

However it didn't stop me from enjoying the film. :D

edit- except for the smiling, IMO that's a little cheesy. :)

I think it would have been quite chilling, and it would have shown that Galactus KNEW the Surfer couldnt destory him IMO.

Just recently saw this, and I gotta say, I didn't like it very much at all.
It's strange, it's based on one of the more epic classic storylines, yet not once did it feel epic or big. There's no sense of gravity to it at all.
Furthermore, I felt like Galactus was wasted. Not only was he not translated right, he never really felt like a threat at all.
Doom's sub-story was just weird. What the hell is his motivation anyways? Power? Revenge on Richards? It's never gone into even briefly. Besides that
if he's now healed, why is he wearing that armor?
. The final confrontation with
Doom draws all of the energy from what should be the real climax (the arrival of Galactus).

Just as with the previous film, I feel like Story does like the FF, and he does understand certain aspects of what needs to be done with them, but he just can't get it done. Also... what's up with the running time?

There are some positives in there as well... they just don't make up for it. Chris Evans still totally nails the part of the Human Torch, and Ottman's score is still pretty good. Some of the banter between Torch and Ben works as well.
The effects for the Silver Surfer were excellent.

I voted below average, though I did sort of consider voting "poor" first. I considered it mostly bad, but not as bad as... say... Ghostrider (which I thought was terrible).

Well, I know I said many negative things about this movie, and I stick to them... But I´ll be damned if this movie didn´t look a lot better after I saw Transformers (great visuals and FX and Megan Fox´s hot, but half a dozen lobotomized monkeys with computers could come up with a better script...)

Hi guys i'm new here,

I just finished seeing FF2 for a second time and...ugh it just got worse for me...

FF1 was alot better to me but i also was not as big a fan of FF then but since then i have really gotten into the FF comics and this was really painful...

i mean
a) why is johnny a super skrull at the end of the movie (powers wise)
b) Doom is not very Doomsy but more like Cole from charmed...
c) acting was horrible

about the acting, i duno i've had a bit of a hard time grasping alba as sue storm...

Alba is great but not a blond white girl...
she's a brunette with mexican ancestry and thats what makes her beautiful but not a sue storm...

out of hundreds of young actresses they could not find one blond, blue eyed fair skinned actress???

I always wanted to see alba in a comic book movie but not as a roe that just make her look ridiculous

that being said this is only my opinion as i'm sure many ppl loved it and have their reason and opinions as too why which are just as right/wrong as my opinions so i'm not putting anyone's views down just expressing mine

The movie finally got released here, and I went to see it last sunday with my brother. I saw the first movie with him too, and we both liked it for what it was: a fun superhero movie. We both liked the second one too.

What I liked the most in this movie, and in the first one, was the chemistry of the cast. They seemed to have a lot of fun together. I've never been a comicbook reader, so I know little about the Fantastic Four, but I knew they are a family of superheroes, and this movie made me believe that, moreso than the first one. I also felt that Gruffud and Alba had better parts than in the first movie.

The movie as a whole was too short for this particular story. A little more exposition for Dr Doom, and Galactus really would have helped the movie. Just like in the first movie, Dr Doom is just being evil for no particular reason.
The Surfer himself was fantastic, both the character and the effects, but we get to know too little of him to really understand him. Him standing up to Galactus at the end because he realizes "he does have a choice" is a little too simple.
As for Galactus, I mentioned earlier that I've never read the comics, so I can't really be that mad that Galactus is a cloud in this one. I do think it totally lacked the feeling of a global threat, and I think a more sentient being than a huge cloud would be way more threatening, as it shows us how small we really are. This movie is more SF than the first one, and if the third one continues this trend, the real Galactus could be properly introduced.

I thought some of the action scenes were cut a little too short. The Fantastic Four saving the London Eye seemed more like a montage than an actual scene. A little more build up towards it would have helped.
Johnny chasing the Surfer was great, as was the chase of Dr Doom with the Fantastic Car.
The final battle between Dr Doom and Johnny was again, too short. I also would have liked it if it would have taken all four of them to take them out, instead of all their powers combined in Johnny.

Overall, I loved the movie. It was short, but had a better pace than the first one, and better acting and effects. I also liked most of the humor, and Powell's music is amazing.

In trailer we see Thing grabbing a car in the street in front of people. We dont see this scene in the movie!!!!!!!!

Hi guys!!

The movie is finally here and I saw it last night. I went late (23.00) and it was completly full!!:woot:

People laughed during the movie, mostly with Johnny.

It have great special efects and the characters have changed from the last movie, mostly Reed and Johnny. I love the way they have turned out. They are more a family now, like in the comics.

So... I just wanted to say that. That I FINALLY saw it in the cinema and I love it!!! The only bad thing is that I would like it to be longer. But, it's ok as it is. Good movie.:yay:

Hey !
The film opened in France last Wednesday (grrr!) and I saw it a few hours ago.

I voted Average because I was let down a lot by the FF and Doom and was thrilled by the Surfer, how he looked, talked, everything...
I wish he had been more in Surfer mode, observing people and nature and making his decision on this, rather than Sue reminding him of Shalla Bal...
The rest wasn't as good as in the first film.
It's sad but I wouldn't be mad if they decided not to make a third one. :(

I'm late, the film has just been released in France, so I've just seen it now ; I was pretty sure I would appreciate it, since I liked the first one ... and God, yes that was truely great. I liked it very much. One could complain about the 1 or 2 campy sentences, but I'm not someone who have to like everything in a film in order to appreciate it, so I liked it a lot.
I think the "weak" point of the story is how Von Doom suits into the story, but the F4 were great, the FX were excellent, Von Doom was good and the Surfer was truely amazing!

Thanks for the reviews guys. I know it must suck only getting to see this after a lot of the fanfare has died off already.

Well it is kinda good that there is a whole new level of excitement as the film opens elsewhere, it is kinda good to step back and get a fresh perspective.

So glad that others around the world are finally seeing this movie and enjoying it. I really liked this film and thought it should have outdone the first film at the box office.

The blockbusters were too many this summer!! And although I would include FF2 as (what should have been a) summer blockbuster, the original film was not really liked by fans. So sad!!

Too true.:o That's one of the reasons why i think it's not made more money the first movie.

I thought it was average. Not as bad as number one, but it could've been better if it didn't breeze by so quickly (89 minutes? Seriously?). Fox shouldn't be so afraid of letting their movies go beyond the 2 hour mark.

Oh, and hi everyone :p .

Hey Milu, welcome to the hype.

^^ Hi Milu, welcome to the hype.

Again, cause I am a broken record, any news on FF3?

Okay, I finally got around to seeing this movie. Here goes.

I liked it more than the first movie. It felt like there was... jeeze, a plot, I guess. Doom actually had a plan beyond "I'm watching you through a camera, and now I want to kill Reed." I still felt like he wasn't all that menacing, though. Like... this is Dr. Doom? This is the greatest villain in the Marvel Universe? Thanks, but no thanks. He still kinda sucks. Moving on.

I'm never disappointed by Chris Evans' Human Torch. Keep up the good word, buddy.

With the first Fan4 movie, Jessica was given this great dye job to make her blond. Not this time. No, let's give her a wig. And let's bring attention to that by showing her glued-on hairline several times. Looks aside, Jessica still isn't capable of convincing me she's this mature womanly figure and Reed's peer. In real life, Jessica is the same age as Chris, and that's exactly how it feels in the movie. Like she's as much as an adult-kid as he is, only she can maintain a relationship with a man who almost comes off as her father.

Ioan Gruffudd. First, I'd like to thank Behindthename.com and the BBC's website for showing me how truly awkward Welsh names are, and that, for whatever reason, two D's together make a "th" sound. Now I can finally pronounce his name. That aside, Ioan still makes for a good Reed. I was happy with that scene where Reed grew a pair, and stood up to the general. He doesn't have the natural leadership of comic-Reed, but you can see that spark all over Ioan's portrayal in some scenes.

The Thing. Still good. Still rockin' it.

Overall, the "spirit" of the Fantastic Four was dead on. Like the first movie, you can tell the director loves the Fan4. However, also like the first movie, this movies finds its faults in its pacing, villain, and main plot points. Everything was there, but it all felt so weak. It's not a bad movie, per se, but it's not a strong one. It was watchable, and even fun at times, but still kinda disappointing.

Overall, I guess I kinda liked it. Much better than the first movie. My biggest disappointment was toward the end when I felt myself asking "where's Galactus, and why is the Earth being eaten by a miniature nebula?"

Maybe he was busy.....:csad:

He might have just seen it on DVD, which I have a feeling alot of people waited for this movie on DVD.......which is a small amount of the upsetting BO numbers....

Oh this one slipped under my radar:cmad:
