Iron Man 2 First look at Whiplash!

I wonder if Whiplash will have a jetpack/jetboots, or that flying disk thing that he had in the comics. He can't be a landbased villain.

For those of you who think that Whiplash is wearing a convict uniform, look closer. Check out the guy right behind him, on the right, see the guy with the orange uniform? He's wearing a driver uniform. So one can assume that Whiplash beaks into the Monaco Grand Prix Circuit dressed as a driver. I don't think this is the scene where he breaks out of jail. My understanding is that Whiplash was imprisoned in Russia and the scene clearly takes place at Monaco so I don't think the two have any connection. This might very well be Whiplash look for the entire movie but then again when asked whether Rourke is playing Whiplash or Crimson Dynamo, Downey answered "a little bit of both"
I look at the picture and I don't see any elements of this armor remotly connected to Crimson Dynamo's. Maybe he meant that they borrowed the Russian aspect of the Crimson Dynamo character but I really think that Whiplash will evolve to become Crimson Dynamo, wearing an armor like that:

I do like the photo better than this leaf blower concept art to tell you the truth. And I sure like it better than the ponytail Whiplash/Blacklash of the 70's and 80's.

Looks good, but I agree he doesn't appear tough enough to give Iron Man trouble. Especially if he's got War Machine right there beside him. No shirt and just a couple high-tech whips isn't going to stand up against Stark's armor!

I do like the photo better than this leaf blower concept art to tell you the truth. And I sure like it better than the ponytail Whiplash/Blacklash of the 70's and 80's.

That's because you didn't see Whiplash/Blacklash in his smokin' black Zorro-like costume. t: He looked dashing like a marksman weapon specialist. What's cool about is that he's a like Hawkeye with his trick arrows but with various whips instead. One can be a stiletto, another can become a lance, another is an electric whip, etc...

If it would have been me I would have used Whiplash as a dashing spy that steal Stark tech along other criminals. And then have Justin Hammer build them various weapons from it.

Considering how well executed the Iron Man armor was, this is definitely underwhelming. Even if it is a prototype, it's terribly unimpressive. Whiplash is supposed to be a hi-tech assasin of sorts...although I guess their are going to meld two villains into one for this film.

Favs has earned alot of cred with fans. I hope he doesn't blow it by getting to cute with the characters and story for the sequel.

I never really cared for Whiplash. He's a guy with whips and a really bad costume. So he's one of those character which I don't care what they do with him as long as he turns out decent.

Yeah when we look at the second movie in so many comic franchises the villain always seems much better than the first go round. They really should have gone with Mandarin for starters and the Whiplash outfit screams early 90's and doesn't measure up to the new crop of movies.

I don't mind if he keeps the really big villain for last. But I hope the Mandarin gets at least a cameo now.

It's actually pretty accurate to his comic book costume. Minus the gimp mask. It's definitely inspired by it.

I don't see the problem. Ivan will probably use this to go after the civilian Tony Stark, get his ass handed to him by War Machine, get upgraded Crimson Dynamo armour off Hammer, then have a sick fight against both Iron Man and War Machine at the end.

I don't get why people are fliping over the pic. Its just a prototype he makes and he'll get a hi-tech armour from hammer and then he'll go toe to toe with iron man. Its obvious that he can't fight IM in that outfit, favs woudn't be so stupid as to have whiplash give iron-man any trouble in that suit or rather half exoskeleton which is what it really is.

His costume is PERFECT save for the lack of the gimp mask.

wow I am surprised people are this frustrated with the picture. I thought it was pretty perfect. A small prototype perhaps, we haven't seen that much more into it so who knows

The way the costume is made is kind of weird. Leaves his hands kind of stuck to just holding whips. If Iron-Man closed a door on him how would he open it!?
