Final Fantasy XV

OMG!! Cindy!! In 4K!! In HDR!!!

:drl:

:hmr:

:ilv:

:thud:

Lol, gratz. Cindy is fan service incarnate. Have her service the regalia, she either pushes her boobs against the window, or you get her bending over. Not saying that's a bad thing, lmao.

Also in agreement about Chocobos being the way to go. Way more fun going off road. The regalia is cool from time to time though. Also the hunt to unlock Chocobos with the giant Behemoth is badass. I won't spoil things, but there was a hint of Uncharted production values in that entire thing.

I've also grown to like fishing. At first I was reeling non stop while following the on screen arrows. I ended up tearing up a lot of line. Once I realized you ease up when it says tension I rarely changed lines, catch them faster, and get the big fish now. It reminds me of Breath of Fire 3, and Ocarina of Time's fishing both mashed together.

none of that about Cindy is a bad thing.........:oldrazz:

oh, and thanks for the advice about fishing. I'll keep that in mind.

Speaking of Chocobos, can you by any chance name your Chocobos?

Yes you can! I haven't yet. They can also be customized to a certain degree but you earn those items the more you play.

and the title screen music is already lovely..........

Yes it is. When I first fired up the game my youngster yelled from across the house "Dad! What is that sad music?" haha.

The touch-pad menu music is a solid tune too. I don't know what it is exactly, but it is reminiscent of some old-school PSOne soundtracks, takes me back.

so that means.......I can name my Chocobo......Stella??

Stella will live on!! :argh:

You can name, and choose the color. On top of that you can earn medals to put on your Chocobo that will display on it. Plus you can increase it's stats, ect., and choose the color of your 3 friends Chocobos too.

As for fishing tip, yeah I went about it the wrong way at first, and because of that I didn't enjoy it as much. I was breaking lines, and losing the big fish. I was basically using a 50 gil line per fish, and it was adding up. Once I learned to ease off the reel some I started to enjoy it. I mentioned BoF III's fishing, and I really enjoyed that, and now can see some of it in XV.

Iv watched countless videos on this and I still don't have a f'ing clue what is going on in this game. Im just gonna have to buy it and experience it for myself.

Anyone know how long the game is? Is this an epic scale game or a 10-12 hour romp?

I've read some who say they've finished the game in about 20-23 hours, without doing much of the side quests. so, factoring in the side quests, it should be longer than that, give or take.

as for the story, basically, you're a young Prince who goes on a road trip with his 3 best buds on his way to get married to a Princess ( who's your childhood friend ) for political reasons. Along the way, your car breaks down, you meet a busty blonde car mechanic and decide to elope with her.......and........and.......

no.....wait.......that's my Final Fantasy............:o :oldrazz:

but it does involve a road trip, a Prince, and his 3 best friends. ;)

One person said they just did the main story, ignoring all side quests, and dungeons, and finished around 30 hours. Not sure how true that is. If true though, with the amount of optional stuff, and I'm sure the usual end game dungeons and bosses, I imagine I'll be well over 60 hours myself. I mean I'm 20 hours in, doing a lot of side quests on the way, and have only just unlocked Chocobos, and haven't advanced far past the first big plot moment.

Considering I just finished Star Ocean which is 20 hours if you do everything, lol, I'm appreciating the increased game length. I'm sure I'm not the avg playtime standard though as I'm going ES style, and exploring a lot, doing quest, gathering ingredients, fishing, and visiting all optional towns.

Haha, I'm on chapter 3 out of who knows how many, with 25 hours.

Yeah, I haven't even met Iris, lol. I've been doing hunts, and just got my ass kicked trying to do the 5 Coerl's hunt. So thinking of just getting back on track with the story to lvl a bit before I come back to that.

Another tip just in case (in general, not directed at you since you're farther than I am by a bit) , don't be afraid to camp, and stay at Inn's. I've already had a few character's do fun optional tasks, and Prompto had a good character driven talk with Noctis that ties into the Brotherhood anime's characterization of him, and his feelings of being with the group.

Hm, liking the idea of eloping with a busty blonde mechanic haha. Deff gonna have to check this out.

no. no. actually, I was being sarcastic about the eloping part....I was joking and made that part up.......lol.

I don't think you can actually do that nor do I think it's part of the story. In fact, I'm pretty sure it isn't. :cwink:

so don't get the game expecting that to happen. I was merely musing about my own naughty fantasies and got carried away...........:o :sus

but, there is a busty blonde mechanic who you meet very early on and she is indeed smokin!! :hmr: :oldrazz:

sadly, though, she's more of a minor supporting character. The main characters are the Prince Noctis and his 3 friends. They form your core party, with a few guest characters joining from time to time. But mainly, it's the 4 guys. And the story revolves around their roadtrip and it's about their bond, friendship, and brotherhood - among other things of course.

Just got in a fight with a giant enemy, reminded me of GOW 3. I'm loveing that boss fights aren't just cut scene, battle transition like usual. Interacting with the lead up to a boss with no screen swirl, and load time is a change FF needed, IMO.

Also kicking myself for not realizing how customizable the Regalia is. I thought decals were for the whole car, not each section being customizable. Got her looking pretty good atm.

Oh, one last thing, for those of you who haven't done this yet, check the shop menu while in the Regalia, there's a portable MP3 player for sale. I checked that shop early game, and didn't remember seeing it, so it might unlock after a certain point. Either way it let's you listen to all the music you can in your car while on foot. I'ver been playing the VII soundtrack for nostalgia, and XIII's just because it had great music (XIII's battle theme may be my overall favorite FF battle theme).

Square Enix planning short-, mid-, and long-term goals.

FFXV-Update-Road-Map.jpg

Square Enix released a detailed roadmap of future updates coming to Final Fantasy XV today.

The briefing comes straight from director Hajime Tabata himself, who discusses the team’s short-, mid-, and long-term goals for the updates.
Get the details below.
■ Comment from Director Hajime Tabata
Thank you for playing Final Fantasy XV. Having shipped five million copies worldwide, Final Fantasy XV was truly able to achieve great results. To the many of you who purchased the game, I would like to express my sincerest thanks.
Currently, I am hearing that an exceedingly large bunch of players around the world are enjoying the game to their heart’s content. All of the staff are truly happy that with how content users are with this new way to play Final Fantasy.
As promised from before release, Final Fantasy XV is not going to be released and then that’s the end of it. From here one, we will continue to update the game to provide a richer gameplay experience to players around the world. And as thanks for surpassing five million copies, we decided to strengthen the update plan considerably beyond what we originally planned, and will share a concrete roadmap.
These are short-term, mid-term, and long-term updates separate from the previously reported downloadable content that make the Final Fantasy XV gameplay experience even richer and get you playing longer, together with updates based on requests from players after release, that we will offer free of charge.

Final Fantasy XV Update Roadmap

—Short-Term Goals
First, we will further increase the gameplay satisfaction level of Chapter 13. For that reason, we have already started work on many enhancements, such as significantly enhancing the power of ring magic and so on. We will announce details on these enhancements and when we plan to offer this update at a later time.

—Mid-Term Goals

We will enhance the presentation of the second half of the game, and further enhance the satsifaction level of the story experience. For example, we plan to add event scenes that depict things like, “Why does the character Ravus follow that fate?” Since we’re doing localization work to have voice support in all languages for the the added event scenes, we’re taking this on as a mid-term goal. Project details will be announced once they have been decided.

—Long-Term Goals

We will make important characters that appear in the main story of the game available to use as playable characters. Also, we will consider adding an avatar system to create an original character to play the game.

In addition to this, we plan to actively continue updates so that players can enjoy Final Fantasy XV over a long period of time.

—Other

Play a new game while carrying over your status from a cleared game. We will offer various items that expand the breadth of gameplay, like for low-level clears and invincible suits. We will increase the font size so that messages are easier to read.

We will offer content such as boss battles complete with rewards and results, limited time mob hunts, etc. in order for you to enjoy the game live.
It should be noted that the already announced downloadable content will be released as originally planned.

  • Final Fantasy XV Holiday Pack (tentative)
  • Final Fantasy XV Booster Pack (tentative)
  • Final Fantasy XV Episode Gladiolus (tentative)
  • Final Fantasy XV Episode Ignis (tentative)
  • Final Fantasy XV Episode Prompto (tentative)
  • Final Fantasy XV Online Expansion Pack: War Buddy (tentative)
From all of the staff to every one of the players around the world, we hope that you will enjoy Final Fantasy XV more and more. From now on, please give Final Fantasy XV, as well as the Final Fantasy series, your best regards.
— Final Fantasy XV Director Hajime Tabata

Finally finished the game. Gotta say it was a disappintment overall. Poor story. Throw away villains. Main character is fairly unemotional.

The relationship between Noct & Luna seems portrayed more as one of burden & obligation. I felt more warmth between Iris & Noctis in their brief interactions than anything Luna shared with Noctis.

Ravus was wasted potential. At first he seemed as though he could have been this game's Sephiroth, but was barely even present.
Nor was the Imperial leader outside of a single scene.
The story felt like it had gaping holes cut out of it.

Ardyn is a poor villain. His character has a third act reveal essentially out of nowhere instead of a natural progression of plot and character.

Game feels more hack & slashy. Phase shift is gimmicky and wait mode isn't a good substitute for traditional turn based system.

That's just a quick general take I have on the game at the moment. Some things had potential, but it doesn't come together weoll imo.

wait??

custom playable characters/avatars may be coming??

how would that even work?

and if they are going to make other characters playable, I want Luna, Iris, and Aranea.

Aranea, especially, has potential. Iris, too.

well, that's disappointing to hear. but it is inline with impressions that I've read elsewhere and it does confirm some of my worries. :csad:

Sorry you didn't enjoy it. I know this is your opinion, but my experience has been the opposite. I'll give you the villain thing, the Empire is threatening, but individually they're just ok. Past that I love the combat, stories been good (less convoluted than XIII's at the very least), and I'm enjoying it.

As for Noctis, and Luna, I don't see that either, atleast at the point I'm at. Cutscenes, and the passing of the notebook have shown Noctis, and Luna care about eachother. Especially the childhood flashbacks, and way Noctis shows emotion, and gasps each time Luna's name is mentioned. Then again I have the Japanese voices on, so maybe the English dub is different. I'm also recognizing things may change when I reach the point you're at.

Final Fantasy stories are always pretty bad. That this is worse then usual is saying something. :funny:

I am like 10 hours in and the writing is so bad.
