Apocalypse Gambit in the Apocalypse Movie

I personally stopped trying to guess the characters ages in the movies, much like their comic counter-parts they never age or when they do it's slowly. Besides they never really mention anyones age in the movies. In a way it becomes irrelevant, but I guess it's fun to speculate.

As Tatum has been garnering praise for his acting in Foxcatcher, has that changed anyone's outlook on his casting?

He, along with everyone else, looks sooooo good in Foxcatcher. Can't wait to see it!

So what is the status on this? Is he actually going to be in this movie? Because if he is, I find it extremely weird that they haven't even mentioned Gambit as part of the official plotline yet. Especially since Channing Tatum is going to be playing him. Or maybe it's just because I haven't been paying much attention...

Hello everyone and Hell Yeah!
Here's a concept video for Gambit that i was given the opportunity to make. I hope you all enjoy and I hope I did Gambit justice in bringing his fighting style to life. Would love to bring this sort of stuff to the big screen.

Just popped back into the thread to check it and noticed this. Can I just say that it is AWESOME!?

In a move that makes official that the X-Men character Gambit is getting his own spinoff movie with Channing Tatum as the card-savvy protagonist, Fox has set Robocop scribe Josh Zetumer to write the screenplay. The studio has officially attached Tatum as star, and to produce with his Free Association partner Reid Carolin, The Donners Company’s Lauren Shuler Donner, and Genre Films’ Simon Kinberg.

Now that it's official that Gambit's getting his own film, will this be his introduction or will it be in Apocalypse?

The screenplay will be based on a treatment penned by legendary Marvel Comics writer Chris Claremont, who with Jim Lee created the character for Marvel in 1990.

:eek::up:

I have the same question. Its interesting how none from the creative crew has talked about him being in Apocalypse recently.... I think its pretty likely, but who knows?..... they could surprise us and putting him on present time, if Fox, Singer and co. want to move forward with some spin-offs along with f4 all in present time

If fox continues like Warner brothers to copy the marvel studios way Gambit will probaly
be In Apocalypse.Although who knows the size of the role.

Chris Claremont doing story treatment Is the intresting thing from annoucement.

I personally think Gambit won't be in Apocalypse (maybe end credits). I expect this solo to be based in the present.

it would be the best route, since he fits the adult cast much more, with the likes of Hugh, James, Anna and so. But Fox uses to f*** up certain things and they more than likely will do it once again putting Gambit on the past for the second time

Its already been f**ked up though. The events of DOFP can't change the fact that the character was around in the 80s. Unless they want to completely disregard XOW. Plus any potential Gambit/Rogue stuff is in question because of DOFP ending with Rogue/Bobby. If there is little to no potential for any Gambit/Rogue then I just don't see any advantage.

Agreed. I think it would be best to intro him in Apocalypse and maybe give him a role like Quicksilver in DOFP or a little bigger.

I really like that we are getting a decent amount of antihero films coming out now. GOTG, Deadpool, Suicide Squad and Gambit. Pretty cool. We need more of those characters who walk the line. And Fox has plenty of them in the X verse. It's a nice switch, and should stand out compared to the all the other comic films being released.

Why is everyone boxed into the idea of the 2023 scene of DOFP as the conclusion of all things X-Men? ...

Huh? That end scene strongly hinted at Rogue and Bobby being together(again). The only reason, IMO, you break continuity to place Gambit with the OT is to put him in Rogue's orbit. If she's with Bobby then no Gambit IMO. Leave the character in the past, where we know him to be, and tie him to Storm. Or they could just force Gambit in there some way, and backtrack on that DOFP end scene. Kind of force Bobby out of the picture somehow(at least where Rogue is concerned).

Why would anyone expect them to put rogue and gambit together since the film series follows it's own rules and relationships

I am pretty sure they won't split iceman and rogue up for gambit

they are ignoring both Origins and Taylor Kitsch. So.... once you ignore it all, and you sign a totally different actor for a new version of the character, you can do whatever u want with him. So if they wanted they could easily put Tatum on present time, along with Deadpool and original cast. Its pretty easy, actually.

And the more characters/teams set in present time, the more possibilities.

Which is why I don't see the point in putting Gambit in 2023. The Rogue interaction ain't gonna be there. If DOFP had left things more ambiguous, then maybe. But it seemed pretty clear.

You're right, they absolutely could just ignore XOW. IMO the only reason that you'd put Gambit in the future, as opposed to the past, would be because of the Rogue character. That doesn't seem like a good idea considering how things seem to be set up now. If that was a realistic option, then yeah definitely place him in the future. But it doesn't seem like one, so I don't see how he "fits" better there. Leave him in the past and tie him to storm. IIRC they had history in comics.
