FX's The Bridge

My interest in this show has waned over time. I just don't know if I care enough about any of the characters.
Part of the problem is that we started off with missing/dead Juarez girls then had this huge tangential story about Marco and Tate that seems like it has nothing to do with the girls. Now we're back to the girls again. This show is making the same mistake The Killing did -- too much going on so the whole point gets lost. :( The one thing that saves it is that the characters are interesting enough to keep me coming back for more.

It was a great episode and seeing all those pictures of missing girls was chilling. All I could think when Linder was putting up her on that wall was so many..

Just caught up on the last 2 eps, I was surprised that Gus died but it was really well handled, both with the scenes on the bridge with Marco and Tate, and the scenes in the aftermath between Marco and Sonya, some excellent acting.

It's interesting that they are using the last 2 eps of the season to set up season 2 as the Tate story seems complete, although I'm thinking in season 2 Marco and Sonya will need to go to Tate for information as he worked the original case on the missing girls of Warez.

The scene with Linder and the farmer guy was odd, he talked like Eva had already gone but then we see her leaving work and getting into the car, was that meant to be a flashback?

Judging by the blurry glimpses of badges we saw when Eva was being raped I am guessing the "Beast" stuff is a myth and the girls are payment to dirty cops on the Texas side of the line for services rendered.

The only aspect I'm a little tired of is the cougar widow and the greasy scrub who's supposed to be some sort of big gangster.

This is the weakest link in the whole show. They brought it up and then didn't really do anything with it. Why are we supposed to care about these people?

I will say that there are some weak links here but still, if this show can keep up this quality next season it's gonna end up going down as one of the greats. This and Ray Donovan both have just had amazing seasons this summer

That's the real problem, obviously they are laying groundwork for this tunnel to play into the Girls of Warez storyline next season but the characters involved are all garbage so there's no investment in what happens to any of them once Sonya and Marco get onto them.

Am i the only one who thinks this past ep feels like it was originally intended to be the first ep of season 2, but for whatever reason FX changed their mind?

The jump in time, the setting up of a new storyline, etc...feels a little off to me...even though in general it was a good ep.

Yeah, I felt the same. Maybe the next ep will wrap things up a little more and we'll understand why they ended things after instead of before.

Pretty low key finale that set up some interesting plot points such as the house full of money, the missing sister, the Fed & the Cougar and of course Marco's dark path.

Marco going dark is interesting. I kept wondering why they kept showing him holding that knife. I thought they were going to show us that he was self mutilating himself or something.Marco said he wants to kill Tate himself, so that means Tate would have to be broken out of jail or Marco would have to get into the jail...should be good.

I saw the missing sister twist coming a mile away.

I'm just glad Matthew Lillard survived the season and will be continuing to get work. It'll be interesting to see him help his partner out next year.

I was thinking about that during the finale, he's still listed as a guest star but I wonder if he'll be a regular next season. He's been very good in the role.

Matthew Lillard is a really underrated actor

poor guy got typecast from all those crappy teen films he made in the late 90s/early 00s

Did anyone catch the season premiere?

The "big bad" this season (Eleanor) is creepy. Also, a lot of the critics say that this season is even better than the last.

Just watched it.

I've Loved Franka Potente (the big bad) since the Bourne films. She looks creepy as hell in that modest outfit and she seems to have an extreme case of OCD.

Holy, Didn't know 'Lola' was going to be in this season...

Is was a good premiere episode, boy Sonya. When she asked "is this creepy?" I was like hell yeah.

Hell yeah, but i wish i was on the receiving end of that kinda creepy!

That ass shot of Sonya completely threw me off. I had ask myself am I watching HBO or something for a minute.

Very good return for one of my favorite shows. And good lord Diane Kruger, you continue to blow my mind. Both with your acting and well... :wow:

Yeah, I was completely surprised and very happy to see her. Already looks like a fantastic bit of casting.

So true. FX is the home of the male backside shot, rarely see a woman's bottom. I am happy they made an exception. :D

True story: My thought when that ass shot came - "Bet the guys at SHH would love that." :funny:

They better show what happened to Eleanor and her muscle man. How did they end up from going to that house alive to her muscle man being dead (with a dog in that car???) and her completely naked washing herself off?!!!

totally forgot about the premiere

good thing it recorded on my DVR though. i'll try to watch it this weekend

i like this Eleanor character. she's got that odd ball factor like Sonya. makes her the perfect villain for Sonya.

that Sonya ass shot. hmmm...

Good start, Marco continuing to mope hopefully wont drag on too much longer. Sonya's creepy hook-up with her sister's, brother's killer is interesting because it makes me wonder if they got the wrong killer, I mean he was shot and essentially turned into a barely functional person before confessing....could his brother have been the real killer?

I'm guessing the two new psychos that have come into it will be connected to the missing girls of Warez case as well, they certainly made a frightening impact.

I have a question though; the ep opened with the lawyer of the widowed cougar from season 1 entering a bloody house with multiple corpses in it and there was a guy with a machete standing at the top of the stairs, was the guy the same guy that is investigating Marco's precinct?

This is why you're a rock chick Kvz! :D
