'Fringe' Co-Showrunner Jeff Pinkner Exits for Final Season
He and J.H. Wyman had been co-running the show since season two.

As Fringe approaches its fifth and final season, it will be without one of its top bosses.

Jeff Pinkner, who has served as co-showrunner of Fox's cult series with J.H. Wyman since season two, will not be returning next year in order to pursue new projects, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Wyman will take on sole showrunning duties, while Pinkner will no longer keep his executive producer title on the show.

“We’re so excited to begin work on a fifth season of Fringe and to be able to deliver the 13 final episodes to our passionate and devoted fans,” said Fringe co-creator J.J. Abrams in a statement. “For four years, J.H. Wyman and Jeff Pinkner have worked tirelessly as a team to keep all the worlds in order on Fringe. We’re thankful for the invaluable contributions Jeff has made to the show and of course wish him well and look forward to working together in the future. J.H. Wyman’s importance to Fringe cannot be overstated, however, and I'm thrilled that he will continue as showrunner for the concluding chapters of our story. We can’t wait for our fans to see what we have in store for them in the wild conclusion of Fringe.”

Co-created by Abrams, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, Fox greenlighted 13 more episodes of Fringe in late April, bringing the series to an end after 100 episodes, a critical syndication threshold for studio Warner Bros. TV. Fringe was also acquired by the Science Channel in an off-network syndication deal.

That sucks. You'd think he would at least want to see things through to the end. I hope Wyman can handle things solo.

I would imagine it would be like Season 3. One episode present. The next one future & vice versa. Leading up to a maybe two hour finale ? First hour present leading up to future. Final hour the final confrontation with The Observers. I guess the entire season could also be in set in the future. But I would like to see more of how things got to that way
 
all about ratings. bbt destroys everything in terms of people watching. makes sense why they have them on the cover.

I consider myself a true nerd (computer programmer, comic/entertainment/videogame geek, science/math enthusiast), and I've never watched BBT.

All of my computer-programming co-nerds at work all watch/talk about Fringe. No one that I know watches BBT.

Is the movie Adjustment Bureau based on a previous novel or something? Because if it is an original idea, they completely stole the Observers look.
 
I'm surprised they so blatantly showed Olivia back with the team. Unless, of course, what was shown was between now and the Observer future.

But Goddamn if I didn't love that trailer. :up:
 
good trailer. really shows the showhas good editors as all footage was from past seasons. they just now started filming the final season, so sadly no new footage,but awesome non the less.
 
You know, I don't often say anything negative about Fringe because there isn't often anything to say in that regard, but it's kind of sad that the show is closing in on its final season and the most we know about Astrid, a regular cast member since day 1, is that she has a father. That's the biggest amount of story she's gotten: Astrid has A PARENT!

Shoot, even Lincoln got more story than she has.

Fox’s ‘Fringe’ Shuts Down Production For 2 Weeks As Star John Noble Gets Treatment

After four days of shooting, production on the final season of Fox’s cult sci-fi drama Fringe has been shut down for two weeks so co-star John Noble can get treatment for a sleep disorder. Filming on the final 13 episodes of the Warner Bros. TV-produced series began last Wednesday with Noble. On Monday, Noble was MIA at the show’s TCA panel when producers explained that he was not feeling well. The series resumed production yesterday without Noble, and a decision was made later in the day to go on hiatus while the 63-year-old actor receives treatment. Word is that Noble has had the condition, first reported by TMZ, for awhile. It was aggravated by his recent intense schedule that had him flying back from his native Australia right into Comic-Con then right into production on Season 5 of Fringe. Filming is now slated to resume on Aug. 7. The delay won’t affect the show’s Sept. 28 final season premiere.
