Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns Animated - Part 1

Tim Daly, George Newbern and Mark Valley somehow all sound really similar which I find kind of awesome.

I'd say that both part 1 and 2 are a tie. I liked them both. I still say under the red hood was the best dc animated

Haha, I noticed that too, and I also think it's awesome. Just like I find it awesome that Routh and Cavill (when using his American accent) both sound kinda like Chris Reeve. It's like there's some "universal voice" out there for the animated Superman (which Dude From Desperate Housewives did not achieve), and an entirely different universal voice out there for the live-action, cinematic Superman.

It always made the Tim Daly v. George Newbern battle really amusing to me... because, apart from slight differences, they sound pretty much the same.

I know and it rocks, he deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as those two.

It's funny how Superman has never really found his Kevin Conroy in animation.

Apart from perhaps Bud Collyer.

Well, I'm glad because it annoys me how many animated Batman's get bashed for not sounding like Conroy when most of them have perfectly good Batman voices.

Surely you don't mean Kyle Maclachlan (who should always be known as Dude from David Lynch movies)? I thought his Superman was great.

I think he means James Denton (Mike Delfino)... who I actually kind of liked.

Oh haha, I forgot he was on DH. Yeah I was talking about James Denton. I wouldn't have minded him if he was able to lose his southern accent. But speaking as a girl from Alabama, Kansas ain't the South, lol.

I have a question: what is the font used on both the covers and the credits for DKR1&2?

While watching this I couldn't help but say man Batman is too old to be hanging with kids. Reminded me of Michael Jackson.

this story gets better every time i read or see it. long live the knight. 10/10

I finally got around to seeing Part 1. I really liked it. It works as a movie and the animation was impressively fluid as was the voice acting which was pretty strong overall. I do think much of the subtext was lost though with the omission of the internal dialogue and a few scenes that were curiously changed (such as the colonel supplying the mutants with the weapons killing himself).

watched both parts today, just amazing
really hope the score is released soon

The carnival scene was just brutal as hell. I know it's animation and all, but the MPAA's judgements on these movies are just worthless.

Yeah it was just really awesome hearing him and immediately second guessing myself if that was either Newbern or Daly. :funny:

Definitely. It's really eerie that Valley now joins them in being almost identical. :o

Word he did great.

Seeing as Daly, Newbern and now Valley all sort of sound alike in a way we sort of do. ;)

It's funny cause the only Batman voice I disliked was Billy Baldwin, along with
Conroy I've loved them all Rino Romano, Diedrich Bader, Bruce Greenwood and Peter Weller

Oh boy, now I have Mutant speak coming out of my mouth now, lol

"She my nasty"

"Chicken legs. Lickin' chains."

"What pipe? What your billy bob?"

I liked Bruce Greenwood only in Under the Red Hood. I'm not quite sure why, but I didn't care for him in Young Justice.

I thought He was Better in YJ But also Great in Red Hood!

Hope They merge/edit the two parts in 1 film (TDKReturns), someday..
