Sci-Fi Fringe Thread - Part 2

I can't remember but was that the first time Rebecca Mader guest starred on Fringe or was she there during an earlier season? Maybe I'm confusing her role with the one on No Ordinary Family...

yes it is.

I was a bit in shock when Astro got shot, but then I realized she was still alive in the future. I Wonder how the finale will end? They can't get frozen in Amber yet, because Etta hasn't been born. Unless there is another big twist coming up, which wouldn't surprise me at all. Also, it looks like to me that Bell has created his own "Noah's Ark". Wonder what other creatures he created?

when she asked peter if the home has a nursery. she didn't say for the future, but hinted it that she might be pregnant now.

bell might be power hungry in this combined universe or he's trying to find a way to stop the observers. he has to be semi good as he was with the group when they ambered themselves.

Finally watched last night's episode. I was legitimately shocked to see Nimoy back and in the flesh. I wonder what about the new timeline changed Bell so much.

It just figures that [blackout]one of the few times we've seen Astrid use her gun, she ends up getting shot[/blackout]. :csad:

Fantastic episode.

I knew that Charlotte was up to no good! She's probably one of Bell's people.

An interesting piece of information. The woman in the psych ward was John Nobles actual daughter

" You're much prettier than the last warden!"

I do find it funny that the show managed to avoid using any of the real major players from LOST and then, in the course of two weeks, brought on Desmond and Charlotte.

:wow:

Well done, John Noble's sperm.

I hate to say it, but as a long time fan of Fringe, I felt that this episode was a bit of a letdown.

My main criticisms? First off, the whole Robert David Jones arc. For almost an entire season now, we've had RDJ portrayed as the main villain, using a variety of henchmen and minions to carry out his deeds. And all of a sudden, in the course of one episode, it's revealed to us that William Bell is actually the mastermind and RDJ is nothing more than hired help? Not only that, but RDJ then decides that he's going to physically attack Peter Bishop - something which he could easily have relegated to a henchman, which has been his usual approach in the past.

I dunno, the whole series of events leading up to RDJ dying just felt quite forced and out of sorts, like the writers had to find a way to get rid of RDJ and didn't mind having the character decide to get his own hands dirty, which is something he hasn't really done in the past.

And on that note, the RDJ/Peter fight? We've gone from Olivia being barely able to make lights blink, to being able to physically manipulate another human being. Does no-one else find that a bit far-fetched?

I also felt Walter and Astrid's behaviour to be out of character. Astrid has typically been depicted as the number cruncher on Fringe, but in this episode, when surrounded by armed villains, she suddenly decides it's time to employ some kung-fu? And not only that, but all the villains involved must be suffering from extremely poor eyesight considering that they were firing multiple rounds at Astrid and Walter (both of whom were unable to run at any great speed) before any of them landed a shot successfully.

I love Fringe, but with this episode it really felt that the writers were suddenly tying up loose ends with lazy writing, and forcing certain situations. I hope the second part of the finale doesn't suffer the same flaws.

As much as I liked this episode, I'm sorely disappointed that they put the future observer episode before it, that cheapened both episodes.

1: it spoiled Bell's return
2: it spoiled that he's (likely) directly responsible for Olivia's death
3: it spoiled that Astrid is in no mortal danger, takes the tension out of her shooting
4: it spoiled that Olivia is likely already pregnant based on that timeline

I was surprised though that this Bell is a villain in the new timeline, when I saw him in the amber before, I assumed he was trying to help the team, though it makes sense when I think about it. It's been bugging me ever since Jones said he'd been reconstructed on the molecular level. Who could've done it & why? At the time I wondered if it might've been some rogue faction of Observers but Belly seems like an equally omega-level villain.

I am wondering if something Fringey is going to happen to Olivia & she has their daughter in the finale ? & then they amber themselves & then Season 5 takes place in the future ? I guess a hell of a whole lot would have to happen in the finale

Getting ambered doesn't happen for another two years (2015), when the Observers invade. That gives plenty of time for Bell to switch sides again to fight the Observers in a lesser-of-two-evils choice (remember, this is new timeline Bell, maybe even alt-verse Bell, not the Belly we saw sacrifice himself back in the day).

That is true. I guess there will be another future episode next season. That is one plot line that needs to be wrapped up

Did you not see Episode 19 ? That episode spoiled him being alive :o

It didn't spoil him coming back. Hell, in Episode 19, I thought it was a CGI Nimoy (which I still think it was) because they couldn't get him back, since he retired from acting.

But leave it to JJ to get Nimoy back on set. Nimoy said he loved working with him on Star Trek.

And the preview for this weeks episode spoiled him being a bad guy. When Walter and Nina were talking she said "The William Bell I knew wouldn't do this. "

I miss the old Bell.:(

I wish I hadn't watched the preview. But I was too busy to grab the remote.

I have a bad habit of doing things while watching shows, so i missed not only his name appearing, but the thing in epi 19

It spoiled him being alive. Which in turn would give it a chance of him coming back & he did. They just amazingly kept it under wraps. But him being in amber in Episode 19. Showed that he was at least alive :o

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that was just a CG Nimoy in episode 19. I figured they were setting it up for him to appear in season 5. I had no idea he'd be appearing only two episodes later.

I didn't even think he was going to appear at all (although season 5 was more likely in my mind). I figured CG Nimoy was the only way they could get Bell back in the show, and therefore we wouldn't see him again.

/\SPAM-BOT

ANYWAY, THAT WAS MOST DEF A CG BELL IN THE FUTURE EPISODE. NOT EVEN A VERY GOOD ONE.

-DOOM :doom:

So everybody here is fine that season 1-3 is now forgotten and season 4 introduced an universe reboot.... and now william bell is evil???? Are you guys serious?
