Sequels "Gambit" starring Channing Tatum? - Part 1

The fact that this movie was only done because Tatum made some offhand remarks about liking the character, and then subsequently received a $150 million budget, leads me to believe there's something to this. Seems like a shaky foundation to begin with.
Seriously, $150 million? That's easily triple what Deadpool is getting. Why in the world Fox thinks that Gambit needs that much money is absolute insanity, but I've learned to not question their decisions when it comes to Marvel movies.

Or maybe they saw him suited him up and heard his Cajun accent and quickly halted production because it was all unintentionally funny.

Yuuuup.
It always seemed like a ridiculous notion to begin with. "Quick, an A-list actor said he was interested in this character! Throw some contracts his way NOW! No time to stop and think!"

Again, that sheet we saw that had the $150 million budget, I'm pretty certain that is before any tax breaks they may get from the state of Lousiana. There is a reason they filmed FF there. But, again, Hollywood accounting is weird.

This is all so weird. This is pretty much a passion project for Tatum. And it sounds like it is beginning to shape up well. I have doubts that this is anything more than final negotiations.

So Hugh Jackman will soon be done with Wolverine. The Gambit movie is in trouble. Fantastic Fours future is in doubt. Not a good time for FOX. If Fantastic Four flops & Gambit does not happen. Perhaps they extend Hugh Jackmans contract ? They got nothing after Deadpool, Apocalypse if Gambit does not happen. Especially if most of the main First Class cast leaves after Apocalypse. Or FOX could reboot everything altogether ? It will be interesting seeing what happens in the future

Fox will reboot if they have to

There is NO way they let the x-franchise go, unless Disney drops billions (which it has no reason to). They are in serious jeopardy of already losing F4, they cannot afford to lose another franchise

I don't see them rebooting, they already did an in continuity reboot of sorts. I do hope one of these days they go back to the OT cast for a few films. Use some of those actors who got too little to work with.

New Mutants.

Not a chance in hell that they'll give the X-franchise up to Disney. They'll milk it for as long as they can, and they'll be fine for the foreseeable future, but I think they're going to have to take a step back and reassess what to do with the X-men as this "throwing to the wall and see what sticks" sort of mindset they have with Gambit isn't a sustainable plan.

Taylor Kitsch back IN ?

don't laugh, FOX brought back Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool

why not Kitsch?

Or they can focus on a film that fans have been asking for for years...X-Force.

So a film that was only being made since it was Channing Tatum's passion project now has Tatum dropping out? I can't see this film happening without him. I hope that Fox raises his pay to keep him onboard since he's still, you know, needed.

150 is weird cause its Gambit. His power is to blow stuff up. What kind of extensive FX are needed that isn't seen on a CW TV show? What kind of villain would need that much?

Filming in Louisiana is supposed to be cheaper anyways even before tax breaks.

actually X-Force would be the way to go as it was the dramatic return of the original X-Men.

You could spin-off that from the new Apocalyspe film as they casted new Grey, Cyclops etc..

then we could finally have the X-Men film we all want. In costume ofcourse

The only way I see it happening is if Fox and Marvel Studios come to the same deal as Sony/Marvel. That way they'll have the X-Men in the MCU and Fox can still produce X-Men movies every year or two.

And honestly, with James Murdoch taking over Fox as the CEO and his comments stating that Fox is more than a comicbook company, it wouldn't surprise me.

They're going to need a bankable star. They've gotten this far into production, and with that price tag, they're going to need someone who will put meat in seats. That alone is why Kitsch won't come back.

That'd be great, but there's no sense in hoping that Fox and Marvel will see eye to eye. There's enough bad blood between the two that reconciliation and cooperation are pretty far down on the list of options for either of them, IMO.

That's X-Factor.

He needs a new agent if he picked Magic Mike over Gambit

To be fair, Magic Mike is a pretty solid money maker. They make those for $14 million, sit back, and rake in that amount several times over.
Gambit could certainly be a big franchise, but I've had my doubts about this film for a long time. It always seemed like a bad idea from the start.

X-Force was not the return of the original X-Men, you're thinking of X-Factor which was the original five.

X-Force was started by Cable.
